Letting Go and Granting Happiness

Cecilia Gu chuckled, "I never said I was going to control the lightning, did I?"

Cecilia looked outside and said, "The game only asks us to light a campfire, but it never said how big it had to be. So, let's make the biggest one we can!"

Cecilia turned and instructed her assistants, "There’s no rule in this game saying we can’t get help, right?"

The cameraman was about to speak, but Charles Yin shot him a look. Swallowing his words, the cameraman reluctantly replied, "N-no... there’s no rule..."

Cecilia immediately told the bodyguards, "Before it starts raining, hurry—find an open high spot, pile it with branches, pour on some flammable gasoline, and stick the lightning rod on top! According to the weather, you probably have ten minutes!"

The bodyguards moved impressively fast. Working together, they built a tall platform in minutes, and a slender lightning rod stood majestically among the branches.

Once the bodyguards retreated, sure enough, thunder cracked and fat raindrops began to pour down.

Everyone huddled in the tent, watching the rain wash over the weathered stone streets. Through the misty rain, the little village looked picturesque.

Cecilia held a small stove, leisurely boiling water for tea, while Xiao Wang set out snacks across the table.

The cameras faithfully broadcasted these scenes, making Rona Muir watch with envy.

"If I'd known, I would have gone too!" Rona Muir leaned against Jiro Hirayama and muttered, "Look at Sophie and Julian—no teamwork at all! If we were there, Cecilia's team wouldn't stand a chance."

Jiro Hirayama reached out and massaged Rona Muir's shoulders, knowing exactly where to press to relieve her fatigue.

"Mm." Jiro Hirayama replied lazily, "We'll go next time."

Rona Muir thought for a moment, then sighed, "Forget it, I can't even find time to play. There's enough family drama to keep me busy. Ah, I miss those days of traveling! Why did I have to start a company? Ugh..."

Jiro Hirayama smiled warmly, "How about we hand over the company and go join them?"

Rona Muir's eyes lit up, "Can we really? But there’s so much to do at Danni Cosmetics... If we just leave, is it really okay?"

Rona Muir hesitated, then bit her lip and said, "Never mind, let's not go! If we join them, Sean Kerr will definitely tag along too!"

Everyone knew exactly who 'he' was—Sean Kerr.

Jiro Hirayama's eyes darkened, but he said nothing.

Far away in the Capital, Max Mo watched Cecilia Gu quietly making tea on screen. He sighed softly, closed his eyes, and leaned back in his chair.

He could control the fate of countless people, or wipe a listed company off the map with ease.

It looked like he had everything, but there was still something he desperately wanted yet could never have.

Longing, but never attaining...

Is he destined to lose again in this life?

Max Mo gave a bitter smile, remembering what Grandpa Mo told him back in Fiji.

Grandpa Mo said, "Some people are meant to be companions in this life, but never truly yours. The harder you force it, the faster they'll run. When we arranged that engagement years ago, it was for the Mo Family’s sake. Back then, a marriage between our families was the best option. But times have changed, and those old ideas don’t fit anymore. There’s more than one way to maintain family ties—sometimes it’s about shared interests, not just marriage. If you force a melon to ripen, it won’t taste sweet; it might even wither. Do you want a wilted flower, or do you want to be the gardener who quietly admires it from the side?"

Back then, Max Mo resisted these words from his grandfather.

But now, thinking it over, it makes a lot of sense.

Cecilia Gu is like a flower—if you pick her, she’ll wither, just like Zara Yun once did.

Back then, Zara Yun faded so quickly. She was once a vibrant, spirited woman, but ended up bedridden, her beauty lost to illness and age.

If things had been different back then, would the ending have changed too?

Max Mo reached out and touched the photo on his desk. In the picture, Cecilia Gu smiled sweetly, her blue eyes full of warmth.

Someone knocked outside, "Mr. Mo, Lawyer Julia Yu is here."

Reluctantly, Max Mo tore his gaze from the photo. "Come in."

A petite woman walked in and shook hands with Max Mo. "I'm Julia Yu, here for our appointment."

Max Mo shook her hand gently, smiling softly. "Please, have a seat."

Julia Yu nodded slightly, sat across from him, opened her file, and slid it over. "Here are the documents you requested. I just have to ask—are you sure about this?"

"Yes." Max Mo carefully read through the documents, then signed his name at the bottom.

"Mr. Mo, if I may be blunt—you really don’t have to do this…" Julia Yu couldn’t help saying. "Even though you hired me to handle this, I still want to remind you, you’re being too selfless! And honestly, the other party doesn’t need your protection…"

"Since when did Lawyer Yu get so passionate?" Max Mo looked at her calmly. "I just want to do what I want. That’s all."

Julia Yu sighed helplessly. "Alright, I know I can’t change your mind! Here’s another contract—the research institute has found the most suitable egg, so IVF can start anytime. But Mr. Mo, are you sure you want to continue your family line this way?"

"There’s nothing wrong with it." Max Mo smiled faintly. "Even without a mother, I’ll still be a good father."

Julia Yu was at a loss for words.

After putting away the signed documents, Julia Yu stood up and took her leave.

As soon as Julia Yu left, Max Mo’s assistant approached her. "Lawyer Yu, Mrs. Mo would like to see you."

Julia Yu was surprised. "She wants me?"

The assistant nodded. "Mrs. Mo is downstairs."

Julia Yu sighed. "Alright, I’ll head down now."

Julia Yu quickly went downstairs. A car door opened, and she ducked inside.

The car quickly drove away.

Mrs. Mo sat with perfect poise across from Julia Yu, her presence putting Julia under considerable pressure.

"Is there something you need from me?" Julia Yu’s heart was pounding.

"I heard Max Mo asked you to allocate part of his assets to Cecilia Gu?" Mrs. Mo’s voice was low but commanding, making Julia Yu break out in a cold sweat.

"Yes..." Julia Yu lowered her head, not daring to meet Mrs. Mo’s gaze.

"And whose egg is Max Mo using for the IVF?" Mrs. Mo’s sharp eyes fixed on Julia Yu.

Julia Yu’s head shot up—how could she know...

Could it be...

Julia Yu answered with difficulty, "It... it’s mine..."

Mrs. Mo’s gaze grew even sharper.

Julia Yu quickly explained, "Please don’t misunderstand, it’s just a coincidence. I never expected this to happen! I donated the egg to help an infertile friend, but before the IVF, she got pregnant naturally. So I donated it to the egg bank, and I never imagined Mr. Mo would..."

Julia Yu felt awkward as she spoke. "If this bothers you, I can leave the Capital and never set foot here again. I really wasn’t trying to get close to the Mo Family. Honestly, I haven’t told anyone else about this. With your status, you could easily find out all the details. So you should know, I never had any inappropriate intentions toward Mr. Mo. I know there’s someone he can’t let go of, and I doubt any woman could ever enter his heart. I’m not that foolish, and I won’t overstep my bounds."

Mrs. Mo’s expression finally softened after hearing Julia Yu’s explanation.

"What a child..." Mrs. Mo said helplessly. "Alright, since everything’s clear, I won’t make things difficult for you. You don’t have to leave the Capital—I’m not that domineering. I’ll let the young people handle their own affairs! If Li Ka-shing’s son can stay single for life, my son can be a bachelor too. As long as he keeps the Mo Family line going, that’s enough."

After getting out of the car, Julia Yu’s eyes dimmed a little.

She couldn’t help but give a bitter smile.

What was she even thinking?

There were mountains and rivers between her and that man—how could she ever hope for more?

Forget it. Let this secret stay between just the two of them...

The tents were all connected, and from a distance, they looked like mushrooms sprouting from the earth.

In this thunderstorm, it all felt a bit bleak.

A crash of thunder exploded nearby, making Cecilia Gu’s hair stand on end!

The next second, Julian King, who’d been watching through binoculars, shouted with delight, "It really worked! Hahaha! Cecilia Gu, I’m honestly impressed! No wonder everyone says the Yun Family is amazing—you really are! The Yun Family’s talent is something else!"

Cecilia Gu looked at the roaring bonfire in the distance and smiled. "Yes, the Yun Family’s knowledge really is remarkable."

With help from Charles Yin and the Mo Family, the Yun Family had reopened their old courtyard and were gradually reviving its spirit.

It wouldn’t be long before the Yun Family returned to the stage of high society.

She had succeeded.

Sophie Mo sat across from Cecilia Gu with her arms crossed. "So, Cecilia, who won this round?"

Cecilia Gu grinned at her. "Your bodyguards stacked the firewood, your bodyguards buried the lightning rod—so of course you win."

Sophie Mo laughed and hugged Cecilia Gu, planting a big kiss on her cheek. "I knew you were the best!"

Charles Yin and Julian King both shook their heads helplessly and exchanged glances.

It was as if they both saw the resignation in each other’s eyes.

The rainstorm came quickly and left just as fast.

After more than an hour of thunder and rain, it stopped as suddenly as it had begun.
