Each Serves Their Own Master

1/4/2026

It was the first time Wendy met the two young masters of the Yin family.

At that very moment, all of Wendy's motherly instincts decided to take a break.

Ahhh, these two boys are so handsome, it's almost criminal!

Ahhh, I just want to give them everything beautiful in the world!

Is there anything on today's lunch menu that's suitable for kids?

No?

I'll make it right away!

Wendy immediately turned and went into the kitchen, clanging away as she whipped up a bunch of desserts, then carefully placed them in front of Ethan Yin and Miles Gu.

Then she stared at them eagerly, hoping they would like it.

"This is Aunt Wendy," Cecilia Gu introduced to Ethan Yin and Miles Gu.

"Thank you, Aunt Wendy." Ethan Yin and Miles Gu, being the polite little ones they are, immediately thanked Wendy: "The desserts are delicious, thank you!"

Ahhh, hearing thanks from the little princes made Wendy so happy she almost wanted to do a victory spin!

How can there be such cute, adorable, and handsome little princes in the world?!

They're so cute it's almost a crime!

Wendy's face flushed with excitement. "No, no need to thank me, it's my pleasure!"

After that, Wendy awkwardly walked away, moving her hands and feet at the same time.

Charles Yin looked at Cecilia Gu, smiling, feeling a joy he couldn't quite describe. "Satisfied with this assistant?"

"She's wonderful," Cecilia answered instinctively. "All three girls are great—young, energetic, and driven. They're so lively."

Charles Yin's long, narrow eyes lifted slightly, his handsome face full of charm. "Is that so? What about me?"

Cecilia's face turned red. "That's not the same thing."

Ethan Yin immediately piped up, "Daddy is handsome, Mommy is beautiful, that's why we're a family."

Cecilia Gu poured a glass of fresh milk for Ethan Yin. "I'm not your mommy..."

Ethan Yin pouted.

Mommy never remembers anything from the past. What should I do?

So frustrating!

Charles Yin's eyes flickered as he spoke, "The house is being renovated lately, and some of the furniture gives off unpleasant smells. I was wondering if you could take care of the two kids for a few days?"

And maybe take care of me too?

Cecilia Gu hesitated for a moment, but her heart ached for the kids, so she nodded. "Alright."

"Thank you in advance," Charles Yin said, picking up a napkin and elegantly dabbing his mouth. "I'm full now, thank you for hosting us today. Oh, by the way, could you save a room for me too? As a responsible father, I hope to see my kids every night."

Cecilia Gu hesitated, then nodded. "Okay, if you don't mind how small this place is."

"Why would I?" Charles Yin replied with a satisfied smile, then turned and left the villa.

Alex opened the car door for Charles Yin. Before getting in, Charles said, "You don't have to come to the office with me today. Try to speed things up here."

Alex immediately bowed his head, "Yes, sir."

Watching Charles Yin leave, Alex only glanced down for a moment before turning to chat with Wendy. "I have a task for you now."

Wendy was busy wiping down the kitchenware. "Huh?"

"Madam still hasn't regained her memory. The original plan was to take it slow, but now things have changed. We need to switch up the order. Try to arrange more interactions between the boss and Madam—" Alex was interrupted by Wendy before he could finish.

"Wait a minute," Wendy said softly, her eyes lowered but every word clear. "I remember you once told me, when I was assigned to Miss Yun, my only responsibility was Miss Yun."

Wendy slowly raised her head and looked at Alex, her eyes more determined and clear than ever. "So, I'm sorry. I'll only listen to Miss Yun's instructions. I can't cooperate with you on this."

Alex: "..."

Is this what they call shooting yourself in the foot?

Guess this is it, huh?

"Don't forget, it's the Yin Group that pays your salary," Alex reminded Wendy.

"I know," Wendy replied, still looking steadily at Alex. "I've always followed the employee rules and haven't broken any company policies. If the company withholds my pay because of this, I'll just have to appeal to Miss Yun."

After she finished, Wendy washed and put away the rag, then said to Alex, "Everyone serves their own master. You work for the boss, I work for Miss Yun. So, I can't help you."

Wendy turned and left the kitchen.

Alex was stunned for a moment, then chuckled. "Interesting."

She's the first assistant who's ever dared to defy him.

Alex pushed up the imaginary glasses on his nose, his usually hidden sharp gaze sweeping over Wendy's back like something tangible.

Feeling his stare, Wendy instinctively stiffened for a moment, then strode out quickly.

As the chief special assistant to the CEO of the Yin Group, there's no way he'd be a pushover.

He just always hides his true colors behind a warm, gentle smile.

Alex pinched the bridge of his nose again and laughed silently.

In the afternoon, Ethan Yin and Miles Gu went down for their nap.

Wendy kept Cecilia Gu company while she read.

Wendy really was the most attentive of the three assistants.

She quickly noticed that Cecilia Gu loved tea and disliked soda, so the house was stocked with beautiful little tea canisters instead of carbonated drinks. Each canister was decorated with handmade lace trim.

That way, you could tell from a distance which canister held which kind of tea.

Even Cecilia Gu, who was reading, was drawn to Wendy's handiwork. She couldn't help but pick up a canister for a closer look. On each lace trim, different colors were used to embroider the type of tea inside.

"Did you make this?" Cecilia Gu asked curiously.

"I hope you don't mind," Wendy replied, her eyes sparkling at Cecilia Gu. "I noticed you love tea, but the canisters all look similar, so it's easy to grab the wrong one. That's why I found these little jars and made different labels for each, so you can tell them apart instantly."

"You're so talented—being my assistant is such a waste of your skills," Cecilia Gu couldn't help but marvel. "I've read lots of books about embroidery, but I've barely tried it myself. Here, look, can you do this pattern?"

Cecilia Gu got interested too and found a book with illustrations of a nearly lost stitching technique, handing it to Wendy.

Wendy studied it for a long time before saying hesitantly, "It's definitely complicated, but not impossible. Should I give it a try for you?"

"Sure!" Cecilia Gu was intrigued as well.

Wendy immediately put down what she was doing, grabbed her tools, sat in front of Cecilia Gu, and began stitching according to the book's illustrations.

In less than half an hour, a small hummingbird-and-flower embroidery appeared.

Wendy wasn't a professional embroiderer, so her technique was a bit rough, but she managed to faithfully replicate the stitches, leaving Cecilia Gu amazed. "Wow, did I just discover a hidden gem?"

Wendy grew even more shy. "I'm clumsy—I could only get this far. That technique is so complicated, it takes years of practice."

"No, no, you're already amazing!" Cecilia Gu became even more interested and asked Wendy to teach her the technique.

Wendy boldly taught, while Cecilia Gu learned. Before they knew it, over an hour had passed.

They only paused their lesson when Ethan Yin and Miles Gu woke up.

"Aunt Wendy, Mommy, what are you doing?" Ethan Yin and Miles Gu ran over in their adorable pajamas, poked their little heads in for a look, "Oh, is Mommy making clothes for us?"

Cecilia Gu laughed, "Your clothes are custom-made; my skills are nowhere near good enough for that!"

Miles Gu shook his head, "No, clothes made by Mommy are the best custom clothes. Kids with a mom are the luckiest."

A trace of sadness flashed in Miles Gu's red eyes, making Wendy's heart ache.

Wendy wished she could agree to the kids' request on Cecilia's behalf.

Cecilia Gu thought about how she didn't have much to do lately and she really liked these two kids, so she said, "Alright, if you don't mind waiting, I'll give it a try, okay?"

Miles Gu and Ethan Yin immediately hugged Cecilia Gu's neck and kissed her cheeks on both sides. "Mommy, you're the best!"

Wendy couldn't help but feel a little jealous watching them!

This is what a truly happy family looks like!

At dinner, Charles Yin didn't come home, and Dou Miao and Coco Shen were out running errands, so Wendy managed the kitchen staff and servants, preparing a simple but nutritious meal.

Cecilia Gu made sure the kids finished their dinner before she started eating herself.

"Mommy, now that you're back, are you staying for good?" Ethan Yin looked up at Cecilia Gu. "This is your home, Mommy."

Cecilia Gu's heart twisted for no reason. "Not necessarily."

Disappointment was clear in Ethan Yin and Miles Gu's eyes.

Cecilia Gu didn't know what to say.

She wanted to distance herself from Charles Yin, but it seemed impossible.

That man's presence was like poison—seeping into every corner, always making her anxious and unable to control herself.

Is she under some kind of spell?

Why does she think of him even when he's not here?

As she was lost in thought, Wendy brought up the last plate of fruit for dinner. "Miss Yun? Are you alright?"

Cecilia Gu snapped back to reality. "It's nothing."

After dinner, Cecilia Gu and Wendy played with Ethan Yin and Miles Gu until nine, then urged them to shower and rest.

Kids shouldn't stay up late.

After leaving the kids' room, Cecilia Gu was about to go rest herself when she saw Charles Yin come in from outside, looking a bit worn out.

"Sorry I'm late," Charles Yin said, tossing his coat to Alex and walking toward Cecilia Gu.

"Oh, it's fine," Cecilia Gu replied instinctively.

Charles Yin strode toward her, his presence almost overwhelming, making Cecilia instinctively take two steps back. "Charles Yin?"
