Confrontation

1/4/2026

Cecilia Gu really, truly had no fondness whatsoever for this self-righteous Miss Helen Jiang.

But for Eric Jiang's sake, she was willing to try to forgive and accept her.

Just like Eric Jiang said, no matter what, the Yin Family and the Jiang Family are family after all.

Cecilia Gu spoke softly, "Alright, we're all family here, so why say such distant things? It's just that I'm getting heavier now, so I can't visit the Jiang Family as often. I hope my cousin and cousin-in-law won't be upset about that."

Seeing Cecilia Gu forgive Helen Jiang, Eric Jiang genuinely breathed a sigh of relief.

"How could we be upset? You need to take good care of yourself now." Eric Jiang smiled and said, "By the way, aren't you heading to the set later? Let me drive you there. Helen, wait here for me, I'll be right back."

Helen Jiang nodded, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

She then watched as Eric Jiang and Cecilia Gu walked out side by side.

As they reached the doorway, Cecilia Gu was suddenly tripped by the carpet beneath her feet.

Cecilia stumbled and instinctively reached out, grabbing Eric Jiang's arm.

Eric Jiang reacted even faster, reaching out and steadying Cecilia Gu in an instant.

"Careful," Eric Jiang blurted out with concern.

With Eric Jiang's help, Cecilia Gu managed to regain her balance.

Realizing her hand was still gripping Eric Jiang's, Cecilia quickly let go, apologizing, "Sorry, my belly keeps getting bigger and I can barely see the ground anymore. I almost dragged you down with me."

Eric Jiang's eyes flickered; in that moment when he caught her, he felt his heart nearly leap out of his chest.

He was really... starting to care...

"I'm fine, even if I fell it wouldn't matter. But you really need to be careful," Eric Jiang said, his gaze growing even softer.

Cecilia Gu didn't notice Eric Jiang's expression at all. She lowered her head and watched her step carefully, saying, "Forget it, I'll just take a cab home myself. You don't need to drive me."

Eric Jiang insisted, "No way. If you so much as bump into anything, the Yin Family will probably have my head."

Cecilia Gu chuckled softly, only then realizing that Charles Yin hadn't come to find her today...

For no apparent reason, a wave of emptiness washed over her heart...

Looks like he really does have something more important to deal with, huh?

Charles Yin obviously has some very important matters to attend to right now.

He's about to solve a mystery that's puzzled him for ages, and he's more focused than ever.

Meanwhile, Helen Jiang stood in the room, watching Eric Jiang’s genuine concern and protectiveness toward Cecilia. The more she saw, the more jealousy churned inside her.

She’d hurt others before, but she’d never been called out for it.

But ever since Cecilia Gu showed up, everything at home seemed to change quietly, beneath the surface.

It didn’t matter if others changed, but even her brother was different now!

Wasn’t he the one who said Nora Yun was the love of his life?

So why is he being so nice to Cecilia Gu now?

The way he looks at Cecilia now—how is it any different from the way he used to look at Nora Yun?

No, absolutely not!

He’s my brother—mine alone. Nobody else better even think about taking him away!

Helen Jiang watched Eric and Cecilia’s backs as they left, her eyes cold and venomous, no longer hiding her hatred for Cecilia.

Cecilia Gu... If you dare steal my brother from me, I’ll make you regret it for the rest of your life!

Cecilia had no idea Helen Jiang’s hatred toward her had just reached a new level. She simply followed Eric Jiang out of the dining room.

Truthfully, Cecilia would have preferred to go back alone, but Eric was adamant, so she had no choice but to get in his car and let him drive her back to the set.

Meanwhile, things on the other side had reached a critical moment.

Sylvia Ran pretended to accidentally spill red wine all over herself, then put on a panicked expression and said she needed to go wash it off.

Sean Kerr saw right through her little trick and played along, saying, "Since we're in a private room, there should be pajamas here, right? That dress probably won't come clean, so you'd better have someone send it out for dry cleaning."
