As soon as Lily Zhong spotted Evan Lin and his crew coming her way, her eyes lit up. She didn’t hesitate—she strode right over, waving and calling out, “Evan, over here!”
Lynn Chen and her crew heard Evan’s voice and all whipped their heads around. Lynn shot him a glare, muttering under her breath, “Who does this guy think he is?”
At a glance, they saw a bunch of people led by some teenage guy walking over. Captain Wu sized them up, his lips curling into a sneer. He stepped forward, blocking their path, and said, “Hey, you—what’s your deal?”
Lynn Chen frowned, sizing up Evan from a distance. What really got under her skin was how the two girls beside him—Queenie Tong and Yvette Locke—were both drop-dead gorgeous, each prettier than the last. Lynn muttered, “Ugh, what’s he got that I don’t?”
Even though Lynn’s family was doing better these days and she’d learned how to dress up and do her makeup, standing next to those two, she still felt totally outclassed. That sense of inferiority hit hard. Captain Wu, meanwhile, snorted and said, “What’s wrong, feeling a little overshadowed?”
Queenie Tong was Serena Tong’s little sister, born with a killer face. But because she always hung out with Serena, everyone’s attention went to the superstar, making Queenie’s looks seem like they didn’t measure up. Evan shot Captain Wu a look and said, “You really think you’re the main character here?”
But now, with Queenie standing next to Lynn and those heavily made-up flight attendants, she was instantly in a whole different league. Captain Wu glanced between them, then scoffed, “Guess I’m not the only one getting outclassed today.”
Queenie wasn’t even on the same level as the others. With her aura on full blast, she sized up Lynn as she walked by, her gaze sharp and a little judgy. Captain Wu watched, thinking, “Damn, even I’d feel nervous facing her.”
Yvette Locke, on the other hand, was already at Pointing-to-Mystery Realm. Just her presence alone made everyone around her stop and stare. Captain Wu thought, “What the hell, is she some kind of martial arts boss?”
Grandmaster You and Ian You followed behind, step for step. They looked like attendants, but their aura was so strong, it made regular folks feel like total nobodies. Captain Wu muttered, “Who are these guys, anyway? Bodyguards or something?”
"Who are you? Are you talking to me?" Lynn Chen demanded.
Lynn's face darkened.
She had originally wanted to say a few good words for Captain Wu, but she never expected that this suddenly appearing boy would instantly crush her momentum.
Ever since the Zheng family rose to power, Lynn had never encountered such a situation before.
"I'm someone you can't afford to offend," Evan Lin replied flatly.
Evan gave her a calm glance and led his group forward.
He naturally turned to Lily Zhong, smiling as he greeted her, "Hello, Teacher Zhong. It's been a while."
"Teacher Zhong?"
"Teacher?"
Hearing Evan's words, Lynn's father, the middle-aged man, frowned slightly.
He had already noticed Evan Lin from the moment he started speaking.
Just from the sound of his voice, the middle-aged man thought the boy sounded quite arrogant—probably some young heir from a powerful family.
But at a glance, he couldn't figure out which family Evan belonged to.
To be honest, looking across Seacrest, even those from strong families had to give some face to the Zheng family.
After all, barring surprises, if the Zheng family was given a little more time, they'd likely become the strongest clan in Seacrest.
"I wondered what she did—turns out she's just a teacher," one flight attendant sneered, rolling her eyes at Lily Zhong's back.
"Just a teacher, so where does she get such attitude? Captain Wu asks for her contact info and she's still playing hard to get," another flight attendant muttered.
The flight attendants naturally noticed Evan Lin and those beside him.
At first glance, Evan looked like a handsome teenager, pleasant enough, but his background was unclear.
But the two girls beside Evan—Yvette Locke and Queenie Tong—were so stunning that everyone else at the scene was instantly outclassed.
As flight attendants, they'd met plenty of people and knew that any boy who could walk around with girls like that must have some real backing.
So they only dared to whisper quietly beside Captain Wu, not speaking too loudly.
"Still calling me teacher?"
Lily Zhong pretended to glare at Evan Lin for calling her that.
But seeing Evan's stubborn, unyielding look, Lily couldn't help but break into a smile first.
"About last time..."
She was about to say something.
"Last time's issue has been dealt with. If anything like that happens again, you must tell me—don't risk yourself." Evan Lin said decisively.
Evan's words were firm. Lily Zhong nodded, her gaze softening as she looked at him.
She regretted it afterward.
She had hoped to handle the attack from Leo Li of the Hong Kong Li family on her own, but the people he brought weren't ordinary.
If Lily hadn't stubbornly held out, worried about troubling Evan, she wouldn't have nearly died in the end.
That just made things even more troublesome for Evan.
"Sister Zhong!" Queenie Tong and Yvette Locke stepped forward, each linking arms with Lily Zhong.
The girls all got along well together.
"You say I can't afford to offend you?" Lynn Chen asked, clearly annoyed that Evan Lin brushed her off and was now chatting happily with Lily Zhong, not even bothering to look at her.
"I'm talking to you!" Lynn stepped forward, blocking Evan's path and glaring at him.
"Are you just going to let this go?" Lynn snapped.
Evan glanced at her, then shifted his gaze to the middle-aged man standing nearby, reviewing some documents.
"Raising without teaching is the father's fault. I'll give you three seconds for your daughter to apologize," Evan said, his tone calm.
Evan's voice was calm.
"Are you talking to me?" the middle-aged man asked.
The middle-aged man closed his contract, handed it to his secretary, and frowned as he looked at Evan.
From Evan's eyes, he sensed an indescribable calm.
As if there wasn't the slightest hint of anger.
But the words Evan spoke made the middle-aged man keenly sense danger.
"Three," Evan began counting.
Evan spoke in a flat tone.
"Are you the guy this beautiful lady said is better than me in every way?" Captain Wu, who had been standing nearby, stepped forward and interrupted Evan.
He wore his captain's uniform, smiling, and walked to Lynn Chen's side to stand beside her, facing Evan Lin.
"You want to compare yourself to me?" Evan Lin looked him up and down and shook his head. "This isn't about who's stronger—you're not even qualified to compete with me."
"What a joke. Young man, being too arrogant isn't a good thing," Captain Wu replied with a faint smile, though inwardly he was scoffing at Evan's words.
A kid this cocky probably hadn't faced the harsh realities of society yet.
Usually, the more arrogant someone is, the less confidence they actually have.
Captain Wu believed he could easily defeat the boy before him.
"I'm not interested in you. I just want your teacher's contact info," Captain Wu said, dismissing Evan Lin.
Captain Wu turned away from Evan Lin and looked at Lily Zhong, smiling. "Now, in front of everyone, I'm asking for your contact info."
"Isn't this more formal?" Captain Wu asked Lily Zhong.
