Kill One First

12/19/2025

"Ah..." This time, not only was Voidbreaker stunned, but even Harold Yu was left speechless. He himself was locked up, so why was Voidbreaker also being restrained? It wasn't just him—everyone in the plaza was bewildered. This had never happened before. According to the rules of the Grandway Abyss, once it was confirmed that someone was wronged, those bound in the plaza would be released. But today, someone stepped forward to speak for Voidbreaker, and that person was also locked up—locked up for ten times longer, while Voidbreaker remained captive. This was completely unprecedented.

The rules of the Grandway Abyss had always held true—until now.

"I'm sorry, Dao Lord Di, this is as far as I can go." Harold Yu, pinned in place, sighed. He himself had been locked up for a hundred thousand years—how could he help any further?

"Brother Joe, don't be rash." Voidbreaker's voice reached Joe Di just in time. There were too many Third Step experts here—even as strong as Joe Di was, he was still only one person.

Joe Di did not reply. He was frantically constructing array flags of law. In fact, he had already built countless law array flags on this plaza, but now that he was about to make a move against these people, he had to keep building more.

Even if Voidbreaker hadn't spoken, Joe Di wouldn't have acted yet. The way things were being handled here had already shown him that this matter could not end peacefully.

Back in the Lost Dao Domain, he had slain hundreds of Prime Dao cultivators. Today, if he had to kill dozens of Third Step experts, so be it.

Joe Di's plan was to act only after setting up a complete trapping and killing array. But the other side clearly wouldn't give him such an opportunity. He had just carved out over a hundred array flags when four figures landed around him, completely blocking his escape routes.

With a calm expression, Joe Di used the law array flags to construct a chained trapping and killing divine array. He looked at the four cultivators before him and asked, "What is the meaning of this, gentlemen? Have I somehow violated the rules of the Grandway Abyss?"

Joe Di hadn't seen any of the four before, but he was certain they were all genuine Third Step cultivators. The two male cultivators standing in front of him were both tall and slender—one in white, one in black—appearing almost like Black and White Impermanence.

The two standing behind Joe Di—one was extremely obese, while the other was easily the most handsome of the four, with flowing long hair and a long spear slung across his back.

Today’s battle would be the true test of his combat strength. When the fighting began, he had to eliminate one of the Third Step cultivators immediately—before the others could react. Otherwise, the number of experts besieging him would only increase.

As long as he was trapped and lost the upper hand, even those who had no intention of joining the siege would eventually come after him. For survival in the Grandway Abyss, one had to follow the will of its rulers.

The tall, white-robed cultivator standing before Joe Di spoke expressionlessly, "First, you used an innate artifact as a pretense to deceive the Grandway Exchange Hall. Second, you openly attacked in the Grandway Plaza and gravely wounded Eugene Yi..."

Joe Di sighed inwardly. As expected, when they wanted to take him down, they could spout any shameless accusation.

"Are you planning to lock me here for repentance?" Joe Di had already decided: he would kill the black-robed Third Step cultivator to his right first.

"That's right. We won't act now, just prevent you from leaving..." The white-robed cultivator only got halfway through his sentence before suddenly transmitting a message to the other three: "Attack and kill him."

The four had long been in sync. While keeping Joe Di contained, they simultaneously launched their attack. This was the will of the Holy Master. With someone like Joe Di, there was no reasoning or rules to follow—just ambush and strike. According to the Holy Master, Joe Di was cunning and treacherous, never to be treated as an ordinary lucky cultivator.

What the four did not expect was that, almost the instant the white-robed cultivator gave the order, Joe Di had already made his move.

Joe Di’s strangling array activated in a flash, unleashing at least several thousand high-grade and supreme blades. Although he had already chosen his target—the black-robed Third Step—the first slash of his Azure Veil Blade still went straight for the white-robed Third Step.

Even with the law trapping and killing grand array activated, Joe Di was certain the four would use their divine senses to lock onto his Azure Veil Blade. As soon as his blade struck the white-robed Third Step, the others would converge around that cultivator to fight him together. That moment would be his chance to kill the black-robed Third Step.

"He laid down a trapping and killing divine array long ago..." the obese cultivator roared, swinging a massive iron hammer at Joe Di.

At that moment, the trapping and killing divine array constructed by Joe Di's law array flags erupted with countless strangling blades of law. The giant hammer smashed into the blades, setting off a series of ear-splitting explosions in the void.

The fight lasted only an instant—Joe Di attacked, and the other four followed suit. Simultaneously, the space where all five fought was completely shrouded by Joe Di's law array flags. Outside cultivators could only sense wave after wave of terrifying killing intent and continuous spatial ruptures.

At this moment, no one would be foolish enough to probe Joe Di's trapping and killing divine array with their divine sense.

Since Joe Di had managed to secretly set up a trapping and killing divine array here, he was clearly no ordinary opponent. In fact, when he struck Eugene Yi with a single slash before, everyone knew he was not to be underestimated. Until the outcome was decided, no one would risk probing the battle with their divine sense. Doing so would offend Joe Di as well as the other four Third Step experts. Worse, it could bring disaster—drawing attacks from the trapping and killing divine array.

For Joe Di, even if someone tried to penetrate his trapping and killing divine array with their divine sense, he would not be fazed. If a divine array built from law array flags could be so easily infiltrated, it wouldn’t be worth using as his trump card.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!" In that fleeting instant, several artifacts struck at Joe Di's Azure Veil Blade simultaneously. The killing force of his blade path was completely locked down by the Third Step cultivators, unable to erupt at all.

Although Joe Di's trapping and killing divine array could briefly disrupt the coordination among the four Third Step experts, it could not completely sever their mutual sense of connection.

The killing force of the Azure Veil Blade was struck by all four, and Joe Di spat a jet of blood on the spot. He had no intention of withdrawing his blade; instead, he controlled thousands of blade artifacts to bombard the black-robed cultivator, and at the same time, his Creation Brush was unleashed.

With a sweeping motion in the void, Joe Di wrote the massive character 'Realm' (界). The instant it appeared, it materialized and locked the black-robed cultivator completely within its domain.

One word shatters ten thousand Daos; the Realm divides Yin and Yang!

The white-robed cultivator also reacted, roaring, "His blade force could never be suppressed so easily—he has another trick!"

Before the white-robed cultivator finished speaking, the others—himself included—realized that Joe Di's target from the start had never been the white-robed Third Step, but the black-robed Third Step cultivator.

By the time the three reacted, the thousands of blade artifacts had formed a Ninth-Rank Guardian Array, and the Realmshatter Array crashed down on the black-robed cultivator.

"His target is..." The black-robed Third Step never finished his sentence; thousands of blades tore his domain to shreds.

Even with the 'Realm' character written by Joe Di's Creation Brush locking him in place, the black-robed cultivator still managed to reach the edge of the domain, his artifact poised to rip through Joe Di's boundary.

Almost as the black-robed cultivator reached the boundary of Joe Di's Realm character, Joe Di sensed a terrifying killing intent blasting toward his back.

Countless law array flags instantly formed a defensive shield behind Joe Di. With only a slight shift of his body, he kicked out—a divine technique, the Great Footprint.

Just as the black-robed cultivator was about to tear through the boundary, Joe Di’s kick sent him flying back, his organs twisting as if they were about to explode. But that was secondary; within Joe Di’s Realmshatter Blade Array, his body turned to blood mist and fragments. Even as a Third Step, he had no power to resist.

"Pfft!" At the same moment, Joe Di's law shield shattered, and the long spear pierced through his formidable body, unleashing a spray of blood.

(That’s all for today’s update. Good night, friends!)
