"How dare you ruin my plans!"
The True-Immortal Layman watched helplessly as all the inner force and energy he'd painstakingly siphoned from the crowd was instantly absorbed by this kid in front of him. His whole face twisted with rage.
He shouted angrily, but the moment his eyes met the boy's gaze, the True-Immortal Layman froze inside.
He suddenly felt a sense of danger for no apparent reason.
"Pathetic clown."
Evan Lin sneered, stepped forward, and in a flash appeared right in front of the True-Immortal Layman.
Everyone saw the young man casually slap, and with just one hand, the once-ferocious True-Immortal Layman was sent flying.
His body crashed straight into a pile of rubble.
A moment later, the True-Immortal Layman struggled up from the dust, coughing nonstop, clutching his chest, and glaring at Evan Lin with pure venom.
"He's a scammer!"
The crowd—someone nearby shouted loudly.
Only now did everyone finally understand what had just happened.
"You just figured it out? Isn't that a bit late?"
Evan Lin swept his gaze around, standing there with cold eyes. "Let me spell it out for you."
"Anyone who took the Spirit-Test Beads test—you lost not just your inner force, but your very foundation. No matter how hard you train from now on, you'll never fully recover your peak strength, let alone advance any further in martial arts."
As soon as Evan finished speaking, the already furious crowd exploded.
Everyone present looked pale, their eyes blazing with anger.
"You knew this guy was a scammer and still made me call him master!"
Colin Liu's face flushed with rage, his whole body trembling.
He was in the worst shape, since he deliberately cut open his palm, so the Spirit-Test Beads drained him the most thoroughly.
Colin Liu tried several times to gather inner force, but failed every time.
His body felt empty, and now he was dizzy, almost fainting.
"That was your choice."
Evan glanced at him. "Weren't you dying to become the Ancient-Martial Liu clan's little immortal god?"
"I just helped you fulfill your wish. You were grinning so happily just now—rare sight, honestly."
Evan's two sentences made Colin Liu so angry he almost collapsed again.
"You knew he was a scammer and didn't warn us!" Someone stepped out of the crowd, pointing at Evan's face, full of fury.
"You did this on purpose! You wanted to see us humiliated, see our cultivation ruined!" Another person glared, firing off accusations.
"You must be in league with him! Now our cultivation is wrecked, and you're the only one who benefits. How are you going to compensate us?"
They'd all heard the True-Immortal Layman's earlier shout, and now, seeing the sudden surge of power from the boy standing before them, they instantly understood.
Their inner force had already been absorbed into the body of the boy before them.
The only one who truly benefited was this boy.
"Are you all insane?!"
Queenie Tong couldn't hold back and shouted at them, "If it weren't for him, you'd all still be completely clueless!"
"The one who scammed you was the True-Immortal Layman—why are you blaming him?"
Queenie was furious; she found their words completely infuriating.
"None of you have any sense."
Yvette Locke frowned beside her; if Grandmaster You weren't blocking her, she'd have rushed in to fight the mob herself.
"But he's the one who got all the benefits!"
"He knew it was a trap and didn't warn us? That's so shady!"
The mob kept shouting.
The crowd was in a frenzy.
Seeing this scene, Evan Lin couldn't be bothered to say another word. He casually waved his hand, sending a blast of inner force toward the crowd.
Smack smack smack smack smack!
One slap after another rang out.
Everyone who'd just spoken, without exception, was struck by palm-shaped blasts of inner force, sent flying and sprawling across the ground.
In an instant, the whole mob was knocked down.
"I've got a question for you."
Evan Lin didn't even look at the crowd he'd just slapped to the ground.
Even though they all glared at Evan with resentment, now—whether Vajra or Pointing-to-Mystery Realm—their inner force was gone, leaving them totally powerless, just a bunch of nobodies.
Evan Lin's gaze landed on the battered True-Immortal Layman.
"I've got nothing to say to you."
The True-Immortal Layman coughed, badly wounded. He glared at Evan Lin, but inside, he was deeply shaken.
The Spirit-Test Beads were his own creation, a special artifact designed to absorb other people's inner force.
Normally, after the inner force entered the Spirit-Test Beads, he'd need time to absorb and convert it for himself—but this kid just refined all of it in an instant!
It was utterly unbelievable.
Now the Spirit-Test Beads were shattered. The True-Immortal Layman hated Evan Lin, but all he wanted was to escape as quickly as possible.
"Remember this—I'll pay you back for today's humiliation!"
The True-Immortal Layman spat out his threat, turned, and leaped to flee.
But just as he turned—
His body suddenly froze.
He realized that, somehow, a dozen palm-shaped blasts of inner force had appeared behind him.
Each one was a slap.
"Trying to run before I've even questioned you?"
Evan Lin shook his head.
The moment his words fell—
All the palm-shaped blasts aimed straight at his face, whistling toward the True-Immortal Layman.
"Aaaahhh!"
A chorus of screams rang out.
Everyone watched as the True-Immortal Layman was smacked around in midair like a ball, pummeled again and again.
He looked absolutely miserable.
His ugly, toad-like face was now battered into a bullfrog.
"I'm not running! I'm not running anymore!"
The True-Immortal Layman sprawled on the ground, wailing nonstop.
This scene made many onlookers freeze in fear, not daring to utter a word.
"When you arrived here, did you see a statue of a woman?"
Evan Lin looked at him and asked.
"I only arrived this morning. Before I came, a bunch of experts had already swept through the place. I didn't see any statue of a woman."
He answered quickly, terrified after the beating.
Actually, after Evan Lin and the others left last night, some people came to investigate.
They were all hidden-world experts. After finding nothing, each left one by one.
The True-Immortal Layman arrived late, and seeing people trickling in, decided to play the role of a fake immortal.
