Battle

Not far away, the Three Maiden Spirits were gnawing at the Ding Ancestor's corpse.

Blood and flesh were everywhere.

As they chewed, sharp cracking sounds echoed through the air. The sight made the Daoist’s face twist in horror.

"You!"

The Daoist’s chest heaved—he couldn’t believe his proud Soul-Suppressing Mantra had been broken so easily.

The commotion quickly lit up all of Magnolia Manor.

The Ding family rushed over. When they saw the warehouse door blasted apart and severed limbs scattered everywhere, their faces all changed.

Old Madam Ding spotted the half-eaten corpse of the Ding Ancestor, her face going pale. Then she saw Evan Lin standing nearby, one foot planted on the Daoist’s back, and hurried over.

"Is that you?"

Seeing the Daoist, Old Madam Ding froze in surprise.

"Who are you?" Derrick Ding frowned, sizing up the Daoist in front of him.

Pinned under Evan’s foot, the Daoist looked utterly wretched, his face shrouded in ghostly gloom. He glared at the Ding family without a word.

Old Madam Ding looked puzzled and turned to Evan, speaking respectfully: "Master Evan, this Daoist was the one who helped us draw talismans to suppress those corpses before. Are you sure you’ve got the right guy?"

Evan’s expression was calm, but his words hit like thunder: "He’s exactly the ‘evil ghost’ your Ding Ancestor warned about."

"What?" The Ding family stared at the Daoist in shock, not yet able to speak.

The Daoist’s eyes were full of hate as he spoke: "Daniel Ding, that bastard! We agreed to dig up the Thornridge Mountain tomb together and share the glory, but after surviving hell, once we found the black jade, he sealed the tomb entrance and tried to leave me for dead!"

"If I hadn’t stumbled onto the Soul-Suppressing Mantra, I’d have been killed by evil spirits right there! Daniel Ding! All his descendants deserve to die!" The Daoist’s voice was hoarse and bitter.

"You... you’re Mu Chong!" Old Madam Ding’s mouth fell open as she heard the Daoist’s words, her face changing again and again.

"That’s right! Who’d have thought Daniel Ding would let someone else know about me! Ha!" Mu Chong laughed wildly, his gaze falling on the Ding Ancestor’s half-eaten corpse, his expression turning icy. "Back in the tomb, if I hadn’t risked my life, he’d have died there for sure."

"Daniel Ding brought this on himself. Even dead, he’s still my tool! Too bad—Human-Skin Ghost Garment, borrow-corpse-return-soul, steal Heaven’s fate—just one step short!"
