Luna, the Sword Spirit, remained as hazy and indistinct as ever. Evan Chu was tempted to sneak another look at her stunning face, but remembering her warning that he'd regret it for life, he held himself back.
Luna glanced at Evan standing behind her, a faint smile curling her lips. She thought to herself, "At least you know how to behave. Otherwise, I'd have to torment you for sure. There's no way I'd reveal my true form to you right now. When you reach that realm, you can stare at me all you want—though by then, you might have so many women you won't even care about me."
If Evan could hear Luna's thoughts, he'd probably be jumping for joy, but right now he was just filled with curiosity and helplessness.
He was curious about how Luna would extract that youth's information—she seemed even more mysterious than himself. But he felt helpless too, since she'd already warned him about the consequences, and Evan couldn't afford to pay that price.
Then, Luna's hazy form radiated a white light. After a few seconds, she pressed her finger to the youth's forehead. The process lasted about a minute, and by the end, the glow around her had noticeably dimmed.
"Evan Chu, for your sake, I've burned away two layers of my soul force. If you don't find Soul Snow Grass soon, I'll make you pay." Luna's voice echoed weakly in Evan's mind, sounding drained and barely holding on.
Just as Evan was about to ask, Luna transformed into a tiny sword and instantly vanished into the center of his brow.
"Sister Luna, are you alright? You seem really uncomfortable right now," Evan asked with concern.
"Kill that brat first and then I'll tell you. I can't believe how filthy his mind is—I'm furious!" Luna snapped, clearly annoyed.
Evan didn't dare say another word. Luna was in a bad mood, and if he annoyed her, she'd make sure he suffered too. He summoned Frostbane, swung it lightly, and a razor-sharp sword aura flashed out—sending the youth off to join his fellow students on the road to the afterlife.
"Mission accomplished. Can you finally tell me what you found out about him?" Evan Chu asked cautiously, afraid Luna might snap.
"That brat's mind was full of filthy thoughts. He kept fantasizing about your Lily Tang and Rhea Yang—even imagining them serving him together! Isn't that infuriating?"
"Not really. With looks like Rhea and Lily's, any man would have ideas. Honestly, it makes me kind of proud," Evan said with a laugh.
"Are you crazy? What's there to be proud of? Are you even a man? Your own women get treated like that in someone else's mind and you act like it's nothing. I honestly don't know what to say to you," Luna replied, exasperated.
"You don't get it? I was being sarcastic. No way I'd let anyone touch my women—I'm the only man allowed. Anyone else, I won't tolerate." Evan said, then swung his sword a few more times at the already-dead student, clearly still upset.
"Heh, I thought you didn't care. But that kid's memories were useful. Your Roxanne hasn't run into them, so she's safe for now. But fifteen Honors Class students entered the ordinary-class interface—if I'm right, you've already killed seven, leaving eight still out there."
Evan felt relieved knowing Roxanne was safe—for now. But when he heard there were still eight enemies left, his worry returned. "Sister Luna, your spiritual sense is so strong. Can you find out where Roxanne is?"
"You think I'm all-powerful? This ordinary-class region spans hundreds of kilometers. In my current state, I can barely probe a ten-li radius. I can't do it—but that doesn't mean no one can." Luna huffed, a little annoyed at Evan's expectations.
"Who? Who could possibly have a spiritual sense stronger than yours?" Evan asked eagerly, hope sparking in his eyes.
Right now, Roxanne's safety mattered more to Evan than anything. If something happened to her, he'd regret it for the rest of his life.
"Your flying Spirit Beast subordinate, of course. His spiritual sense isn't as strong as mine, but his speed in the air is unmatched. He could sweep this whole region several times in a single day."
Luna's words made Evan instantly realize—he knew firsthand just how fast an eighth-rank Spirit Beast could fly. As long as he described Roxanne's features clearly, finding her shouldn't be too hard.
"Thank you, Sister Luna. If you hadn't reminded me, I'd have forgotten about my powerful flying beast." Evan said, then pulled out the Soulfeather Plume Goldwing had given him from his storage ring.
He used Frostbane to slice his finger, letting blood drip onto the feather. Instantly, a massive six-pointed star appeared before him.
This was the third time Evan had seen the six-pointed star—the first was when Luna appeared, the second when Shadow the Bloodshadow Lion was summoned, and now, Goldwing. It felt almost unbelievable.
The hexagram shimmered before Evan, and after a few heartbeats, a piercing bird cry erupted from within. A massive bird, as large as an eagle, burst out of the star, looking utterly magical.
Evan recognized Goldwing's transformed body right away. Then, with a flash of dazzling gold light, a middle-aged man appeared before him.
"Boss, reporting in. What urgent business do you have for me?" Goldwing—now in his middle-aged human form—asked respectfully.
"Old Gold, I really do need your help. You're the fastest here—please search the entire ordinary-class region for someone. If you find her, just tell her I sent you, and she'll follow you back." Evan was amazed by Goldwing's speed, proof of how extraordinary the Soulfeather Plume was.
Evan then carefully described Roxanne Lin's appearance to Goldwing. Hearing Evan's instructions, Goldwing couldn't help but feel a bit speechless.
"Boss, Soulfeather Plumes are incredibly rare. I've only refined three so far—don't use them lightly, unless it's a life-or-death emergency. Got it?" Goldwing said, handing Evan another Soulfeather Plume as a spare.
"Old Gold, I wouldn't use it unless it was urgent. Roxanne Lin is my fiancée—her safety matters more than my own life. You know how much this means to me. I promise, unless it's truly serious, I won't use them recklessly." Evan said honestly. He'd give up anything for Roxanne's safety—even his own life.
"Understood, Boss. I'll bring Sister-in-law back as soon as I can!" Goldwing replied, then transformed back into his beast form and vanished into the sky.
