Mutation Before the Divine Artifacts

2/27/2026

Evan Yang and Morgana Dreamhaven stayed alert to those few people along the way, but didn’t say anything—just acted as usual, as if nothing had happened. Soon, Evan led the group to their destination.

"We’re here," Evan Yang said, stopping in his tracks.

When everyone saw the scene before them, they were stunned. Lan Wind asked suspiciously, "Are you sure this is the place?"

"Yes. This is exactly where Lord Woodspirit indicated. Not a single mistake," Evan replied.

"How is that possible? These are all Chaos Stones! If you get hit, even an Immortal Sovereign body would be seriously injured." Seeing the dense cluster of stones drifting back and forth, it looked calm enough, but Evan knew from Morgana Dreamhaven that this was another natural phenomenon of the Chaos World: Chaos Stones. Each stone seemed light, but was billions of times heavier than a stone of the same size in the Immortal Realm. So, while they looked slow, getting hit by one was fatal.

"Lord Woodspirit never said there would be Chaos Stones here. He only said that the Three Gods’ Exclusive Artifacts could be found here," Evan replied.

"Evan Yang, are you sure this is the place? You didn’t go the wrong way?" Palace Lord Yuna didn’t think Lord Woodspirit would give the wrong location, but wondered if Evan had made a mistake, so she asked curiously.

Evan smiled. "Does Palace Lord Yuna think I’d deliberately pick the wrong place? Besides, I don’t even know what these stones are."

Seeing Evan’s startled expression earlier, everyone did believe he had no idea what these stones were.

"Alright. Since Lord Woodspirit said this is the place, we need to find a way inside and look for the Three Gods’ Artifacts," Morgana Dreamhaven said.

"Look, with so many Chaos Stones here, even if none fly by, it’d still take years to cross. Now that there are Chaos Stones drifting inside, who knows how many years it would take to fly through—and we don’t even know if the Three Gods’ Artifacts are really here," Lan Wind said, frowning.

"If you doubt me, I won’t force you. Whoever wants to follow, come with me. If not, just stay here," Evan Yang replied bluntly to Lan Wind.

Lan Wind and Lord Ridge frowned. If the artifacts really were here and Evan took them, it would be trouble. So they had no choice but to keep following Evan inside.

Palace Lord Yuna thought for a moment and said, "You’re the successor of both Ice-fire and Sacred Flame. That means if the God artifact inside is fire or ice attribute, you should be able to sense it. At least we won’t be wandering aimlessly—we’ll have a direction."

Evan Yang asked skeptically, "Will that really work?"

"Just ask Morgana Dreamhaven," Palace Lord Yuna replied.

Evan looked at Morgana Dreamhaven.

Morgana nodded, "That’s right. As a successor, you can sense the corresponding attribute God artifact. If any of the Three Gods’ Artifacts are related to water or fire, you’ll be able to sense them."

After Morgana Dreamhaven confirmed it, Evan said, "Alright, how do I sense them?"

"Close your eyes and channel your inherited attribute. You’ll be able to sense it," Morgana explained.

Following Morgana Dreamhaven’s instructions, Evan closed his eyes and began channeling his attributes. Palace Lord Yuna and the others waited nearby. If there were no Chaos Stones here, Lan Wind and his group would have already tried to make a move against Evan—but for now, they still needed him to lead the way, so everyone stayed silent.

Evan closed his eyes, circulated his ice attribute, but felt nothing. Then he tried fire, and sensed something in a certain direction. Originally, Evan intended to tell everyone right away, but curiosity made him try his other attributes as well.

After running through all his attributes, Evan realized what the Three Gods’ Artifacts were: fire, earth, and wind—three distinct types.

Evan kept outwardly calm and opened his eyes. As soon as he did, Lan Wind asked, "Well? Did you find anything?"

"Yeah, I sensed one—fire attribute," Evan replied.

"That’s great! If there’s a fire attribute artifact, the other two must be together as well." Lan Wind was ecstatic. Inside, he was even more thrilled—if it was fire attribute, it was perfect for him. With a fire attribute God artifact, his chances of advancing would rise dramatically. Even if he didn’t ascend to Godhood, he could use it as his exclusive treasure.

Hearing Lan Wind, Evan secretly thought, "The Three God artifacts are actually separated, each in a different direction."

Those who didn’t know assumed all three artifacts were together. Morgana Dreamhaven turned to Evan and said, "Lead the way. Just remember—not a single stone can be touched."

After hearing about how dangerous the stones were, Evan had no intention of testing their weight with his own body. He said, "If you’re not afraid to die, follow me."

With that, Evan led Morgana Dreamhaven and Palace Lord Yuna into the Chaos Stone field. Lan Wind and the others exchanged glances, then followed behind.

Once inside, everyone felt their ability to move drop sharply.

Their speed fell to only a few thousandths of normal, making the stones seem much faster. Everyone dodged the incoming stones with great caution.

At first, Evan thought it wouldn’t be too bad. But when Lan Wind was accidentally struck by a tiny stone, Evan was shocked—a stone the size of a fingertip pierced straight through Lan Wind’s right arm.

Lan Wind cursed his luck at how unlucky he was.

"Everyone be careful! Even the smallest stone here is deadly," Morgana Dreamhaven warned.

Everyone knew Morgana was right. If a single small stone could do that, who knew what the larger ones could do? They quieted down, focusing completely on dodging the stones, not daring to think about anything else.

Evan used his Ever-Changing Thousandfold Strikes divine sense to lock onto everything around him. Whenever a Chaos Stone entered his range, he calculated its trajectory and dodged it with his speed.

Evan kept leading the way, with everyone following behind.

As for Titus Skyflood and his group, they followed behind as well. Titus and Damon Darklord had absolute speed, so the stones weren’t a fatal threat to them—as long as they were careful, they could dodge. But the others weren’t so lucky; several had already suffered various injuries.

Titus Skyflood cursed this damned place in his heart, eager to find the God artifact and finally reach the peak.

Time passed bit by bit. After two years, Evan finally found the first God artifact—a fire attribute one. But it was sealed inside a massive Chaos Stone. No one could see how many artifacts were inside, so everyone assumed all three were inside that giant stone.

"You mean that stone?" Lan Wind asked excitedly, pointing at the Chaos Stone only five or six steps away.

"That’s right. I sensed it—it’s right there," Evan replied.

"Perfect! We’ll take this one. Palace Lord Yuna, Darkbane, help me restrain Evan and the others." Lan Wind, sure of the location, was now completely fired up, revealing his true intentions.

Palace Lord Yuna and Darkbane nodded, then turned to Evan, Morgana Dreamhaven, and Palace Lord Yuna.

"Palace Lord Yuna, what are you doing? And the rest of you?" Morgana Dreamhaven demanded angrily.

"It’s simple: we’re stopping you from getting the God artifacts. We want them all—and Evan, we want your life too," Lord Ridge said.

"So you’ve been planning this all along. But with such a huge Chaos Stone, how do you plan to open it?" Evan asked with a smile.

"That’s none of your business. First, we deal with you," Lan Wind said, glancing at the stone—unable to figure out how to open it, so he turned his attention back to Evan, snorting coldly.

"Palace Lord Ignace, do you still need to keep pretending? Or should I call you an Otherworld creature?" Evan said with a smile.

Lan Wind was shocked. "How did you know my identity?"

"I know more than just your identity. And Lord Ridge, you’re fake too. Earlier, you were called Darkbane, right? Both of you are Otherworld creatures. Getting in here must’ve been tough," Evan said with a smile.

"If you knew all along, why didn’t you expose us sooner?" Lan Wind asked, confused why Evan hadn’t spoken up back in the Wood Temple.

"Would it have helped? You could’ve just reverted to your true form and escaped. But here, it seems you can’t transform," Evan replied with a smile.

Lan Wind and Lord Ridge were horrified—they really couldn’t transform here. Palace Lord Yuna listened but didn’t interrupt, just kept watching.

"So you plan to name us here—and then fight us?" Lan Wind asked after thinking it over.

"Exactly. Let’s settle it here. The winner gets the God artifact; the losers will be smashed by the Chaos Stones," Evan said with a smile.

Lan Wind and Lord Ridge exchanged glances. With just their human bodies, they had no chance against Evan alone. Unable to use their true forms, they’d have to team up against Evan, then deal with the others.

But Morgana Dreamhaven and Palace Lord Yuna had no intention of standing aside—they’d already moved to stand by Evan.

After weighing things, Lan Wind said to Palace Lord Yuna, "Let’s join forces. There’s no other choice."

"I’ll only help you deal with Evan. The others are your problem," Palace Lord Yuna replied.

Lan Wind agreed, then said to Lord Ridge, "You distract the other two; Palace Lord Yuna and I will take on Evan."

Lord Ridge nodded. Palace Lord Yuna and Lan Wind lined up against Evan, while Morgana Dreamhaven and Palace Lord Yuna stayed close to Evan, forming a three-on-three standoff.

There was still one Wind Temple cultivator left, who hadn’t expected things to turn out this way. Morgana quickly told him, "They’re Otherworld creatures—join us to fight them."
