In the Jianghu, How Can You Not Carry a Blade
In this land, every noble family keeps armed guards.
In the world of Spirit Practitioners, strength reigns supreme—it's even more brutal than the world of ordinary people.
Spirit Practitioners from humble backgrounds often attach themselves to powerful families as guards—it's actually a pretty good way out.
And Ruby’s brother is clearly one of them.
“You tricked me into coming here—what exactly do you want?” Grace asked.
“Listen up, Lily Bai! I want you to go to the General right now and ask to give me back the Head Maid position!” Ruby demanded fiercely. “Otherwise…”
“Otherwise what?” Grace raised an eyebrow.
“Hmph!” Ruby sneered and glanced at her brother. “Otherwise—why don’t you ask my brother what will happen?”
Grace looked at her brother, and the guard started walking toward her.
He radiated hostility, his eyes full of lechery.
Grace replied, "Yeah, I'm Lily Bai."
He leaned in, eyes fierce, and growled, "Who gave you the guts to stir up trouble on my turf?"
"Your turf?" Grace raised an eyebrow. "This is the General's Manor, isn't it? How did it become yours?"
Ruby’s brother chuckled, then suddenly grabbed her chin. "What a dumb name, but you’re not bad-looking! Honestly, I wasn’t planning to let you off, but… if you do what Ruby says, maybe I’ll spare you. Deal?"
Damn it! He actually grabbed her chin!
Grace’s right hand twitched, her sleeve arrow aimed straight at his stomach.
One shot and she’d poke a hole in him—let out some of that nasty air in his gut.
Her fingers moved, ready to trigger the mechanism, when suddenly Grace remembered: those two weapons that didn’t need spiritual power… were both poisoned.
Deadly, throat-sealing poison!
She’d had these made just in case she lost her powers—purely for survival.
If you want to survive, you’ve got to kill your enemy.
And what’s better for killing than poison?
So... she couldn’t use the weapon after all.
She couldn’t kill a Spirit Master.
Every Spirit Master is protected by the laws of the Blue Moon Kingdom.
If one of them died, the authorities would definitely get involved.
And once the officials stepped in... even if she silenced these two, there might be others who knew about their meeting today. She’d get dragged into it.
If she got dragged out, she’d be exposed—and definitely hauled back...
Grace quietly put away her weapon and said, "Alright, I’ll do it. The General’s over at Frostmoon Quarters—I’ll go find him now."
She needed to get away first, then find some non-lethal weapons, and come up with another way to deal with these two.
Otherwise, they’d really be trouble.
Grace took a step back, then another.
As she retreated, she slipped into her Dimensional Bracelet, dashed toward the Hexagonal Ancient Tower, and grabbed her hidden weapons.
If you’re going to wander the martial world, how can you not carry a blade?
Back in the Vermilion Kingdom, survival was tough—she always kept all sorts of hidden weapons on her.
Single-shot, multi-shot, long-range, close-range—she had them all.
Before coming to the General’s Manor, she sorted through her old stash—anything that needed spiritual power to use, she packed away in a box.
There weren’t many hidden weapons that worked without spiritual power—just two, actually.
One was a sleeve arrow, the other was a bracelet.
She took the sleeve arrow and kept it hidden in her sleeve—no more retreating now.
Ruby’s brother stepped up to her, looked her up and down, and asked, "You’re Lily Bai, right?"
