Frenzied Slaughter

Evan Chu deliberately retreated a hundred meters back, just to fully test the power of Heaven-Cleave in his current state. The strongest among this group was only at Fourth-Layer Saint Martial, so if he used Earthsplitter, it would be a one-hit-one-kill, but it would take time to finish everyone off. With Heaven-Cleave, he might wipe out more than half in a single swing.

The sword-light on the Frostbane Sword instantly surged to three meters, and then, with sword-qi fused from the five elements and lightning, slashed toward the spot where over a hundred people stood.

Immediately, the surrounding space trembled violently. An invisible giant sword of sword-qi appeared before the Ghost Clan crowd, and then something happened that Evan could hardly believe.

After this one sword strike, all of the hundred-plus Ghost Clan members in front of him were completely obliterated—no bones, no trace. The only thing left was a massive fissure, dozens of meters wide and stretching so far you couldn't see the end, nothing else at all.

If anything remained, it was the countless clouds of dust now filling the air. The power of a single sword was this terrifying—Evan was momentarily unable to accept it, not because the attack was too strong, but because all those wooden tokens were gone in an instant.

Seeing the result of this strike, Evan realized the power was on par with the Star-Cleave he once unleashed inside a spatial black hole. At this moment, even if a Ninth-Layer Saint Martial master stood before him, he could easily cut them down.

The attack power after his breakthrough was truly terrifying. If he wanted to collect tokens, he'd have to use weaker martial arts. Evan thought this with some frustration, then flashed into the air.

"Lin Feng, I never expected your Heaven-Cleave would be so powerful now. Truly something to celebrate! The higher your realm, the stronger your attacks. If you had Immortal Lord-level strength and used Heaven-Cleave here, you could destroy the entire Land of the Undead in an instant. Do you understand what I mean?" Luna laughed.

"You mean this martial art can be used even in your world, and it's actually a pretty good technique?" Evan asked.

"That's right. Don't underestimate the Seven-Sever Slash. I don't know why it appeared in the Frostbane Sword, but I can say for certain this is a truly heaven-defying martial art—one that defies the heavens to the extreme," Luna replied.

"Hehe, Big Brother, you're so awesome! You chopped them all up in one go! But weren't you here to grab those wooden tokens? How come you didn't get any?" Chu Qing chirped, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

Luna just gave a sly little smile and teased, "He wiped out those Ghost Clan guys so hard there's not even a bone left—how's he supposed to get the tokens now? Qing, don't rub it in! He's probably dying of frustration. You should help him scout out more Ghost Clan for next time!"

Evan Chu glared at Luna. That girl really knows how to poke where it hurts—she was definitely doing it on purpose just to mess with me.

Chu Qing giggled and shot Evan Chu a wink. "Big Brother, just be more careful next time! I'll help you check out what else is going on around here."

"My little sister really gets me! Not like certain people who just want to see me make a fool of myself—ah, my poor heart!" Evan Chu clutched his chest and pretended to collapse in agony.

Luna just smiled quietly and didn't say anything. Soon, Chu Qing piped up, "Three thousand li to the east, there's a bunch of people fighting a monster. Looks pretty fierce—several already got killed!"

Evan Chu grinned. "Let's go watch the show—this time, I'm not letting anyone laugh at me!"

With a flash, Evan Chu unleashed instant movement, grabbing the two girls as they vanished from sight. When they landed, sure enough, dozens of Ghost Clan cultivators were locked in a brutal brawl with a giant, lizard-like Netherbeast.

That lizard was a monster—at least several dozen meters long! Its tongue was the scariest thing, stretching three or four meters; every time it flicked out, it snatched up a Ghost Clan fighter and swallowed them whole.

And its massive tail—one sweep sent people flying, and when they hit the ground, they were dead on the spot. This Nether Lizard's aura was Eighth-Layer Saint Martial, and to it, the Ghost Clan were nothing but ants.

"Heh, you dare act up in front of Young Master? I'll slice that beast in one stroke and score myself a fine Phantasite. This time, I'm finally getting a real haul!" Evan Chu said, grinning with swagger.

He dropped straight to the ground, ghost-qi swirling around him—no way was he going to blow his cover now. If any Ghost Clan slipped away, he'd have a headache later in Grimchart City.

Evan Chu's sudden arrival made the Ghost Clan fighters jump—he'd just come flying down from the sky, and none of them could fly yet. Instantly, they pegged him as a top-tier expert.

One Ghost Clan cultivator hustled over and said, "Brother, that Nether Lizard is crazy strong—it's already killed a bunch of our guys. You look tough; how about helping us take it down?"

Evan Chu acted like he hadn't heard, then finally flashed a grin. "Sure, I can help—but I've got one condition: hand over all your wooden tokens."

The Ghost Clan fighter froze, then his face twisted with anger. "You've got a big mouth, huh? You want all our tokens? Since you're so clueless, we'll send you packing first—I bet you've got plenty on you too!"

"Of course, I've already got over a hundred wooden tokens on me. Whoever takes me down can advance straight away—but do you really have what it takes?" Evan Chu laughed, but out of the corner of his eye, he was sizing up the Nether Lizard.

His words hit like a thunderbolt—the Ghost Clan were stunned. They knew monsters in the Land of the Undead carried Phantasite, and with enough, you could fly. That's why they were risking their lives against the Nether Lizard. But this guy was claiming to have more than a hundred wooden tokens—any idiot knew what that meant.

People die for wealth, birds die for food—now every Ghost Clan member's eyes were red with greed. The one who spoke lunged at Evan Chu, slashing out with his sword, ready to kill him and snatch those tokens.

Evan Chu didn't even bother dodging. He slowly drew the Frostbane Sword, planning to wipe out these guys in a flash before dealing with the Nether Lizard.

The Ghost Clan's sword struck Evan Chu like it hit a steel wall—the rebound sent him flying several meters, leaving him stunned. In that instant, Evan's Frostbane Sword pierced straight through his body. The man died with terror and regret etched on his face.

The rest of the Ghost Clan instantly turned their attacks on Evan Chu, ignoring the Nether Lizard. If they could get his tokens, that'd be the biggest prize of all.

Evan Chu looked at their greedy faces and felt sick. He kept spamming Shifting Position and unleashed Tyrant Cleave again and again. If he used Earthsplitter, these Ghost Clan would be dust like before—so he stuck with Tyrant Cleave, his weakest form. Even so, none of them could withstand a single slash. In just a few breaths, every Ghost Clan fighter lay dead on the ground, cleanly slaughtered by Evan Chu.

And just then, the Nether Lizard, having lost all other targets, charged straight at Evan Chu...
