Chapter 615: The Chaos Twin Serpents
Everything happening right now is downright uncanny!
Just as Reid Watson stood there, dumbfounded, a flurry of snow and ice erupted ahead. Massive waves of frost magic began to surge wildly, and a slender figure shot up into the sky once more...
"Roar!"
The Frost Dragon threw back its head and let out a thunderous roar, making Reid Watson's eardrums ache. Almost as soon as the sound split the air, the Frost Dragon—wreathed in heavy magical energy—launched itself at the Mountain Serpent with unbelievable speed.
Its massive body was a force to behold. In a flash, the Frost Dragon crashed into the Mountain Serpent. Then came a resounding "crash" as the dragon's powerful claws slammed down, caving in nearly a hundred meters of the serpent's skin...
"Aaargh!"
A deep, anguished roar echoed out—the Mountain Serpent's voice thick with pain. At the point of impact, Frost Runes flickered, stirring up a chaotic surge of magical energy.
"My god..." Watching all this, Reid Watson was completely speechless. The power the Frost Dragon displayed in that moment was far beyond anything he could have imagined...
Utterly astounding...
It was almost as if the Mountain Serpent was being used for target practice...
But then, Reid Watson noticed something else—an intense surge of magic suddenly radiated from the young mage beside him. Before Reid could react, the young archmage transformed, becoming a towering Frost Giant, the living embodiment of frost itself...
With a swift "whoosh," the young archmage harnessed the surrounding frost elements and blinked atop the Mountain Serpent's head.
"Holy hell!" Reid Watson cried out. Had Leon lost his mind? The female serpent was nothing like the male; the male's head might be a blind spot, but the female's was definitely not. The Matriarch Serpent possessed Serpent Runes—she could cast any spell, anytime. It didn't matter if you stood atop her head or inside her belly; if she wanted you dead, there was nowhere to hide...
Yet...
Just as Reid Watson was about to shout a warning, he was stunned to see Leon raise the Dragonstaff. An astonishing surge of magic pulsed from the staff, and the air around the young mage began to warp, swiftly tearing open a rift in the void.
Reid could clearly sense the raging magic within that spatial rift—completely out of control. With every breath and heartbeat, magic poured crazily into Leon's body. Reid even wondered if Leon would be torn apart by the sheer force of it all...
It wasn't just him—even Anthus, watching this unfold, blanched in shock, staring at Leon in disbelief. Right now, Leon gave him a feeling of absolute helplessness.
Even Cyrus Watson, an Eighth Rank Title Archmage, was shaken to the core by the overwhelming magical pressure.
At this moment, Leon had activated the Arcane Wheel. The mid-tier Essence Relic in his hands shone brighter than ever before—this was the power of a demi-plane. The artifact's strength had multiplied dozens of times, and "terrifying" was barely enough to describe it.
"Roar!"
The Mountain Serpent beneath him let out a deafening roar, its voice trembling with panic and unease. Once the Natural Semi-Plane appeared, the serpent sensed imminent danger—the power surging from the demi-plane seemed capable of tearing its flesh apart with the slightest touch. Even the Mountain Serpent felt like prey before a true predator. That overwhelming sense of power made it forget its purpose entirely, fear flickering in its eyes.
"It's too late now..." Leon said flatly. The same scene had played out before with the male serpent, and now, it was the Matriarch Serpent's turn to be sentenced to death.
Then Leon activated the Arcane Wheel, channeling the power of the Natural Semi-Plane into it. An endless torrent of Sixth-Tier spells surged forth like a flood.
That's right!
Sixth-Tier spells.
The power of the demi-plane was simply terrifying, enabling the Arcane Wheel to unleash a force stronger than ever before. This was the power of a world itself—the essence of ancient gods and demons.
"Boom!"
A barrage of dazzling flame spells tore through the void, ripping open the Mountain Serpent's skull, then slicing straight down its body...
Leon seized the chance to find the serpent's vital spot and extracted a Mana Crystal from within.
"Hubert, help Reina gather materials from the Matriarch Serpent..." Leon, looking a bit pale, gave the order after closing the spatial rift of the Natural Semi-Plane.
With prior experience, it took less than ten minutes to harvest the Mountain Serpent's corpse this time—scales, bile, fangs—one precious magical material after another was stored in the Spatial Relic.
When it was all done, both Seventh Rank Title Archmage Reid Watson and Seventh Rank Sword Saint Anthus were visibly excited. The battle had been almost absurdly easy—especially for the Watson Family, who barely lifted a finger yet got to bask in victory.
It seemed that, with Leon around, the rest of the expedition would go off without a hitch...
But just then, Reid Watson—still riding high on excitement—noticed that Cyrus Watson looked unusually grim. Even Leon was staring at the Mountain Serpent's corpse, deep in thought.
Those two were acting way too strange...
They'd just taken down the Mountain Serpent—there shouldn't be any more danger. So what was the problem now?
While Reid Watson was lost in puzzlement, he suddenly saw Cyrus Watson, looking grave, turn to Leon and say, "Looks like we've got trouble this time..."

"Yeah..." Reid Watson then saw Leon nod, his expression just as heavy.
"Mage Merlin, Lord Cyrus, what are you two talking about? I don't get it at all," Reid Watson couldn't help but ask. Both Leon and Cyrus were speaking in riddles.
Leon shook his head and looked at Cyrus. "You explain."
"Alright..." Cyrus managed a wry smile and pointed to the distant Mountain Serpent's corpse. "When two Mountain Serpents appear together, they're called the Chaos Twin Serpents..."
"Chaos Twin Serpents?" Reid Watson, who had looked curious before, suddenly widened his eyes.
"That's right, the Chaos Twin Serpents..." Cyrus gave a bitter smile. "In the legends of the Elder Gods and Demons, each Primordial Deity has their own God-Demon Dominion. And a dominion needs guardians—sometimes they're Heaven-Tier beasts, sometimes mighty alchemical golems..."
At that, Cyrus glanced at the alchemical golem standing behind Leon, feeling a chill—the golem's power just now was enough to make even an Eighth Rank Title Archmage wary. Clearly, this golem was anything but ordinary.
Cyrus didn't linger—he quickly looked away and continued the tale: "The God-Demon Dominion of Primordial Deity Constantine was guarded by the Chaos Twin Serpents. Legend says one serpent embodies light, the other darkness. Their presence here means we've entered Constantine's Dominion..."
"God-Demon Dominion!" Reid Watson cried out. That was supposed to be pure legend; from the distant Ashan Dynasty to now, no mortal had ever truly set foot in the Dominion of a Primordial Deity. It was more than just a residence—it was the source of their power. To enter such a place meant you might face a Primordial Deity directly.
"But the Mountain Serpents seem a bit too weak..." Cyrus frowned. Both had only gone through nine cycles of slumber—not even reaching Heaven-Tier. How could they possibly guard the Dominion?
Just then, Leon's voice echoed from afar: "Don't forget, the age of gods and demons ended long ago..."
"True..." Cyrus started, then suddenly understood—during the age of the Elder Gods and Demons, the true Chaos Twin Serpents may have already fallen. The Mountain Serpents here were merely their descendants.
It was clear: only after the Mountain Serpent's tenth cycle of slumber and awakening would it gain Heaven-Tier strength and become a true Chaos Twin Serpent.
The thought sent a chill through Cyrus—they'd gotten lucky. The two Mountain Serpents hadn't truly appeared together, and both were only at their ninth awakening, far from their peak. If they'd faced fully awakened Chaos Twin Serpents, their team of Title Archmages would've been wiped out.
Passing through the Chaos Twin Serpents' blockade meant they'd truly entered the God-Demon Dominion. After a brief rest, the team pressed on, heading deeper into the frozen world...
This leg of the journey took much longer—after a month and a half, they finally reached the edge of the frozen world.
This demi-plane was even vaster than they'd imagined. Standing at the edge of the snowy expanse, they could see endless primordial forests and mountains encircling a massive valley. Here, there was no trace of frost—above, a blazing red sun hung in the sky.
