You Dare to Divorce Me

Lily Evans barely had time to process the hidden meaning in Marquis Weiyuan’s words when she heard a servant announce, "This bottle... was found in Madam Lou’s room..."

"What?!" Marquis Weiyuan erupted in fury, glaring at Madam Lou. "Explain yourself! What’s the story behind this medicine bottle?!"

Madam Lou was so anxious she could barely move her hands and feet. She rushed to say, "Marquis, I’m innocent! How could I possibly drug you? Someone must be trying to frame me!"

"We’ll see if you’re being framed soon enough!" Marquis Weiyuan snapped. "Everyone in the estate—gather them all! Interrogate them one by one! I refuse to believe we can’t get to the bottom of this medicine!" He was determined to get to the truth and immediately ordered the household to be questioned.

Among the servants, many were actually informants left behind by Xiao Zetian, and Madam Lou’s actions hadn’t been flawless. After months of drugging, someone was bound to have witnessed something.

So with the interrogations underway, the holes in Madam Lou’s story quickly began to multiply.

Marquis Weiyuan listened, his eyes full of rage.

It turned out Madam Lou had been slipping the medicine into the meals of the two concubines every day, knowing full well Marquis Weiyuan dined with them and would end up consuming the drug himself!

When the two concubines heard this, they broke down in tears and knelt. "Marquis, you were poisoned in our courtyards. If you hadn’t been so perceptive, we sisters would’ve been scapegoats!"

With beautiful women sobbing at his side and having just learned the devastating news that he could no longer father children, Marquis Weiyuan’s fury erupted like a volcano. He pointed at Madam Lou and roared, "You venomous woman! I haven’t treated you poorly all these years, and yet you repay kindness with cruelty—how could you do this to me?!"

Suddenly, Madam Lou lunged forward, grabbing at Marquis Weiyuan’s robes in a frenzy. "Marquis, I swear I didn’t do it! I’m innocent! Those two vixens must be colluding to frame me!" she wailed, collapsing to her knees, her whole body trembling with fear.

"Colluding to harm you?" Marquis Weiyuan retorted sharply. "They’ve only been here a few months and don’t have a single ally in the estate. How could they possibly bribe so many servants to help them frame you?" His eyes burned with fury and disappointment. "Madam Lou, I never imagined you’d go so far—just to secure your position, you drugged me so I couldn’t have children with anyone else! You’re truly wicked! I’m divorcing you, right here and now!"

"You want to divorce me?!" Madam Lou was stunned, unable to believe that after more than twenty years of marriage, Marquis Weiyuan would actually cast her aside.

Lucy Lou burst into tears. "Uncle, please don’t act rashly! You can’t divorce Aunt!"

Marquis Weiyuan struggled to keep his anger in check. "Someone, take Miss Lou away!"

"Yes, sir!"

Lucy Lou was led away in tears by several maids, while Madam Lou was left completely dumbfounded by how quickly things had spiraled out of control.

"I’ll write the divorce letter myself! Get out—now!" Marquis Weiyuan thundered.

Madam Lou finally snapped, bursting into hysterics as she lunged at Marquis Weiyuan, clawing at his clothes, tears streaming down her face. "You can’t divorce me! I’ve lived in fear with you all these years, and now you want to cast me out? Over my dead body!"

Lily Evans never imagined that Madam Lou, usually the picture of poise and elegance, could be such a fierce fighter when it came to a brawl.

It was as if Madam Lou had nothing left to lose—she unleashed a furious barrage at Marquis Weiyuan, scratching his face, neck, and hands until they were covered in marks. The two wrestled and tumbled onto the bed, locked in a chaotic, unresolved struggle.

Madam Lou’s eyes blazed red as she hissed, "If you dare divorce me and leave me with no way out, I’ll expose that secret and drag you down with me!"
