Chapter 635: Adamantine Box

Aside from that Alchemical Golem, Leon's strongest asset was this Lich. If the Lich could advance to level thirty-eight, it would be a tremendous boost—at least then, when facing that level thirty-eight Death Knight, he wouldn't have to keep it hidden out of caution.

The level suppression among undead creatures was far too severe. Leon wasn't a Necromancer, so he couldn't make his summoned undead ignore that suppression. Without exemption, if his undead were lower level than the enemy, it was as good as sending them to their deaths.

Damn it, now there's no hope of leveling up. Whatever—there are so many undead here, let this guy devour a few more soul flames. Maybe he'll at least recover to level thirty-seven.

Leon put away the Lich and looked at the pit corroded by the viscous black poison. It was already four or five meters wide, more than a meter deep, and the black poison was finally running out.

Just as he was about to turn and leave, Leon caught a glint of metal out of the corner of his eye.

Turning back, he saw that in the pit carved out by the black poison, a corner of a metal box was exposed. As the poison slowly dissipated, the entire box gradually came into view.

It shimmered with a deep blue light, its surface dotted as if with tiny stars.

"Is this really a box made of pure Adamantine?"

Leon was astonished. This was pure extravagance. Adamantine could even serve as the main material for True Spirit magical artifacts. In the future, many Heaven-tier Sword Saints would be obsessed with forging weapons with Adamantine at their core. Weapons made entirely of Adamantine naturally had a magic-annihilating effect—piercing a mage's magical shield would be as simple as poking through paper.

That black poison contained immense death energy and potent toxicity—it had corroded a pit more than a meter deep into what was supposed to be an indestructible ship hull and still wasn’t spent. Yet the metal box was completely unharmed. If it wasn’t made entirely of Adamantine, Leon would never believe it.

Hidden inside a nearly indestructible ship hull and perfectly concealed by pure Adamantine, it was impossible to detect with any magic—unless you saw it directly.

If someone said it wasn’t anything valuable after all this trouble to hide it, they’d be insulting everyone’s intelligence.

Even just a box made entirely of Adamantine would be worth a king’s ransom.

Should I take it or not?

It was practically within reach! The black poison was almost gone—leaving it there would be a crime.

Even with that monster still lurking below, Leon couldn't bring himself to leave it behind.

He waved his hand and summoned three Stone Golems, sending them to the edge of the pit. One Stone Golem jumped straight in, and the remaining black poison immediately began corroding it at a frightening rate.

Another Stone Golem leapt onto the back of the one in the pit and grabbed the metal box.

At that moment, a surge of black smoke billowed out from the small hole, instantly forming three or four black tendrils that shot toward the Stone Golems in the pit.
