Fainted from Anger

Tang Shi said, standing on a stool to appear taller, vividly and dramatically recounted again how she and Zhang Zhaocai accidentally saw Su Li in disheveled clothes being brought back by Yuanbao.

Wang Shi listened with her chest rising and falling, but for a while, she couldn't tell if what Tang Shi said was true or false.

If it was false, Wang Shi had seen Su Li when she came home; indeed, her clothes were disheveled, and later she had a big quarrel with Yuanbao.

This was the first time the couple had a serious argument since their marriage.

With such thoughts, plus Tang Shi's detailed telling, Wang Shi's heart skipped a beat: could it be that Ali was really harmed by some villain...

Wang Shi's face instantly turned pale, her chest heaving violently.

Tang Shi was still standing on the stool, excitedly speaking, when suddenly a woman nearby screamed, "Ali Niang, what's wrong? Why are you fainting?!"

Tang Shi turned around and saw Wang Shi rolling her eyes and collapsing to the ground.

Tang Shi panicked immediately, jumped down from the stool, stepped back hurriedly, waving her hands frantically and shouting, "It's not my fault! I didn't do anything. She, she just suddenly fainted!"

While saying this, Tang Shi pushed through the hall door and ran away.

Those left inside panicked and shouted loudly, "Someone, help! Ali Niang has fainted!"

Lingdang, who was guarding Shen Wei safely in the backyard, heard this and immediately rushed over to check. Wang Shi was lying on the ground, pale, surrounded by a circle of confused villagers.

Lingdang immediately told a male apprentice running over, "Quick, go fetch the doctor!"

Doctor Wu was in Wu Caiwei's room and was called immediately. Upon arriving at the front hall, seeing Lingdang not daring to move Wang Shi, he drove the villagers away, laid Wang Shi flat on the ground, and watched over her himself.

Doctor Wu saw the situation and knew it wasn't good, quickly going over to check Wang Shi's condition.

Soon, Xiao Zetian received the news and hurried back. Lingdang had already helped Wang Shi onto the bed, but Wang Shi was still unconscious.

"How is my mother?" Xiao Zetian asked anxiously.

"Sigh, Yuanbao, your mother’s condition isn’t very good," Doctor Wu said, stroking his chin. "She originally had a heart palpitation problem, and just now the anger triggered it, causing her to faint. Fortunately, I arrived in time to save her. But from now on, you must be very careful—don’t let her get angry or experience huge emotional swings, or it will happen again."

Xiao Zetian felt relieved hearing that Wang Shi’s life was not in danger, and hurriedly ordered servants to prepare medicine.

Doctor Wu was attending to Wang Shi while Xiao Zetian asked Lingdang at the door, "What exactly happened just now?"

Lingdang shook her head, "Some villagers came to see the old madam and said a few words. The old madam then fainted. I was ordered by the general to protect the general’s wife, so I wasn’t by the old madam’s side and don’t know exactly what happened. It seems the old madam had a quarrel with a woman and got so angry she fainted."

Xiao Zetian clenched his fists, "Investigate and find out which fool did this mischief!"

"Yes, master."

Meanwhile, Su Li woke up and, upon hearing that Wang Shi had fainted, hurriedly dressed and rushed to Wang Shi’s room.

Upon entering, she saw Wang Shi already awake, sitting by the bed. Xiao Zetian held a bowl of freshly brewed medicine, blowing on it to cool it, carefully feeding Wang Shi.

Su Li stared at Xiao Zetian, stunned for a moment—why was he still here, still taking care of her mother...

"Mother, how are you? Why did you suddenly faint?" Su Li hurried over and held Wang Shi’s hand.

Wang Shi recalled Tang Shi’s words and felt a pang of sadness, but seeing Yuanbao there, she couldn’t bring herself to ask Su Li if she had really been harmed by some villain.
