Brocade Gravely Wounded and Unconscious

Her master laughed, "Don't rush. Whoever laughs last is the real winner. I refuse to believe he can overturn everything now. Even without him, I can still carry out my world-annihilation plan. And in the end, he's the key person for my final breakthrough—I'll devour him!"

Lady Raksha asked suspiciously, "Master, what exactly do you need to do?"

"Now, every time we invade a world-realm, we gain control over those with weak morals. Our force is enormous now, and I'll leave this army to you. As for Evan Yang, I'll handle him myself." Her master pondered for a moment before speaking.

"Yes." Lady Raksha replied. Then Lady Raksha left with the Ten Dread Spirits, while her master laughed heartily, "Evan Yang, I'm coming. Since you won't obey me, I'll have to destroy you first."

Afterward, he vanished like a gust of wind. When he appeared again, he was already in Evan Yang's world-realm.

Everyone in Evan Yang's world-realm immediately sensed an oppressive feeling. Evan rose into the void and saw a vast mass of black smoke spreading across the realm, with a pair of blue eyes floating in the void, staring at him. "Long time no see," said the eyes.

At that moment, Grandmaster Left-Edge and the others rushed out. Evan heard the voice and found it strangely familiar, so he asked suspiciously, "Why does your voice sound so familiar to me?"

"Of course it's familiar. I'm the Elder Woodspirit you respected." The voice chuckled. Evan's eyes widened as countless memories converged in his mind. He finally asked in shock, "You're the Woodspirit from the Wood Temple?"

"That was just my escape plan. I hadn't fully recovered at the time. Now that I'm restored, who among you can oppose me?" The black cloud in the sky laughed loudly.

Evan could never have imagined that the mastermind he'd been tracking was actually Woodspirit—the Elder Woodspirit everyone spoke of. Evan found it hard to believe, "I never expected it to be you. I really can't believe it. The Elder Woodspirit everyone admired turned out to be someone like this."

"Of course. Otherwise, how could I let you travel to other world-realms? That was just a place for you to temper yourself." Elder Woodspirit smiled.

At this moment, Evan still found it hard to believe, but he had to accept it. Too many things connected together now—Wood Palace Lord's sudden soul transfer, and other events—all of which resembled the actions of a world-realm master. There was only one possibility: they were all in it together from the start.

"So you didn't just come here today to wipe us out, did you?" Evan asked.

"Destroy you? I have no such interest yet. I'll give you a choice: one, follow me; two, I devour you. Although I don't know why the Heaven-Cold Seed is no longer under my control, I can still devour it." Elder Woodspirit laughed.

Evan chuckled, "For that, I have to thank a certain encounter. Someone told me there was a problem with the Heaven-Cold Seed and drove away all its evil qi. Otherwise, I wouldn't be standing here right now."

"Damn it, someone actually managed to drive away my evil qi!" Elder Woodspirit cursed once he realized what had happened.

"Evil can never triumph over good—don't you understand that? And let me make this clear: I'm going to oppose you all the way. I refuse to be your tool." Evan declared.

"Well said! You refuse to be my tool, so you've chosen the second option: devouring. In that case, I won't hold back." Elder Woodspirit laughed loudly, and then a mass of black smoke swept up Evan. In full view of everyone, he was lifted into the air. Grandmaster Left-Edge and the others tried to help, but their strength was no match for that being.

Grandmaster Left-Edge and Grandmaster Armybreaker were both swept to the ground by a tendril of black smoke and slammed down hard.

"Damn it, just how strong is he?" Grandmaster Left-Edge exclaimed in disbelief.

Grandmaster Armybreaker pondered, "Maybe he's already reached the final stage—just one step away from transcending the Heavenly Dao."

"Can anyone really transcend the Heavenly Dao?" Grandmaster Left-Edge asked in disbelief.

After seeing that even Grandmaster Left-Edge and Grandmaster Armybreaker couldn't withstand a single attack, Gavin White and the others were shocked and rushed forward, only to be severely injured and forced back.

When Gavin White saw Evan Yang immobilized in midair, she cried out, "No!" The faces of everyone in the Yang clan turned ashen, and some even began to weep, knowing that Evan likely wouldn't escape this time.

Liam Yang said to Gavin White, "Mother, if we die, I'll die with Father."

"No, your child hasn't been born yet. When your child is born, you must take good care of them." Gavin White said to Liam, then rose, ready to die with Evan Yang if necessary.

Brocade and Jade Rabbit may not be human, but their bond with Evan Yang is as deep as any person's. At this moment, their hearts ached, wishing they could take his place.

Suspended in midair, Evan Yang felt unbearable pain as a strange power invaded his body. He knew that if this continued, he would be completely devoured.

Faced with this situation, Evan Yang shouted into the sky, "Armor!"

As soon as Evan Yang called for his armor, a set of black battle armor appeared on his body, instantly blocking the black smoke. He could move freely again. Standing tall and gasping for breath, Evan gripped the Limitless Spear and shouted, "Woodspirit! Don't think you can get your way!"

"That's your new armor? It's certainly powerful, but I refuse to believe there's any armor I can't break." Woodspirit snorted coldly, then sent wave after wave of massive black smoke crashing into Evan Yang's body, pounding him until blood was forced out.

Blood trickled from Evan Yang's lips. He couldn't muster any strength, already half-crippled. Woodspirit snorted, "Let me tell you, no matter how strong you are, before me, your strength is nothing but an ant."

Evan Yang looked up and laughed, "An ant, huh? Then let me show you—an ant can bite an elephant to death." As he spoke, invisible barriers formed around him, and colorless flames erupted everywhere.

Woodspirit, suddenly weakened, sneered, "You think weakening me makes you safe? Even if I'm suppressed, my power is still something you can't resist." With that, Woodspirit continued his assault on Evan Yang.

At this point, Evan Yang gripped the Limitless Spear, using his colorless flame and invisible barriers to contend with Woodspirit. After being suppressed, Woodspirit and Evan were evenly matched, neither gaining the upper hand.

"Incredible—even with half his power cut, he can still fight Evan Yang to a standstill." Grandmaster Left-Edge exclaimed. Grandmaster Armybreaker could hardly believe it, "What kind of monster is this guy, anyway?"

"He's not a monster. If he's really Woodspirit, then you should know—the Immortal Realm saw something like this long ago." Grandmaster Left-Edge said to Grandmaster Armybreaker.

Grandmaster Armybreaker was stunned. "I remember now. There was a tree demon with a long lifespan who was seriously wounded by a human and then vanished, never to be seen again. But that person disappeared too."

"Exactly. And that person was the peak of humanity—maybe he already surpassed the Heavenly Dao and left the Chaos World." Grandmaster Left-Edge nodded.

"If only he were still here—then someone could finally deal with him." Grandmaster Armybreaker sighed.

Grandmaster Left-Edge said helplessly, "It's almost impossible. If he were going to appear, he'd have done so long ago. He wouldn't let this chaos happen."

Grandmaster Left-Edge's words made Grandmaster Armybreaker's hope fade. They knew how terrifying this tree demon once was—he nearly destroyed the entire Immortal Realm and all world-realms, reaching the peak of the Heavenly Dao. No one could match him, except that person from back then.

Hearing Grandmaster Left-Edge and Grandmaster Armybreaker's words, everyone felt even heavier, as if Evan Yang was about to leave this world for good.

At this moment, Evan Yang could still contend with his opponent, but Woodspirit's internal power was greater. If it came down to endurance, Evan would surely lose.

Evan Yang wielded the Limitless Spear, unleashing every attribute he had. Aside from inflicting a few minor wounds, nothing else worked.

"Evan Yang, I know you too well. So many attributes—but in front of me, they're useless. Even though you've weakened me, I bet you won't last to the end." Woodspirit laughed. Secretly, he hoped Evan would endure as long as possible, because the stronger Evan was, the better for him—absorbing Evan would help him break free of the Heavenly Dao and finally find his old enemy.

Evan Yang snorted, "Fine, let's see who lasts to the end."

The two continued their battle across Evan Yang's world-realm, eventually leaving the realm altogether. They fought from place to place, day and night, without pause.

"This can't go on." Grandmaster Left-Edge sighed. At that moment, Brocade said to Jade Rabbit, "Sister Jade Rabbit, my life belongs to Boss. Today, I'm giving it back to him."

"What are you doing?" Jade Rabbit exclaimed in shock.

Brocade just smiled, then sped off toward the battlefield where Evan Yang and Woodspirit were fighting.

Everyone's attention was on Evan Yang and the others, so no one noticed Brocade until he suddenly appeared at the battlefield—startling them all. Evan was also alarmed and shouted, "Get back!"

"Boss, my life is yours. Today, let me give it back to you." Brocade said, then began to burn with power—his strength surged as he targeted the black smoke and attacked it with all his might.

Evan Yang roared, "No! Get back!"

"It's already too late," Brocade replied. He'd already struck the black smoke several times. Woodspirit sneered, "Just an incomplete, trashy beast. Burning yourself won't hurt me."

Woodspirit wrapped Brocade up, ignoring his burning state, and flung him aside. Evan Yang cried out in alarm, "Brocade!"

Jade Rabbit flashed to Brocade's side. Seeing he was unconscious, she cried sadly, "Big brother, he's passed out!"

Evan Yang was furious and shouted coldly, "Woodspirit, it's you and me—one of us dies today!"
