Evan Xiao Is in Her Bowl

Grace nodded vigorously and launched into her complaint: "The day you sent me to the Stable House, I ran into Sophie. She... you know, after she saw us together in the study room, she was fuming and tried to beat me up! Commander Gordon saved me! And this morning, Sophie came hunting for me again, but he had Aiden and Leon guarding me—"

"No more cooking for him!" Evan Xiao cut her off, face stormy.

"Huh?" Grace was a little dumbfounded. "Why?"

Where exactly is his main concern here?

"Everything in this General's Manor belongs to me!" Evan Xiao towered over her, squinting playfully. "The veggies, pots, spatulas, oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar—mine! Using my stuff to win people over? Don't you think that's a bit much?"

Grace blinked her big eyes. Why did Evan Xiao's argument actually make sense to her?

"If you dare use my things to give gifts again, I'll exile you too!"

Grace's eyes suddenly widened: "!"

After Evan Xiao finished speaking, he left without looking back.

Grace stared at his retreating figure, feeling like a flock of cawing crows was flying over her head...

......

That afternoon, Grace unexpectedly received word from Steward Qin, telling her to return to Frostmoon Quarters and resume her post as the head maid.

Grace was absolutely thrilled.

But at the same time, she found it strange. In the morning, he told her not to show up in front of him, and now suddenly she’s supposed to go back to Frostmoon Quarters?

So she asked Qin Zhong, “Steward Qin, why did the General suddenly want me back?”

Steward Qin replied mysteriously, “Honestly, when the General told you to leave, I had a feeling this day would come.”

“Oh? Can you tell fortunes now too?”

“Heh!” Steward Qin chuckled twice, leaned in, and whispered, “The General has never cared about any woman the way he cares about you. Go get him, girl!”

Grace froze for a moment, then smiled awkwardly.

Was she really that obvious?

How did even Steward Qin notice?

“And as for Miss Shishi, the General has ordered her to be confined,” Steward Qin said. “Until her wedding day.”

“Has her wedding date been set?” Grace asked.

“Yes. Two months from now.”

Upon hearing this, Grace felt like all the clouds over her head had vanished—clear skies and endless springtime!

Evan Xiao—he’s practically served up in her bowl!

Steward Qin saw her expression and laughed, “Go pack your things and head back to Frostmoon Quarters!”

“Alright! Thank you, Steward Qin!” Grace replied happily. “Oh, by the way, Steward Qin, there’s something I want to ask you.”

“What is it?”

“It’s about Anna,” Grace said. “Do you know anything about her family?”

Anna looks so timid and fragile, who would’ve thought she’d go so far to hurt her!

The way she pretended to lose her fragrant sachet was Oscar-worthy—who knew she had it in her!

She definitely needed to get to know Anna better.

She figured Steward Qin must know about her.

Anyone serving by the General’s side has to be thoroughly vetted, right?

Sure enough, Steward Qin nodded, “Her family’s situation is pretty ordinary. Both parents are alive. She used to have a younger brother, but he died of illness two years ago...”

......

Evan Xiao’s two maids were both seventeen or eighteen, and quite good-looking.

Lily was a big-eyed, round-faced girl—lively and cheerful.

Anna, on the other hand, had a delicate oval face, looking gentle and refined.

Who would’ve guessed that such a frail-looking girl could be so calculating?

And who knows what kind of perks Cecilia Chen gave her to make her risk everything just to hurt Grace?
