"What exactly is that door?"
Yvette Locke followed beside Evan, asking curiously.
Even the beast controlled by the Locke Family's patriarch deep inside Locke Mountain isn't really something from this era, if you think about it.
Flames flickered around Yvette, but the closer she got to the coffin's interior, the more it felt like her fire could go out at any moment.
Even though there was nothing special to see and no obvious pressure, Yvette still felt totally uneasy.
"I don't know either."
Evan shook his head and looked around.
Except for the faint silhouettes of Grandmaster Phoenix Bai and the others walking ahead, everything around them was swallowed by thick darkness again.
Even the glow from the luminous pearls couldn't light up this place.
The deeper they went, the more everything felt solemn, as if this space was separating itself from the outside world.
Grandmaster Damien Graves stayed right behind Evan, not leaving his side for a second.
They hadn't walked much farther when—
"We're here. This is the spot."
Grandmaster Phoenix Bai stopped, and as Evan and the others looked ahead, they saw faint ink-white outlines flickering in the pitch-black darkness.
That faint glow stood out even more against the total darkness.
"A door?"
Seeing what was in front of him, Grandmaster Damien Graves was stunned for a moment.
Evan also frowned slightly.
Before actually seeing the door Phoenix Bai mentioned, Evan had wondered if it might be some kind of special key.
But as it turned out, the door in front of them really was just... a door.
But the door wasn't a single panel—it was an old-fashioned double wooden door like you’d see in ancient times.
At first glance, it wasn’t very big—maybe half a meter tall and a quarter meter wide at most.
Right now, the little door was closed, and there was no sign of any way to open it.
"That's right. This is the door passed down by the Bai clan for generations."
Phoenix Bai stood in front of that ink-white outline of a door, looked at Evan, and nodded slightly: "This space wasn't always this dark."
"Even though we're inside the Great Bronze Sarcophagus and no light can get in, the luminous pearls alone used to be enough to drive away the darkness here."
"But ever since I put this door here, all the light around it struggles to get through. Look at those luminous pearls on the wall—their glow is trapped in just the tiniest area."
Phoenix Bai pointed to a spot.
Everyone could see a tiny bit of white light on the wall over there.
If you didn’t look closely, you’d never notice it.
