The Emperor of Westlyn!
How could he show up at the villa at a time like this?
It wasn’t just Serena— even Prince Nolan was surprised to learn that the Emperor of Westlyn had come in person to see Serena. Of course, Nolan rarely showed any expression, so no one else could tell.
Minister Chen stole a glance at Prince Nolan, itching to ask—did the Emperor of Westlyn find out Nolan was in the city yesterday, and come here on purpose to catch Eastlyn’s party in the act?
If that was really the case, Minister Chen felt incredibly lucky that Prince Nolan had arrived just in time. If he’d been even a little bit late, all of them would’ve been in serious trouble.
The two sides met in the flower hall. When the Emperor of Westlyn saw Prince Nolan walk in, his face twitched slightly, but the distance between them helped. By the time Nolan’s group approached, the Emperor had recovered, showing no sign of anything amiss. As for Nolan—no one could read a thing from his face, not a chance.
“Prince Regent.” The Emperor of Westlyn greeted him warmly. Nolan’s face was blank, but not hostile. “Your Majesty.”
King meets king—on the surface, both were calm, courteous, and polite, but underneath each had their own calculations. Minister Chen wiped sweat nervously; everyone else, including Westlyn’s Tianyu, didn’t dare say a word.
The two traded hidden blows behind the scenes, but outwardly everything was peaceful and friendly. Nolan probed the Emperor’s intentions, and the Emperor was upfront—he said he’d come to see Serena.
He’d heard Serena was attacked last night and gravely wounded, and was uneasy—so he’d come to offer his concern. Since he expected Nolan to visit today, he’d simply come a bit earlier.
