Words on the Wall

12/2/2025

As soon as she saw Morgan Shangguan, she blurted out, "Cloud Guildmaster, you said that if I kept my distance from Lord Ghostmaster for a while, he would finally notice me. But in the end, he still doesn't even spare me a glance! He's leaving tomorrow, and I don't even know when I'll get to see him again!" The displeasure in her eyes made it clear she thought Morgan was deceiving her.

Morgan Shangguan frowned slightly. She had been comfortably nestled in Damien Gray’s warm embrace, only to be pulled up and reproached by someone. She felt a bit displeased herself. But with her mask on, it was impossible to read her expression; even without it, her face would likely remain calm, as she always carried a faint smile in her eyes—showing no trace of anger or annoyance.

"Miss Violet Snow, if you want a man to notice you, you not only need the right approach but also your own charm. As Cloud Guildmaster, I assure you, the method I taught you is flawless!"

Violet Snow frowned, seeming to ponder Morgan's words. Only when she finally understood did she realize she was facing a tightly closed door—Morgan Shangguan had already disappeared!

A hint of anger flashed in Violet Snow’s eyes. Was Morgan saying she had no charm?

It was a remark anyone could understand, but because Morgan Shangguan’s tone was so casual—more like chatting with a friend than criticizing—Violet Snow didn’t react right away!

Staring at the closed door, Violet Snow wanted nothing more than to kick it open and rush in to confront Morgan Shangguan. But mindful of Morgan’s status, she restrained herself, merely snorting coldly before turning to leave.

Damien Gray pulled Morgan Shangguan into his embrace and asked, "Since you don’t like her, why bother being so polite?"

Morgan Shangguan didn’t deny her dislike for Violet Snow. Violet simply wasn’t her type, and with Violet’s obvious interest in Damien Gray, most women would have already shown their displeasure. So, Morgan was actually being quite courteous to her!

Morgan Shangguan wrapped her arms around his waist and said, "Have you noticed that Violet Snow seems a bit different from before?"

Hearing this, Damien Gray frowned. He disliked women who clung to him, and Violet Snow was no exception, so he hadn’t paid her much attention. Thinking back, she did seem different, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on what had changed.

Morgan Shangguan smiled and kissed his lips, "So Lord Ghostmaster did sense it!" Only someone as perceptive as Damien Gray would have noticed.

Damien Gray shook his head and sighed, "But I still can't say exactly what's different about her."

Morgan Shangguan prompted, "Think about Quentin Hua."

Damien Gray frowned, "You mean..."

Morgan Shangguan nodded. It was that aura that didn’t belong to them.

Violet Snow hadn’t had it before, but this time she carried the same aura as Quentin Hua. It seemed that Violet Snow—or perhaps all of Rakshasa Palace—was now under someone’s control. No wonder Rakshasa Palace had gone so long without choosing a master, yet someone was making decisions behind the scenes!

Damien Gray sighed, "I was too careless!" In the past, he would have noticed something was off, but now, even knowing Rakshasa Palace’s situation was strange, he hadn’t sent anyone to investigate. All his attention had been on Morgan Shangguan, which was indeed risky.

He didn’t want his own negligence to bring harm to Morgan Shangguan. It was time to get serious.

Morgan Shangguan gently pinched his chin, her faint smile teasing, "Is Lord Ghostmaster reflecting on himself?" Though her gesture was playful, her soft smile only brought comfort.

Damien Gray held her tightly and said softly, "Sleep now. We have a long journey ahead tomorrow."

Morgan Shangguan smiled and closed her eyes. Damien Gray was truly wise—he never blamed others for his own mistakes, nor did he fault her for distracting him. He wouldn’t wallow in regret over a moment’s misjudgment, but would always think of ways to solve the problem.

In short, this incident didn’t affect Damien Gray much—it only made him a bit more vigilant.

The next day, more people departed—including Morgan Shangguan and Damien Gray. Few remained in Snowvale; those who stayed wanted to search the false treasure site one last time, hoping to find some clue.

"Father..."

"Yuna, what is it?"

Yuna Ye looked at her father, Shuyang Ye, hesitating to speak. Then she couldn’t help glancing at Ethan Gu. Seeing this, Shuyang Ye understood what she was thinking. Yuna’s feelings for Ethan Gu were obvious to everyone. He had thought it over—if Yuna truly liked Ethan and Ethan liked her back, he wouldn’t stand in their way. Though good and evil should not mix, his daughter’s happiness mattered most; at worst, he’d retire from the martial world.

Maxwell Jing noticed Yuna Ye’s lovestruck gaze at Ethan Gu and raised an eyebrow. Right now, he had no intention of matchmaking the two!

He glanced at Ethan Gu, signaling him to handle things himself, then swung onto his horse, ready to set out.

A faint, fleeting smile appeared on Ethan Gu’s lips as he walked toward Yuna Ye. Yuna’s eyes lit up, just as she was about to speak, Ethan suddenly said, "I already have someone I love!"

"Cough, cough..." Maxwell Jing was caught off guard and started coughing; his horse, disturbed by the commotion, pawed the ground uneasily.

Maxwell Jing couldn’t help but glance at Ethan Gu, shaking his head. After all this time, how had Ethan still not learned to be gentle with women? Hopeless!

Inside the carriage, Morgan Shangguan lay in Damien Gray’s arms, laughing softly as she teased, "Is it true that everyone around Lord Ghostmaster doesn’t know how to cherish women?"

As for why they were sharing a carriage again—it was simply because Morgan Shangguan didn’t have one! And as for why the ever-hospitable Quentin Huang hadn’t arranged one for her, she owed that to Maxwell Jing!

Damien Gray raised an eyebrow and said, "I don’t know what Ethan was like before. When I brought him and his companion back to the Ghost Guild, they were both badly injured. After Ethan recovered, he couldn’t remember his past, so his lack of gentleness with women isn’t necessarily my fault! Besides, Cloud Guildmaster knows best—this Ghostmaster is very good at cherishing women!"
