Yeah, it's pretty funny. Maybe I should go play with them?

Yuna Ji interjected from behind.

"Shut up, bitch," John Chou shouted. Yuna Ji stuck out her tongue and made a face at him.

I looked at Yuna Ji with resentment. She smiled at me, winked, and then turned her attention back to John Chou.

"Ghost, don't get arrogant," Damian Chen's senior brother shouted.

Then Damian Chen picked up his spear and walked forward.

"Young man, let it go. I'm not in a good mood today. Let's call it quits—you go your way, I'll go mine. How about it?"

John Chou suggested again.

Hmph, you ghost, enough talk. Today you ran into someone from the Nether Syndicate. It's either you die or we do.

John Chou's smile faded, and Damian Chen's senior brother and sister stepped back a little.

Junior brother, buy us some time.

Damian Chen said as he raised his spear and charged at John Chou, thrusting straight at his face.

With a clang, suddenly, John Chou produced a pitch-black knife from nowhere, blocking Damian Chen's spear.

I stood up, wanting to go over, but Rachel Lan was still holding onto me.

Hurry and move those three into the house. The Nether Syndicate kills without hesitation; if they get hurt again...

Rachel Lan and I circled the yard and reached the doorway where the three were lying.

John Chou kept dodging, while Damian Chen wielded his spear with great skill, each strike aimed at a vital spot.

"Dust to dust, earth to earth, souls gather and scatter—break!" Suddenly, Damian Chen gripped his spear with his left hand, recited a spell, and chopped at John Chou's chest with his right hand.

But John Chou seemed to anticipate it. He grabbed Damian Chen's wrist, turned sideways, and with a bang, as we were about to carry the young man in the white shirt into the house, a large chunk of the doorway exploded, scattering debris.

Damn, what are you doing? There are wounded people here.

Then Rachel Lan and I hurriedly carried the three wounded into the house. The most seriously injured was the young man in the white shirt—his left shoulder was missing a large chunk of flesh, his body drenched in cold sweat, his face deathly pale.

"Call an ambulance," I said.

Rachel Lan shook her head.

"No, we can't. Ordinary people can't know about this kind of thing. In a little while, the rescue team should come. As long as the Burial Ghost Squad is out for more than an hour, our branch will send a rescue team."

"Damn it, those Nether Syndicate bastards," the Daoist cursed, pounding the ground, clearly unwilling to let it go.

Outside, Damian Chen was still fighting John Chou, neither willing to give an inch.

"Even though you don't have much skill, I admire you. Why bother with them?"

As I spoke, the three stared at me, and I realized I'd said the wrong thing.

"No, no, I didn't mean it like that, I..."

"Qingyuan, let's go," Rachel Lan said, glancing outside at John Chou, then at Yuna Ji.

"Those two aren't ordinary people."

I looked at her, puzzled.

"The more powerful the ghost, the heavier its yin energy. But with those two, when they came over, I didn't feel a thing. Normally, anyone from Huangquan would sense a ghost approaching—even the weakest ones give off a faint feeling. But with those two, I only sensed something after they'd already passed by. They're not ordinary."

"Do you think the Nether Syndicate can handle them?" I asked. Rachel Lan's eyes sparkled, and she shook her head.

"I've never seen a Soul-Absorbing Ghost before. Normally, other ghosts would be dealt with in an instant. The spell those three used was powerful, but even an old Soul-Absorbing Ghost wouldn't be taken down so easily."

"Let's wait and see," she said.

I muttered, feeling helpless. How could I leave now? No matter how much I hated the Nether Syndicate, at least they were human.

"Qian for heaven, Dui for marsh, Yuhua Luo Court, Zhen for face, Kan for loss, Jin for trunk, Gen for concealment, He..." Damian Chen's senior brother chanted, suddenly flipped, and raised both hands high.

"Kun for earth, Xun for wind, Li for source, Wu for brilliance, Guan for proclamation, Tu for movement, Ding for holding, He..." Right after, Damian Chen's senior sister leaped onto his palms, and a golden light shone from their bodies.

"Junior brother, get out of here," she said.
