Chapter 1016: Madman
These shields formed an arc, redirecting the Inferno Fire that soared into the sky back toward the Mud Lizard.
In an instant, not only were the Mud Lizard's limbs ignited, but its entire body was engulfed by the Inferno Fire—flames so fierce they could set other fire ablaze, burning the Mud Lizard completely.
Large patches of mud were vaporized, turning into crumbling soil that fell away, layer after layer of its muddy armor burned away.
The extreme heat began to disrupt the Mud Lizard's magic—its mana fluctuations grew chaotic, its spellcasting weakened rapidly, and its counterattacks faded. All it could do was struggle and howl on the ground, powerless to extinguish the flames as wave after wave of mud rolled and burned.
Once the Mud Lizard was completely set ablaze, the fifty legion mages regrouped. Awkward incantations rang out again as all fifty chanted, each with a different spell.
This was a large-scale composite spell, relying on numbers to achieve a qualitative change—the strongest tactic most mage legions could master.
Ordinary mage legions didn’t have access to the formations Leon had personally adapted for group use, nor to the joint chanting arrays, let alone mass Blink techniques. The strongest method they could wield was large-scale composite spells.
With the strongest few acting as guides, everyone chanted long, complex incantations together, unleashing a single spell. This consumed far more mana than if a single powerhouse cast it alone.
As the mage legion chanted, high above, Reina—transformed into a frost dragon—plunged downward, a beam of icy blue light flashing from her mouth as she breathed it onto the Mud Lizard’s head.
In an instant, a three- to four-meter-wide pillar of icy blue light crashed down, enveloping the Mud Lizard’s head. The raging flames that had consumed its skull were instantly sealed beneath a layer of frost.
The temperature plummeted from scorching heat to frigid cold. The Mud Lizard’s spellcasting faltered as if someone had pressed pause—its mana fluctuations spiraled into chaos. Chunks of mud sloughed off its body, and the earth element it had gathered slipped out of control.
At that moment, the mage legion in the sky finished their incantations. A colossal golden-red spear, over twenty meters long and two meters thick, materialized above, descending with unstoppable force to pierce straight through the Mud Lizard’s neck, pinning it to the ground.
Blue blood sprayed from the Mud Lizard’s mouth. Its limbs went rigid, its tail gave a violent twitch, and then all movement ceased.
With the battle over, the mage legion landed nearby, showing no intention of joining further combat. Reina had only unleashed a single Zero Degree Dragon Breath and likewise withdrew from the fray.
The Mud Lizard fighting Lin Yun was in dire straits—its muddy armor shattered, a gaping wound three to four meters wide torn through its neck, as if the flesh had been gouged out by brute force. The pale bone beneath was clearly visible.
Lin Yun dismissed his Icefire Elemental Avatar, conjuring a Fourfold Burst Bomb before him and casually tossing it onto the wounded Mud Lizard’s neck.
Boom—
A mushroom cloud, over ten meters high, erupted. The violent explosion severed the Mud Lizard’s neck, leaving only a strip of skin and flesh clinging to the side. Death came instantly and utterly.
With this side’s battle swiftly resolved, one of the four Mud Lizards attacking the Henry Family split off. It had barely rushed a few dozen meters before Andefa and the Patchwork Alchemical Golem blocked its path.
“Come on, let your Grandpa Andefa send you off to meet your ancestors…”
Andefa shouted at the top of his lungs, unleashing a torrent of frost spells from the Wheel of All Magic, while the Patchwork Alchemical Golem let loose a surge of fire magic.
Rivers of flame and frost, each over ten meters wide, crashed into the Mud Lizard from both sides, swiftly sapping its strength.
Extreme fire and cold collided. Even without fusing, they weakened the Mud Lizard by nearly half.
Brutal magical suppression, with no finesse—just sheer numbers overwhelming the beast. The Mud Lizard was pinned down, unable to move, its mind blank from the extreme changes on both flanks.
Pinned by torrents of spells, the Mud Lizard could only flail its four claws in desperate struggle. Its massive tail thrashed wildly, but to no avail.
With Lin Yun’s strength rising, the Wheel of All Magic—bearing one of his core meditation laws—grew ever more potent. The raging spell torrents now rivaled a full-force barrage from a ninth-tier, violence-type Archmage.
Violence-type mages have always been looked down upon, yet no one denies their power. They shorten casting time, ramp up spell quantity, and when facing an enemy, unleash endless magical barrages—tearing foes apart with sheer force.
The Patchwork Alchemical Golem, rebuilt again and again, was growing stronger too. Like Andefa, it unleashed wild torrents of spells—perfect for subduing these heavily armored magical beasts. Pure spell power was enough to crush them.
Andefa and the Patchwork Alchemical Golem pinned the Mud Lizard down, using the fusion of ice and fire to steadily drain its power. At that moment, Hubert appeared before the beast.
A layer of green wind swirled around Hubert’s limbs and torso, while a yellow aura formed a halo that enveloped his weapon, Slaughter.
Hubert let out a savage grin, his eyes instantly turning blood-red. A crimson glow burst from his skin, and in a flash, his body seemed to inflate, bulking up even more. The veins on his arms bulged, and limbs already as thick as Lin Yun’s waist grew even larger.
With a single step, Hubert vanished from his spot like a gust of wind, reappearing atop the Mud Lizard’s head.
“Watch as your Grandpa Hubert unleashes his signature Frenzied Combo!”
With a furious roar, Hubert gripped Slaughter in both hands and spun his body like a horizontal whirlwind.
The wind granted Hubert agility, letting him channel his strength to the fullest. Unlike before, when raw power limited him to seventy or eighty percent, now every strike landed with full force.
The super-heavy spell layered onto Slaughter sent its weight soaring, amplifying its destructive power even further.
Bloodlust magic sped up every aspect of Hubert’s movements—his dodges, his swings, even his eyes tracking the fight. Everything was faster…
As Hubert spun, Slaughter smashed into the Mud Lizard’s skull. In less than a blink, he struck the same spot a second time.
The terrifying force wrapped around Slaughter whipped up a gale, and the Mud Lizard’s ice and fire magic couldn’t get close to Hubert at all.
In a single second, Hubert swung Slaughter seven times, and he was still spinning…
For three consecutive seconds, Hubert—transformed into a living whirlwind—hammered Slaughter onto the same spot on the Mud Lizard’s skull twenty-two times.
The Mud Lizard’s head was smashed to bits. A three- to four-meter patch of its skull was a bloody, sunken mess.
Truthfully, the beast had already been beaten to death by the seventeenth strike…
Hubert’s spinning body came to a stop. He crawled out of the Mud Lizard’s mangled skull, ignoring the stench of blood, and looked at Andefa with a smug grin.
“See that, Andefa? Grandpa Hubert’s Frenzied Combo can hit twenty-two times now. Shame this big guy couldn’t take it—dead before I finished all my strikes…”
Andefa turned away two of his faces, leaving one to look at Hubert with utter disdain.
“Idiot, you just got lucky this time. Last time, you only managed six hits before getting interrupted…”
The three Mud Lizards Lin Yun had lured over were dispatched in less than three minutes. Morgan and Arnold stared in shock, their eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.
Morgan was so stunned that he nearly got bitten by a Mud Lizard. His elemental shield was shredded on the spot, and if he hadn’t instantly raised his rune shield, he’d be dead already…
Damn, are these savage maniacs really Merlin’s subordinates?
He’s definitely lying to me. How do these guys look injured or drained of mana? If they weren’t hurt, could they even stand against Heaven-tier powerhouses?
And that Mafa Merlin—he actually fought a Mud Lizard solo, killed it in under three minutes, and didn’t even look like he was going all out.
What was that elemental avatar? Half ice, half fire—does that even exist? He’s just a titled Archmage, how could he possibly pull off an Icefire Elemental Avatar? Isn’t that only something a Heaven-tier expert who’s grasped the laws can do?
And that black orb—no mana fluctuations at all. What on earth is it?
Damn it, how can his subordinates be this strong? That mage legion—every one of them is just a low-tier titled Archmage, half of them mere mages, yet they’re stronger than I am. If I fought them head-on, I might not even stand a chance…
And that frost dragon—is that really a frost dragon?
No, that’s not a frost dragon. I know exactly what a frost dragon looks like. This one definitely has five-colored dragon blood, and its bloodline power is insanely strong…
And that terrifying orc—looks like a battle shaman, but way stronger than any I’ve seen. The pure power he wields exceeds even a Sword Saint. Not even an orc Sword Saint could match that…
And those ugly alchemical golems and the three-faced magical artifact avatars—each one is as strong as a ninth-tier, violence-type titled Archmage…
Damn, what kind of people are these? Where did Mafa Merlin find all these lunatics…
Watching his own battle, Morgan felt like he was just some soft Academy girl who’d never seen blood—his fighting style was downright feeble…
