I'm Really Scared Now

Margaret Wan's face was ashen, drained of all color.

What did this mean?

It meant that Margaret Wan would never recover her status!

She would remain a concubine for the rest of her life!

Her children would always be considered illegitimate!

Her legs gave out and she collapsed to the floor, tears streaming down her face.

Kevin Zhuo rushed over to help her up.

Seeing her like this, a flash of guilt crossed Minister Zhuo's eyes. He walked over and helped her up, saying, "Margaret, don't be like this. Yes, there was an ominous sign today, but the Grand Priest only said that today's event should not continue. He didn't say anything else."

"Minister, how could this happen?" Margaret sobbed. "Why did it turn out this way? I've been married into the Zhuo family for over twenty years, given birth to two daughters and a son. Cindy is even the Empress now! Could I really bring disaster to the Zhuo family?"

"Of course not, don't overthink it," Minister Zhuo said. "Kevin, help your aunt back to her room."

Kevin Zhuo frowned and nodded, then helped his mother back to her room.

The second uncle who started all this opened his mouth, but said nothing.

That thunderclap just now had really scared him too.

If what the Grand Priest said was true, and Margaret Wan's promotion to co-head wife would bring disaster to the whole Zhuo family, then as an important member of the family, he was naturally afraid too.

So, even though he had a lot at stake, compared to the rise and fall of the whole Zhuo family, he didn't dare say much.

Grace covered her mouth and secretly giggled.

She was honestly pretty surprised too.

She hadn't expected Li Zan to actually summon lightning!

That trick was awesome—no need to say anything, it instantly shut everyone up!

But... how did he summon that lightning? Was it some kind of magic trick?

"Grace!" Suddenly, Minister Zhuo called out to her.

"Dad."

"Come with me." Minister Zhuo led her to a quiet spot and, in a hushed voice, asked, "Tell me, how did the Grand Priest do it? How could he summon lightning?"

"No idea!" Grace said. "Who can just summon lightning out of nowhere? Maybe it's some kind of magic trick!"

"Magic trick?" Minister Zhuo frowned. "I was standing pretty close to the Grand Priest, and I could definitely feel the electricity—my whole body tingled!"

"Well, maybe that's just the Grand Priest's skill!" Grace said. "It was so realistic! I was scared too!"

Minister Zhuo thought for a moment, then said, "Grace, go to the General's Manor again and thank the General. Also, ask him to find out from the Grand Priest how he pulled off that lightning trick."

"Oh..."

"By the way, did you give that box I gave you to the General?"

"I did." Grace raised her brows, pretending not to know, and asked, "Dad, I saw there was a letter in that box. What did you write?"

"Oh, that's... that's a thank-you letter I wrote to General Evan Xiao."

"Really? Why would you put a thank-you letter in a puzzle box?"

Weren't you afraid I'd peek?

Minister Zhuo coughed. "Grown-up business, don't worry about it. Tell me, did the General give you a reply?"

"Nope."

Minister Zhuo looked a little disappointed and asked, "Then, after reading the letter, how did he look?"

"His expression... he honestly looked pretty unhappy!" Grace said on purpose.

"Unhappy? Are you sure?" Minister Zhuo's eyes widened.

"Yeah, really unhappy. I asked him what you wrote, and he wouldn't tell me either."

"That's odd... He should've been happy. Why wasn't he?" Minister Zhuo was totally confused.
