An Unexpected Divine Attendant

1/4/2026

Lucia Lu shot Damian Black a surprised look, pulled her hand back, and said, "It's nothing! I didn't expect the spines on that poison beast to be so vicious. I actually never touched it, but its sharp aura still pierced me!"

Luna Lian's eyes reddened. "It's all my fault..."

"It's just a tiny hole! It'll heal in a few days! Why are you crying?" Lucia teased. "Come on, help me put on some medicine and bandage it up."

Luna Lian helped her bandage the wound.

"But what happened to you just now? Why did you suddenly freeze up?" Lucia asked.

Luna Lian replied, "I don't know. I saw a surge of black energy hit me, and then my mind just went blank."

"It was probably demonic qi attacking you," Lucia frowned. "That black aura on the beast—it's demonic! I've seen demon-tainted beasts before."

Adrian Drake chimed in, "Demonic qi, huh... Looks like Baxa's a real problem! Controlling demon beasts, seriously!"

"Are you still planning to catch him?"

"Where would I even find him?" Adrian frowned. "Let's head back for now. Later, I'll get a Rune Master to track him down. Oh, right—Snow Yuan, Snow Yuan?"

He called out for Snow Yuan, but the Saint Maiden was just staring wide-eyed at Damian Black, not blinking once.

No one knew what she was thinking—she was biting her lip, sulking, and didn't even hear Adrian Drake calling her.

"Snow Yuan!" Adrian slapped her on the shoulder. "Why are you daydreaming about boys?"

Snow Yuan shot him a sideways glance. "What?"

"Doesn't your brother have a Divine Attendant who's a Rune Master? Get him to help us track down Baxa."

"They're not home!"

Adrian: "Then..."

"I know a Rune Master, and I still have his Messenger Charm!" Lucia Lu said. "If you need help later, I'll ask him for you."

"You're the best, Senior Sister!"

"Of course I am!" Lucia laughed. "Let's get going!"

Just as the group was about to leave, spiritual energy suddenly surged wildly at the edge of the cliff.

"Huh? What's that..." Everyone turned to look.

There was a single stalk of Goldenreed standing tall atop the sheer cliff.

After the spiritual power gathered, the Goldenreed suddenly transformed into a human shape.

He was a handsome young boy with long hair, draped in the sheer gauze of a newborn wood-immortal, his face full of confusion.

But when he saw Lucia Lu, his face lit up with a smile, and he threw himself at her feet, hugging her legs tightly.

"Uh... What are you doing?" Lucia asked.

"Saint Maiden, I just received a drop of your blood and suddenly transformed!" The Goldenreed spirit stammered. "Thank you for your blessing!"

"So that's what happened!" Lucia said. "Well, it's your lucky day—go cultivate well! We're heading out!"

But the little Goldenreed spirit clung to her, refusing to let go: "Please take me in, Saint Maiden! I'll work like a beast of burden to repay you!"

Lucia thought for a moment, then said, "Alright! I guess it's fate. I just happen to need a Divine Attendant—why don't you be my first?"

The Goldenreed boy broke into a dazzling smile, looking absolutely adorable. "Thank you, Saint Maiden!"

"Let's go." Lucia led the Goldenreed boy, and everyone headed back to the ship together.

Lucia asked Ryan Lu to fetch two sets of clothes for the Goldenreed spirit and help him tidy up.

Then, bubbling with excitement, she said, "Adrian, this is my very first Divine Attendant—help me name him, will you?"

"He's your first Divine Attendant?" Adrian was surprised.

"Yep! The Spirit Alliance doesn't allow us to bring Divine Attendants along."

"Alright then... He is pretty good-looking, so let's call him Beau! As in 'beautiful boy.'"
