Idiot?
Lynn Chen was stunned for a moment after hearing Evan's words.
She looked at Evan, blinked, and as she heard the sounds coming from outside the window, Lynn instinctively started to turn her head to look.
"Don't look. There's nothing worth seeing."
Evan's voice sounded in her ear.
Lynn was curious, but she obediently nodded.
If he said not to look, then she wouldn't. There really wasn't anything she had to see.
After ordering, the waitress left.
Evan sat quietly, drinking his tea. Lynn ordered a bottle of pure milk.
"Where have you been these past few days?"
Lynn was never great at making small talk. Whenever she went out to eat, it was usually others struggling to keep the conversation going, trying to get her attention.
Most of the time, Lynn just echoed whatever was said, only speaking more when it was a topic she actually liked. But Evan was even more quiet, which made things tricky for her.
Lynn thought about a lot. Before this, she’d had countless things she wanted to say to Evan, but when they finally met, she realized she didn’t know where to start.
"Evan."
At last, after biting her straw for the fifth time, Lynn finally lifted her head and looked at Evan sitting across from her.
Her gaze landed on his face—on his expression. He looked the same as always, but his eyes and aura were way more composed and mature than before.
"What's wrong?"
Evan looked at her, his eyes calm.
"I don’t really know what you’re doing now, or what you want to do in the future, or what your life goals are."
Lynn took a deep breath, summoned her courage, and spoke with determination.
Just like that day after graduation, when she ran in front of the whole school—sprinting down the corridor, past all her classmates, chasing after the boy who’d just left the classroom, light as the wind.
That was the bravest moment of Lynn’s life. Even now, thinking back, her heart still races with nervousness and anxiety, but she never regretted it for a second.
Evan met Lynn’s gaze, looking at her without a word.
"But no matter what, please believe that if you ever need help, you can come to me. I’ll always support you."
Lynn spoke as she looked at him.
Her words sounded ordinary, nothing special—more like a promise than anything else.
But at that moment, Lynn’s earnest and serious expression genuinely stunned Evan for a second.
Then Evan grew serious, nodded, and said, "I understand. Thank you."
Hearing his thanks, Lynn felt truly happy, even though she knew she couldn’t really help him right now.
So Lynn made up her mind: after dinner, she’d go back to school and work even harder—study more, grow faster—hoping that one day she could actually help Evan.

The hotpot arrived quickly.
The spicy oil in the pot bubbled, and all the side dishes were brought out one after another.
"Let’s eat."
Evan spoke, Lynn nodded, and as they ate, the hotpot restaurant’s door was pushed open again.
"Hello, welcome! How many in your party?"
The waitress walked up, her tone brightening as she saw the man who came in.
Handsome.
Really handsome.
The man looked like he’d walked straight out of an anime—just one glance, and he was way more striking than any movie star.
Besides that, his aura was extraordinary.
The moment he walked in, all the female staff instinctively looked his way. That glance sent a rush of excitement through many hearts.
"I’m here to find a friend."
Harvey Liu smiled gently, looking refined, but his tone held a subtle distance.
He looked at every woman with a kind of aloofness. Unlike most guys who try to impress girls, Harvey had always been the one pursued.
"Alright, if you need anything, just let me know."
The waitress nodded, and just from Harvey glancing at her, her heart started racing.
That fluttery feeling was entirely because of his handsome face.
Harvey surveyed the room, ignoring all the stares. He walked calmly, then headed straight to a table by the window.
"What a coincidence, Lynn Chen, we meet again."
Harvey stood by the table, smiling, but his gaze shifted to Evan as he spoke.
"Why are you here?"
Lynn was startled by his words, turned to look at Harvey, and immediately frowned. "I already told you, I don’t want to give you my number!"
"Let me say it again—I don’t want to know you, and I don’t want any connection with you at all."
Her voice was tinged with anger.
Hearing her words, Harvey didn’t show any hint of annoyance. He still smiled and said, "It’s fine, it’s fine. I won’t force you."
"We’re all alumni, and I just wanted some hotpot. Eating alone is boring, so how about I join you? We can all eat together."
"Hotpot’s more fun with a crowd."
"Brother, what do you think?"
Harvey didn’t ask Lynn, but instead stared straight at Evan.
