A Divorce Letter for You
Afraid her father or some random guy would come looking for her and not find her, Grace left a note in her room: "I'm going to visit Bobby's cousin. I'll definitely be back before dark."
Bobby's cousin is Joanna Zuo, a key figure in the Vermilion Spirit Alliance.
Her husband's family is the Zhao family, a powerful noble house in the Vermilion Kingdom.
Unfortunately, the Duke Zhao Mansion backed the wrong side.
In her previous life, about four or five years later, Emperor Tuoba Hong would wipe out the Duke Zhao Mansion completely.
Joanna Zuo got caught up in the mess and was executed.
Even Bobby from the Blue Moon Spirit Alliance was bullied to death along with her...
Grace wanted to visit her and ask about the Spirit Alliance's recruitment this year.
Checking the time, Grace figured Joanna probably wasn't at the Duke Zhao Mansion right now, but at the Spirit Alliance instead.
So, she headed out and made her way to the Spirit Alliance like it was second nature.
The Spirit Alliance isn’t in the city—it’s on a gorgeous mountain just outside town.
The mountain was originally called Deer Terrace Mountain, but after the Spirit Alliance set up shop, everyone started calling it Spirit Alliance Mountain.
Spirit Alliance Mountain is steep and lush. There’s a natural flat area halfway up, and the Alliance buildings sprawl along it, following the slope. From afar, the pavilions and towers look stunning and dramatic; up close, they’re grand and exquisitely detailed.
The Spirit Alliance is a major institution in the Vermilion Kingdom. There are magical barriers and soldiers stationed at the base—regular folks aren’t allowed anywhere near.
Grace, a total pro at this, arrived at the foot of the mountain with two silver ingots, ready to bribe the guards to help her find someone.
But as luck would have it, she ran right into Joanna Zuo as soon as she got there.
And Joanna wasn’t alone—there was a young man with her too.
The guy was pretty handsome, dressed in fancy robes, totally charming. He looked powerful too, but right now he was all gloom and anger.
This was Joanna Zuo’s husband, Andrew Zhao.
"...No matter what, I’m still your lawfully wedded wife!" Joanna was crying. "Even if you don’t love me, at least give me some dignity! How could you flirt with that tramp right in front of me? Where does that leave me?"
"When did I ever flirt with her? You embarrassed me in front of everyone! You’re totally insane!" Andrew Zhao snapped.
"You two were hugging!"
"She just fell and I helped her up, that’s all!" Andrew Zhao shot Joanna Zuo a look of pure disgust.
"And what about last time? You two came out of that room with your clothes all messed up—what were you doing then?"
"Are you ever going to let this go? Are you planning to harp on it for the rest of your life?" Andrew Zhao shouted.
Joanna Zuo broke down in tears, sobbing, "Fine! I won’t bring up the past! I’ll pretend I didn’t see anything today either! Andrew Zhao, we have two kids together. I don’t want to keep fighting like this—it’s bad for them. I just ask one thing: please don’t come to the Spirit Alliance anymore, okay?"
Seeing her hysterical and tear-streaked face, Andrew Zhao was even more disgusted. He just said, "Then let me spell it out for you! I love Lily! I want to be with her, and I’ll keep coming to see her! If you keep making a scene, don’t blame me for divorcing you with a letter—on the spot!"
"You—" Joanna Zuo nearly bit through her lip. "You bastard!"
"Hmph!" Andrew Zhao sneered and turned to leave.
