Return to the Yun Family

1/4/2026

Charles Yin was determined to acquire the Yun Family, eradicating any factor that could threaten Cecilia Gu.

Cecilia Gu had made up her mind to return to the Yun Family, enter the Yun Family Sanctuary, and obtain the Yun Family Secret Medicine to save Jane Gu.

Neither of them told the other about their plans, yet both felt endless guilt towards each other.

After all, the Yun Family was Cecilia Gu's true family. For Charles Yin to destroy his own in-laws... it was something he truly couldn't bring himself to say.

Cecilia Gu was determined to save Jane Gu, which meant she had to take responsibility for the Yun Family, and divorce Charles Yin... This was equally hard for her to admit.

Still, Cecilia thought about it—since the Yun and Mo families had a marriage contract, it wasn't surprising that he'd come to meet her.

The moment Cecilia stepped off the escalator, Max Mo's eyes lit up instantly.

Though it had been a while since they'd seen each other, Cecilia's pregnancy was more obvious now. But to Max Mo, she hadn't changed at all.

No, there was a change.

Cecilia's aura was becoming more and more like Nora Yun's.

Was this because they were identical twins?

This time, Cecilia traveled alone—not even her assistant came. She wanted to settle things quickly.

"You're here." Cecilia paused for a moment when she saw Max Mo, then asked, "Is the Yun Family... all prepared?"

Max Mo stepped forward and grabbed Cecilia's hand, helping her down.

Cecilia's body stiffened, instinctively trying to pull her hand back.

That message definitely set Ethan Yin off.

Ethan Yin became even more obsessed with the Yun Family's stock, ready to swoop in as soon as Charles Yin moved to acquire the Yun Family.

As soon as Cecilia Gu arrived in K City, someone was already at the airport to greet her.

Max Mo, in a deep gray trench coat, looked tall and striking—more charming than ever.

Cecilia Gu hadn't expected Max Mo to be the one waiting for her...

Was this the reason for the twin connection?

This time, Cecilia left without even her assistant. She wanted to get things done quickly.

"You're here." Cecilia was momentarily stunned when she saw Max Mo, then asked, "Is the Yun Family... ready?"

Max Mo stepped forward, grabbed Cecilia's hand, and helped her down.

Cecilia's body went rigid, instinctively trying to pull her hand away.

He could see the exhaustion on Cecilia's face, clear as day.

He could also see Charles Yin's every move.

He'd been planning for so long—waiting for this very moment.

Once the news broke about Charles Yin acquiring the Yun Family, Cecilia would never forgive him.

That's when Max Mo would finally make his move.

But would everything really go according to plan?

After all, there was still one wild card... the child.

Cecilia must have been truly exhausted—she only opened her eyes after a long rest.

Max Mo handed her a glass of water. "Here, drink some—it's good for you."

"Thanks." Cecilia took it and finished it in one gulp.

"Are you sure you don't need my help with what's next?" Max Mo asked, watching her closely.

"No, but thank you for your kindness. I can handle this myself," Cecilia replied firmly. "Besides, isn't this Yun Family business?"

Max Mo nodded thoughtfully. "How long will the whole process take?"

"Three days," Cecilia answered, her gaze dropping. "After the Ancestral Recognition Ceremony, I'll go to the Yun Family Sanctuary to find the cure. It should take about three days."

"Understood." Max Mo nodded, his blue eyes soft. "I'll be here the whole time. If you need me, just call."

But will things really go according to plan?

After all, there's always one unexpected factor... the child.

Cecilia Gu must have been truly exhausted. She only opened her eyes after resting for a long time.

Max Mo handed her a glass of water. "Have some water, it'll help you feel better."

"Thank you." Cecilia took it and drank it all in one go.

"Are you sure you don't need my help with what's coming next?" Max Mo asked, looking steadily at Cecilia.

"No, but thank you for offering. I can handle this myself," Cecilia replied firmly. "Besides, this is a Yun Family matter, isn't it?"

Max Mo nodded thoughtfully. "How long will the whole process take?"

"Three days," Cecilia answered, lowering her eyes. "After the Ancestral Recognition Ceremony, I'll go to the Yun Family Sanctuary to find the medicine. It'll take about three days."

"Got it," Max Mo nodded, his blue eyes unusually gentle. "I'll be here the whole time. If you need me, just call."

Cecilia nodded silently, then suddenly remembered something. She looked up at Max Mo. "Why did the Mo Family risk everything to save the Yun Family back then—even at the cost of three lives?"

"No one dared disobey my great-grandmother's orders. Back then, my eldest, second, and third granduncles were all key commanders at the front. My grandfather was too young, so he stayed behind. That's why he survived. My great-grandmother gave a strict order: even if it meant death, the Yun Family must be evacuated safely. My three granduncles followed her command, leading the troops and fighting to the end. After the battle, not even their bodies could be found." Max Mo answered calmly.

Cecilia Gu's heart trembled violently.

"My great-grandmother was a princess of the Qing Dynasty, but also a chief strategist. Her word was as good as a military order." Max Mo continued, "Later, my grandfather fought alongside her, switching from the Nationalists to the Communists, battling all the way to today. Now he's over seventy, but he remembers her teachings clearly. At the founding of the country, she could've been made a general, but she refused, instead sending my father and his brothers into the army to prove their loyalty to the nation."

Cecilia suddenly felt that Max Mo's great-grandmother must've been quite a remarkable woman...

Why was she so determined to protect the Yun Family, and insist on marrying a Yun daughter?

After so many years, these questions probably have no answer anymore.

"I knew about the Mo Family's ancestral rule since I was little. I didn't care for it—actually, I resisted it. As a direct descendant, I couldn't choose my own marriage. I hated that. But when I met Nora Yun, I don't know why, my resistance just melted away. I knew she was the one." Max Mo smiled bitterly at Cecilia. "Nora Yun was truly remarkable—so extraordinary, you couldn't help but like her."

"I know," Cecilia nodded. She'd seen Nora Yun in her dreams. She really was someone impossible not to love.

"I pursued Nora Yun for a long time before she finally agreed to be with me. Later, we got engaged—it was the happiest time of my life." Max Mo didn't hide his feelings for Nora Yun. "I always felt she was the one I'd been searching for. And now, I find that same feeling in you."

Cecilia raised an eyebrow at Max Mo, her eyes filled with defiance.

What does that mean?

Are you interested in both sisters at the same time?

Isn't that a bit much?

Max Mo saw the look in Cecilia's eyes and burst out laughing. "Exactly! When I was chasing after Nora Yun, she looked at me just like that. I still remember her first response: 'Are you sure you're pursuing the right person? You belong to my sister, so why are you coming to me?' I thought it was ridiculous—she was the only direct descendant of the Yun Family, where was this sister? It wasn't until you appeared before me that I finally understood what she meant. Maybe, she agreed to be with me back then because of you."
