After Evan Lin left seclusion, Dominic Ding arrived with four Elders to pay their respects.
Originally, these four Elders had their doubts about Evan Lin, thinking he didn’t win by true strength. But the giant sword Evan Lin just manifested completely convinced them.
“Young Lord, I originally wanted to bring all the sect’s disciples here to pay respects, but I worried you might not want such a big scene, so I only brought the four Elders.”
“From now on, our Southriver Sword Sect will follow your lead.”
When Dominic Ding said this, his face was all smiles, without a trace of sorrow.
To him, the founding ancestor was already finished; if the Southriver Sword Sect wanted to survive, they needed a stronger backer.
Evan Lin before him was clearly beyond his imagination, so all this felt only natural.
“This is a sword art I just wrote, called the Myriad‑Phenomena Unity Sword. There are six forms in total—take it and have the disciples practice it.”
Evan Lin casually took out a few sheets of paper and handed them to Dominic Ding.
He’d just scribbled it down, but the Myriad‑Phenomena Unity Sword was actually something Evan Lin had created years ago in the Glazed Glass Palace’s pill room, out of boredom.
Compared to the basic Liuli Sword Art of the Glazed Glass Palace, it had more variations, was easier to learn, and much more powerful—perfect for the people in the Southriver Sword Sect.
“From now on, recruit disciples according to this sword art. Master one form to be a disciple, three forms to be a Sword Master, and four forms to be an Elder.”
Evan Lin explained simply.
Dominic Ding took the chance to glance at it. At first his face was blank, but soon he was ecstatic, as if he’d found a treasure.
No matter how he looked at it, this Myriad‑Phenomena Unity Sword was far more profound than the sect founder’s sword art, and even included some qi‑refining methods—Dominic Ding and the Elders were genuinely thrilled.
Evan Lin rested one more day on Heavenly Sword Mountain, then descended the mountain the next morning.
As for people like Harvey He who’d originally come with Evan Lin, whether they stayed or left was none of Evan’s concern.
Coming down from Heavenly Sword Mountain, Evan Lin’s phone had long since run out of battery.
“It’s been days since I went to school again. Hope Mom doesn’t find out.”
Evan Lin slung his backpack and walked through the mountains, stretching lazily.
He didn’t rush to catch a ride, but just like when he’d come, he strolled slowly toward Capitalview, taking in the scenery and cool breeze along the way—way better than sitting in a classroom.
“Now in Capitalview, I’ve got the Miracle Hand Sect and Southriver Sword Sect as my cards, plus the Su family. Looking at the whole region, I’m basically the number‑one power here, right?”
Evan Lin laughed at himself.
Whether it’s Master Lin from Seacrest or Evan “Nine Mysteries” Lin in Capitalview, those titles have already become something people look up to.
“In the future, Miracle Hand Sect and Medicine King Valley will merge; Miracle Hand will focus on alchemy, Medicine King Valley on gathering herbs. When they can mass‑produce Spirit‑Gathering Pills, maybe I can use their power to help my own cultivation.”
“As for the Southriver Sword Sect, once they master the Myriad‑Phenomena Unity Sword, they won’t be so weak anymore. If trouble comes up, I can borrow some strength from them. But their most important job is still guarding that stone statue underground.”
Evan Lin walked along, thinking things over.
In his mind, he organized all the information about the forces at play.
Every move seemed casual, but in reality, he was planning carefully at every step.
Evan Lin, the Nine Mysteries Immortal Lord, might be unmatched, but even the strongest are just one person. If someone else can handle the troublesome stuff, it saves him a lot of time.
“Right now, I’ve got the Soul‑Sacrifice Beauty Scroll, the Scarlet Flame Command, and the Four‑Directions Sword Array. That’s pretty much everything I need—even if some old monster comes out of hiding, I might not win, but I can protect myself.”
Evan Lin sighed. Right now on Earth, it seemed like no one could challenge him—but who knows what strange people might pop up next.
Actually, Evan Lin was a little worried about one thing.
He’d entered the Immortal Martial Continent from Earth by accident, then somehow returned to his original timeline. So what if he wasn’t the only one to cross over from Earth?
Evan Lin didn’t dwell on it. After a quick thought, he put it out of his mind.
He walked for a long time before finally reaching Capitalview.
When Evan Lin got back to Capitalview, he went home first, took a shower, and changed clothes.
It was afternoon, so Stella Huang was still at work, and Irene Xu probably had a flight scheduled—she wasn’t home either.
While showering, Evan Lin plugged in his old Nokia to charge.
After about an hour, Evan Lin turned on his phone and glanced at it.
When Evan Lin saw over two hundred missed calls, he immediately felt a headache coming on.
Most of the calls were from Joy Zheng and Auntie Lu, but there were also a few from Summer Mu and Lynn Chen, plus one from Keaton Wang. The biggest surprise was seeing a missed call from Rachel Liu.
Ever since Evan Lin stunned everyone at the River City auction and defeated the city’s richest man, then transferred from Brightsea No. 2 High to Capitalview, he and Rachel Liu had barely kept in touch.
The last time Evan Lin saw Megan Liu, Rachel’s younger sister, was when she came to Capitalview with Keaton Wang.
Evan Lin didn’t bother with Rachel Liu’s number. He called Joy Zheng and Auntie Lu first, just to let them know he was safe.
On the other end, Joy Zheng sounded wistful, not scolding him but saying, “Little Yi, do you still remember your mom?”
Hearing that, Evan Lin could only smile bitterly. After a long round of promises and reassurance, Joy Zheng finally relaxed.
Evan Lin knew that behind Joy Zheng’s light words were many sleepless nights, all spent worrying about him. She held back from saying too much, afraid of making him feel pressured, so she only spoke lightly.
Now that Evan Lin was safe, she could finally relax; her tone turned cheerful.
Joy Zheng also told Evan about the poor students she was sponsoring. Her words were tinged with sadness, and Evan listened quietly. After she’d talked for a while, Evan expressed his full support for her charity work and even promised to tutor the students himself if he had time. Only then did Joy Zheng hang up, satisfied and happy.
Next, Evan Lin called Auntie Lu. She gave him plenty of advice, and also wasn’t pleased that he’d disappeared for several days without warning. It took him a while to calm her down before ending the call.
After those calls, Evan Lin tried calling Summer Mu, but no one answered. He put his phone away after one attempt.
“There are still a few things I need to take care of.”
Evan Lin lay back on his bed, mumbling to himself.
He hadn’t spent much time as a regular student, but he’d dealt with plenty of trouble.
Ordinary student Evan Lin, Master Lin of Seacrest, and Lin Jiuxuan of the Southriver Sword Sect—three identities, but it was the first that he enjoyed most.
“The ancient emperor deceived at Jingnan Mountain’s tomb, the wooden goddess worshipped by the old immortal at Zhaoyu Town, and the stone woman carved by the Southriver Sword Sect’s mason… Who are you really?”
Evan Lin wondered aloud.
