Thousand-Year Ginseng
"Well, Mrs. Thompson, who gave you the right to speak here? Don't forget your servant deed is still in the old lady's hands! Take your son and get out!" Arthur Evans strode out with a cold face, driving Mrs. Thompson away.
Jill Evans clung to Arthur Evans's hand, hiding behind him, poking her head out curiously to watch Mrs. Thompson and Charlie Thompson.
As soon as Mrs. Thompson saw Jill Evans, she hopped and ran, shouting, "Evans, don't think I don't see through your scheme! You're afraid my Charlie will be adopted by Mrs. Wang, so you can't shove your daughter in there! You talk all righteous, but you're the most calculating of all!"
"You shameless thing! Someone, get them out of here!" Arthur Evans was furious at Mrs. Thompson's nonsense and ordered the servants to throw her and Charlie Thompson out.
"Second Mother, don't be upset." Jill Evans walked over and took Margaret Evans's hand.
Margaret Evans looked at the adorable Jill Evans, gently stroked her hair, and thought of how Lily was just as cute when she was little. Her heart ached with a sudden pang.
At the doorway, as Charlie Thompson was being driven out, he happened to see Margaret Evans stroking Jill Evans's hair. A flash of hatred flickered in his eyes.
Mrs. Thompson, finding the argument pointless, dragged Charlie Thompson home, muttering all the way about how Margaret Evans was ungrateful and Arthur Evans was cunning.
"I tell you, it's all that Evans's fault! Big city folks are full of tricks, probably trying to shove his own daughter in so she can inherit Lily's family fortune! If it weren't for him, Mrs. Wang would have surely taken Charlie as her son." Mrs. Thompson grumbled.
Charlie Thompson ground his teeth in frustration. His family was poor, while Lily's was rich—he'd been eyeing their fortune for ages. So when Mrs. Thompson suggested Mrs. Wang adopt him, he was thrilled, dreaming of being the young master of a wealthy house. Who could've guessed Evans would ruin his plans?
