Viper Den Assault

Chapter 1305

First, Leon pointed out the crisis looming over the Parkinson Family, then foretold their impending deaths, leaving Lord Parkinson unable to think rationally. After being cured of the poison, the emotional rollercoaster left Lord Parkinson staring at Leon with a complicated expression.

The deadly poison that could have killed him without warning could be resolved with an alchemical potion from the Gilded Rose...

Lord Parkinson remained silent for several minutes before suddenly raising his head.

"Archmage Leon Merlin, my son is in the hands of the Viper Bandit Group. I cannot defy their orders."

Leon nodded.

"Give me the coordinates. I will bring your son back."

Upon hearing Leon's words, Lord Parkinson nodded eagerly.

Rumor had it that the true owner of the Gilded Rose was someone named Archmage Leon Merlin. To think the rumor was true—and his alchemical mastery was terrifying. That vial of Life Potion was seven or eight times stronger than any I had ever seen. With his strength and skill, he would never fear the Viper Bandit Group or their leader, Viper...

And the Rodney Family had tried to seize it by force before—the notorious necromancer nearly got killed at the Gilded Rose's gates. Even if the Gilded Rose wasn't as powerful as the Rodney Family, it was not far behind.

With Archmage Leon Merlin's help, saving my son and guiding the family through this crisis is all that matters. Everything else can wait...

"Archmage, these are the coordinates for the Viper Den..."

Lord Parkinson handed Leon a set of coordinates, then fell silent, unsure what else to say. Leon glanced at Lord Parkinson, then casually opened a Portal Gate, appearing high above the target location—five thousand meters in the air. It was the least conspicuous way to arrive, since the space up there was more unstable and the ripple from opening the Portal Gate wouldn't travel far.

Watching Leon open the Portal Gate with such ease and step through, Lord Parkinson's face turned pale.

Opening a Portal Gate is almost instinctive for a Sky Rank mage. After advancing to Sky Rank, every mage can comprehend some aspects of the Law of Space—after all, creating a demi-plane involves those same laws.

But for most Sky Rank mages—at least those below Level 5—using a Portal Gate is extremely limited.

They can only open a Portal Gate once or twice a day, and only if they've marked the coordinates beforehand, with no powerful interference nearby. The restrictions are severe—practical only at fixed, marked locations.

To open a Portal Gate near a coordinate and calculate the exact position requires at least a Sky Rank Level 5 mage with a solid grasp of the Law of Space.

Alternatively, only mages who specialize in the Law of Space can manage such feats...

Lord Parkinson's face was pale. He hadn't sensed Leon's true strength before, but seeing him open a Portal Gate so effortlessly, he realized his little schemes might be best abandoned...

On the other side, Leon opened the Portal Gate and appeared five thousand meters above the ground, where the temperature was frigid and the mana violently chaotic. Fortunately, the mana density here was much lower than on the surface, so no elemental storms formed.

As Leon spent more time in his demi-plane comprehending the Law of Space, his understanding soared. He even deciphered over three hundred new Runes of Truth—a significant breakthrough, marking another step toward becoming a Saint Alchemist.

The number of rule sigils condensed from the Law of Space had climbed past two hundred, meaning Leon could now cast space magic in battle—his spells powerful enough to shift the tide.

Opening a Portal Gate at precise coordinates was now a skill that rivaled those of mages specializing in spatial magic.

Floating in midair, Leon cast Eagle's Eye and looked down. Thick mist blanketed the ground, eerily silent as if nothing alive remained. Three kilometers away, through a ripple in the fog, he could just make out traces of a structure.

Masking his mana fluctuations and presence, Leon slowly descended into the mist below. The haze had a faint green tinge, laced with potent toxins. In the forest, only the dark green, poison-resistant trees survived, alongside a few magical plants—bloodthirsty vines, carnivorous man-eating flowers, and bone marrow blossoms clinging to piles of skeletons.

The forest was eerily quiet, broken only by the occasional rustle. Leon frowned—his magical senses revealed that everything moving here was venomous: toxic insects, snakes, ants, but not a single bird or beast.

According to intelligence, the Viper Bandit Group's base was well-known, not exactly secret. Yet after all these years, they thrived for one reason—their den was shrouded in toxic mist that never dissipated.

Years ago, the Viper Bandit Group provoked a top-ranked family from the Odin Kingdom, who sent an army to wipe them out. A Sky Rank hurricane mage unleashed a transcendent spell—howling winds swept through the forest, stripping away most of the plants and animals, but the toxic mist remained.

It wasn't that the mist couldn't be dispersed—its concentration would fade, but soon returned to its original state. The army that entered the fog, save for Title Archmages and Sky Rank mages, were all consumed by the poison: their flesh rotted, their bodies torn apart, dying before any healing could reach them, left as piles of bones.
