Evan Lin walked up to the second floor on his own, ignoring everyone else.
On the second floor, Sunny Zhou spotted Evan coming up and jerked his chin at him. "Hey kid, come here and fill up the glasses for everyone at the table."
There were three people at the table: Sunny Zhou and two women.
Those two women were the bar girls who had followed Sunny Zhou up from the first floor earlier.
"Little brother, why would you stick with Big Tank? Don’t you know SK Bar isn’t his turf anymore?" one of the women teased Evan, a playful smile in her eyes.
"You’d be better off following our Sunny. Sure, your clothes aren’t much and you probably come from a poor family, but if you stick with Sunny, you’ll at least get enough to eat," the other woman chimed in, looking at Evan with a touch of pity.
Evan said nothing. Sunny Zhou reached out and grabbed the chest of the woman in his arms. "Don’t say that. Forget Big Tank, but I don’t keep freeloaders around. Look at this kid—what use is he to me?"
"But if you spend a night with me and serve me well, maybe I’ll consider putting in a good word for the kid," Sunny added.
Sunny kissed the woman, making her squeal and giggle. "You’re so bad!" she complained.
Sunny laughed loudly, but then noticed Evan had picked up a bottle, poured himself a drink, pulled out a chair, and sat down—without any intention of pouring drinks for anyone else.
Sunny’s face darkened. "Who told you to sit down? I said pour drinks for the whole table! Are you blind or deaf? Didn’t you see our glasses are empty, or hear what I just said?"
"If you want to drink wine poured by Evan Nine Mysteries Lin, you’re not qualified," Evan said coolly, taking a sip and replying with ease.
"Evan Nine Mysteries? What kind of dumbass name is that? You think you’re living in a novel?" Sunny laughed out loud when he heard Evan’s words.
"Sunny, I think this kid’s got something wrong with his head," one of the women said.
"Yeah, who calls themselves Evan Nine Mysteries? That’s such a weird name," the other woman added.
As they spoke, the two bar girls pressed their bodies closer to Sunny Zhou, rubbing their chests against his wrist and making curvy shapes.
Besides selling drinks, their job in the bar was to keep guests company. Now that Sunny Zhou ran SK Bar, cozying up to him meant better deals when it came to guest assignments.
If they got in with a big-spending boss, they’d get priority and make more money.
That was the unspoken rule at SK Bar. Back when Big Tank was in charge, they’d suck it up and cozy up to him too, even if it made them sick.
Evan glanced at the two women, then looked calmly at Sunny Zhou. "I don’t care if you’re Sunny or Dog Sunny. This place belongs to Imperial Grand and is run by them. Big Tank was just trash who let you sneak in during the chaos, but now, you’ll have to leave."
"You want me to leave?" Sunny Zhou was momentarily stunned by Evan’s words.
Ever since he’d brought his crew in and single-handedly flattened Big Tank and all his men, SK Bar had been under Sunny’s control.
He hadn’t officially kicked Big Tank out, and with Imperial Grand busy redrawing turf, no one had come to clear the place out. Sunny felt like he could do whatever he wanted.
Now, hearing this kid talk big, Sunny just laughed. He looked at Evan and sneered, "Kid, do you even know who you’re talking to? Even your boss Big Tank would have to respectfully call me Brother Sunny."
"Your boss is busy cleaning my office now. You dare talk big here? If you keep it up, I’ll drag you out of here sideways—and Big Tank won’t dare say a word!" Sunny’s words were full of warning.
He didn’t take Evan seriously, didn’t even think he was worth another look.
The only reason he’d called Evan up to pour drinks was because he found him annoying. Now, seeing how the kid refused to play along and kept running his mouth, Sunny was even more impatient.
He waved his hand. "Get up, pour drinks for everyone, then kneel and apologize. From now on, you follow me. If I tell you to eat shit, you can’t even drink pee—just do as you’re told. Otherwise, even if Big Tank tries to protect you, I’ll cripple you myself."
But after finishing, Sunny didn’t see the fear he expected on Evan’s face. Looking at Evan, he realized the kid didn’t care about his threats at all.
Sunny snorted coldly and glanced at the man sitting on the other side.
The man was tall and burly, with a fierce look. He immediately got the hint, cracked his knuckles, and grinned menacingly as he stepped toward Evan.
Guys like him got itchy if they didn’t get in a fight every few days. The way he looked at Evan was like sizing up a living punching bag.
"Summer, see that guy heading for your cheap friend? They call him Wild Dog—he’s my cousin’s top enforcer. Back in the day, he went toe-to-toe with five Imperial Grand security guards and held his own!" On the other side, Howard Zhou swirled his glass, smirking at the pale-faced Summer.
Just a punk, and he wants to compete with Howard Zhou for girls?
What do girls like most? Money? Howard wasn’t as rich as Summer, but he wasn’t poor. Looks? Howard was more mature and composed. Connections? Howard was way ahead of the more childish Summer.
Right now, Wild Dog was eyeing Evan like prey. From a distance, seeing their height difference, everyone couldn’t help but pity Evan.
It looked like Evan was about to get beaten badly.
"Summer, don’t make friends randomly. Lucky for us Wild Dog is Howard’s cousin’s man—if he wasn’t, we’d all be in trouble because of you," Renee Qiu said, needling Summer.
"Mind your own business! Who I make friends with is up to me!" Summer snapped, face flushed, unable to hold back anymore.
Howard Zhou sneered, "Ignorant. I’ll let it slide since I’m the bigger man."
"Summer, don’t get worked up. Howard’s got a point," someone else chimed in.
"Yeah, Summer, look at your friend—he’s about to get beat up! One kick and he’ll go flying off the second floor," a guy added, pointing across the room.
Summer’s heart pounded as he turned to look.
