Plans to Return to the Capital Delayed

12/2/2025

Prince Ling never saw the little spicy pepper he longed for come out of the kitchen. The guests at the Serenity Vegetarian Bistro gradually finished their meals and left. Outside, the sky darkened. A servant preparing to close the shop walked over and was surprised to see the young lord still there. "Ah? Young lord, why are you still here?"

Prince Ling stood up and said, "The guests have all left, and the kitchen must be done with its work. Why haven't I seen your boss Su come out?"

The servant replied puzzled, "Boss Su went home a long time ago, young lord. We're closing up now; please, you should head back as well."

Gone home...

Gone home...

Gone home...

Prince Ling was instantly stunned. It was the first time in his life he had ever waited for someone—especially a woman!

He had waited half the day, skipped both lunch and afternoon meals, his stomach growling from hunger, all just to see that little spicy pepper once—but she had gone home!

The attendant beside Prince Ling looked at his expression and was instantly terrified.

His Highness was stood up by a woman. This is bad, very bad. Would they be in trouble?

Sure enough, the next moment, Prince Ling's anger surged violently. His face darkened as he furiously swept his sleeves and stormed off.

Two attendants hurried to follow. Prince Ling was hungry and it was getting colder as night fell. Cold and hungry, his mood was extremely sour. He stormed back to his villa and slammed the table as soon as he entered.

"That woman actually dared to refuse to see me!" Prince Ling clenched his fists tightly. His handsome face flushed slightly with anger. He took a deep breath and glanced at the plum blossom in the courtyard, red as snow, standing proudly against the wind, pure and unyielding. It suddenly reminded him of how that little spicy pepper scolded him for not following the rules.

She had the same proud spirit—beneath that beautiful and delicate exterior, there was a rebellious streak in her bones.

The attendants had long since retreated far away, afraid of being caught in the crossfire.

Prince Ling stayed inside for a long time, gradually calming down. He sat under the corridor in the courtyard, looking at the plum blossom branch. The image of the little spicy pepper vividly appeared in his mind, refusing to fade away.

Once his mood fully settled, Prince Ling ordered food to be brought in.

The meal was naturally exquisite. Although very hungry, Prince Ling still ate with elegance. Yet, as he looked at the delicate dishes on his plate, his mind drifted to the dishes he had seen earlier at the Serenity Vegetarian Bistro.

The colors, aromas, and flavors were perfect, as exquisite as a painting. From the diners' amazed and satisfied faces, he could even guess how delicious those vegetarian dishes must have been.

And those delicacies were prepared by the delicate hands of that little spicy pepper.

What a magical pair of hands...

Prince Ling lowered his head, looking at the food on his plate, suddenly finding it tasteless. Now, he only wanted to try the delicacies personally made by the little spicy pepper.

Outside, a guard came to report, "Prince Ling, Xiao Zetian's body has been sealed in a coffin and secretly sent back to the capital. When do you plan to depart for the capital? I can prepare in advance."

Prince Ling paused with his chopsticks. He knew the best choice was to return to the capital immediately, finalize his engagement with Princess Mingyu, and marry as soon as possible.

But for some reason, the image of the woman he had only met once kept appearing in his mind.

I haven't yet tasted that legendary vegetarian dish that tastes like meat, nor have I brought this extraordinarily business-savvy woman into my fold. Since I've come this far, why not settle this matter before leaving?

If that little spicy pepper joins me, with her money-making skills, my grand cause will be greatly strengthened!

Yes, I'm staying not for a woman, but for my grand cause!

Prince Ling immediately found himself a very convincing reason and calmly said to the attendant, "I have other matters to attend to. The trip back to the capital is postponed. Also, investigate the background of Boss Su from the Serenity Vegetarian Bistro."

"Yes, Your Highness."
