Offended

Ah!

A sudden, miserable scream rang out.

On the boat, a group of people still hadn't understood what had happened.

Mia Chen and her friends paused, then quickly turned to look.

Victor Zhou and the other boys still looked dazed.

None of them had the guts to mouth off in front of the Ren heir.

"What happened?" Mia Chen's face went pale.

Several girls all stepped back in unison.

The Ren heir smiled.

"He was eaten."

Evan Lin looked at the surface of the sea, frowning.

The thing under the sea was too fast; the time it took to swallow that man was almost instantaneous.

Evan only caught a glimpse of a black shadow out of the corner of his eye.

Then it vanished.

From the feel of it, that thing wasn't particularly strong.

"Interesting."

The Ren heir's voice wasn't loud, but his aura was strong.

The force shot forward, knocking the severed hand that was clutching the ladder into the sea.

But the person speaking was the Ren heir from Seahaven Island.

Looking down from above, they saw a black shadow flash by again beneath the surface.

"Just wait and see." The Ren heir's gaze returned to Evan Lin, his eyes cold.

Looking down from above, the shadow looked like a giant fish.

"There really are monsters under the water..." Emily Yi remembered what that man had said earlier and muttered to herself.

"Could it be a shark?" Emily Yi next to her was still shaken.

Evan Lin shook his head, having no intention of going in to fish that thing out.

He'd only wanted to confirm whether such a thing really existed.

He returned to the cabin.

The two men who'd just climbed aboard saw Evan Lin and shrank back in terror.

Terrified they'd be tossed into the sea by Evan again.

Evan Lin entered the cabin once more.

Many people looked at Evan Lin with fear in their eyes.

"I just tossed your men into the sea—don't you have anything to say about it?"

Evan Lin sat across from the Ren heir, looked at him, and spoke calmly.

"You'll regret it," the Ren heir squinted his eyes.

From start to finish, he never once lost his composure; his gaze was icy, staring at Evan Lin with undisguised chill. "You're the first person to come to Seahaven Island and dare to act so arrogant in front of me."

"If I were you, I'd already be thinking of ways to get off this ship before it docks at Seahaven Island."

Evan Lin glanced at Mia Chen, who stood beside him looking conflicted.

If anyone else had said these words, the people around would have laughed at them.

Evan Lin didn't have a bad impression of Mia Chen as class monitor.

So these words carried real weight.

On the boat, some regulars to Seahaven Island looked at Evan Lin with nothing but sympathy in their eyes.

"Maybe just let it go,"

Mia Chen stood beside Evan Lin and spoke softly.

Emily Yi and her group weren't far away.

The Ren heir, unhurried, looked at Evan Lin and sneered. "So this is why you stepped forward just now?"

None of them had the guts to mouth off in front of the Ren Family young master.

Especially since, not long ago, they'd watched someone get eaten by some unknown monster under the sea.

"Let it go?"

The Ren Family young master smiled.

He glanced at Mia Chen. "I think you look pretty good. I was just about to invite you to sit down for a nice chat."

"I'm giving you a huge amount of face here."

"There are countless women more beautiful than you who want to win my favor, but you just don't know what's good for you."

"And now, not only do you not appreciate it, you let the person beside you toss my men into the sea to feed the fish—and now you tell me to let it go?"

The Ren Family young master sat there, looking at Mia Chen with utter disdain. "Woman, what are you supposed to be?"

Mia Chen's expression changed slightly.

She had never been spoken to like that before.

Mia Chen bit her lip, left completely deflated by his words.

At the end of the day, she was just an ordinary girl from an ordinary family.

"Yeah, it's not that easy to let it go."

Evan Lin sat there, nodding slightly. "I'm looking forward to seeing what your Ren Family can do to me once I set foot on Seahaven Island."

"Just wait and see." The Ren Family young master's gaze returned to Evan Lin, his eyes cold.

The cruise ship kept moving forward.

"What's this guy even trying to do?" The boy next to Victor Zhou watched Evan Lin's attitude and muttered, "There's really no need to make things so tense. Now he's got that guy really pissed off."

"What if, once we're on Seahaven Island, he actually has us all arrested? Is he stupid? Doesn't he know how to avoid trouble?"

They were thoroughly terrified by now.

"Don't worry. Once we're on Seahaven Island, Ethan Lu will be there. I don't think this guy will do anything to us." another boy said.

As soon as he said that, the boy who'd been worried a moment ago suddenly relaxed.

"I get it now!"

"Ethan Lu's family has real influence on Seahaven Island. That kid just stood up for Mia Chen to win Ethan Lu's favor!"

"Once we're on Seahaven Island, Ethan Lu will make sure we're safe."

"That kid really thinks things through! No wonder he didn't toss that Ren Family young master into the sea—if he had, they'd be mortal enemies. But since he didn't, everything's still negotiable."

Thinking of this, Victor Zhou and the other boys suddenly felt waves of regret.

They regretted not having the backbone to stand up a bit more just now.

If they had, maybe they could've won back a little face in front of the girls.

Ethan Lu was, in their eyes, the real powerhouse.

"Don't just stand there. Go sit down."

Evan Lin glanced at Mia Chen, who stood beside him looking conflicted.

He sighed inwardly.

Evan Lin didn't have a bad impression of Mia Chen as class monitor.

If she hadn't stubbornly insisted that Evan Lin was just playing dumb to get close to her, deliberately hiding his abilities—and then kept her distance because of it.

Evan Lin didn't mind; since she'd once helped him with his studies, he decided to give her a stroke of luck.

"I'll just sit right here, then."

Mia Chen heard Evan Lin and immediately sat down beside him.

"Tsk, so you're planning to go down with him?"

The Ren Family young master, unhurried, looked at Evan Lin and sneered. "So this is why you stepped forward just now?"

"To win a woman's gratitude, so she'll willingly follow you into trouble."

"But what's the point?"

"For this woman, you offend me. You have no idea what price you'll pay for that!"

He smiled, still unhurried.

"On this point, I agree with you."

Evan Lin looked at him, his expression calm.

"For the sake of a woman, you've offended me."

"You also have no idea what price you and your family will pay for it."

"I hope, when the time comes, you'll still be smiling."
