Take Him Away First

Zhang-ge, what's wrong? Get someone to deal with him!" Darren Chen called out, confused by Zack's reaction.

Chloe Cheng looked equally puzzled, glancing at Zack.

Zack was practically frozen. He stepped up to Evan Lin, all his earlier swagger gone, and asked nervously, "What's your name?"

Lin," Evan replied calmly.

Zack was instantly humbled, put on a face like he was talking to his parents, pulled an envelope from his pocket, and handed it over: "Sorry, Lin-ge, someone asked me to give you this—5,000 yuan!"

Just moments ago, Zack was loudly mentioning the Finance Bureau director. Now, he didn't dare utter a single word.

He remembered Director Chen's repeated warnings to keep things low-key—those words now felt like a mountain pressing down on his head.

Thinking of how he'd acted just now, Zack almost wanted to slap himself.

So this money's for me? You do handle things quickly.' Evan Lin took the envelope, his tone playful.

Zack looked miserable, about to say something, when a police car pulled up with its lights flashing.

The officers got out, smiled at Zack: "Zhang-ge, you're here too? We just got a report—was it you who called? Who needs to be arrested?"

One of the officers glanced at Darren Chen, inwardly startled—he looked so beaten up his own mother might not recognize him.

That's him! Arrest that kid! And where's my ambulance?" Darren shouted, emboldened by the police presence.

But before he could finish, Zack's expression changed. He quickly pointed at Darren Chen, poking his nose, and hurriedly said, "It's him—please take Darren Chen to the hospital first. He got into a fight with some street punks, so get him out of here!"
