Injured, You Cannot See My Blood Flowing

Serena Feng managed to cleverly get herself onto the horse’s back, but that didn’t mean she could stay there. The moment the horse was startled, it shot forward at full speed, all four hooves off the ground. Even though Serena was prepared, she was still violently thrown off.

"She fell! Serena Feng fell off the horse!" The crowd’s hearts all skipped a beat, their wild excitement turning to worry—and maybe, for some, a hint of anticipation for drama.

Fell off? Nolan Eastlyn only felt a sharp pain in his palm. It took him a moment to realize he’d been clenching his fist too hard. The Emperor glanced at him thoughtfully, but Nolan remained utterly calm, his dark eyes as tranquil as ever.

From the moment Serena Feng fell, every move she made tugged at the hearts of everyone present—including Princess Yara and Su Wan. Those two women desperately hoped Serena would die in the fall, or at least be crippled.

Too bad for Princess Yara and Su Wan—their hopes were dashed. Serena might not have martial arts training, but her body was exceptionally agile and her reflexes far faster than most. Though she’d been thrown off, she managed to grab the horse’s tail and didn’t go flying as those two had wished.

At the moment she was tossed from the horse, Serena didn’t fall or blank out like most people do. She didn’t waste even half a second—she landed, and immediately started running alongside the horse.

She owed this to all those years sprinting at the edge of explosions—Serena often ran behind the demolition squad, serving as their medical escort.

The peacekeeping demolition team members were elite among elites. Not only were they experts in explosives, their military skills were also top-tier.

Whether it was to show off in front of Serena, the pretty field doctor, or just habit, these guys never waited for the vehicles to stop before getting out—they’d jump off while the trucks were still speeding along.

They’d grab the door, leap out, keep their balance, and sprint forward—all in one smooth, reckless motion, without a hint of fear or hesitation. For them, it was as natural as breathing.

So not only did Serena Feng take longer to learn, her skills ended up just average—but for dealing with this horse, it was enough.

This horse was obviously restless and agitated. Serena was insanely grateful she’d prepared sedatives ahead of time. She gripped the tail with one hand, refusing to let the wild horse throw her off, all while calculating the best moment to vault onto its back.

Ugh... If only she’d mastered the demolition team leader’s technique, she wouldn’t have to overthink it—she could’ve just jumped up the instant she started falling. Thinking of this, Serena couldn’t help but curse.

Somewhere, a major who’d just returned from the front lines was investigating Serena’s death, flipping through collected files while sneezing.

"Who’d have thought a stupid cold would last seven days and still not go away? If only Dr. Feng were here..."

His eyes held admiration, longing, sweetness—but in the end, only sadness remained...

Maybe it was from running too fast, maybe her boots were just crap, but Serena felt like her soles were on fire. The pain made her want to curse out loud.

The horse, frustrated at failing to shake Serena off, grew even more explosive—now, it was charging straight for the iron fence around the arena, like it didn’t care about dying.

"This horse is nuts!" Serena couldn’t help cursing Princess Yara Valen.

"That damn woman—was she scheming against me back in Lyndaria? Even a professional horse trainer would struggle with this beast, let alone Princess Serenity. If Serenity had been in the ring, she’d have been kicked to death by now."

Seeing the wild horse about to slam into the iron fence, Serena gripped its tail with both hands.

"Forget it—just go for broke!"

She jumped up, pressing her hands down on the horse’s tail, using her arms to vault herself onto its back. In slow motion, it looked just like a gymnastic goat jump—except she almost didn’t make it.

"Serena Feng, amazing!" The crowd, who’d been sweating bullets for her, erupted in cheers again.

"A tiger father breeds a tiger daughter. General Feng’s girl is something else!"

"I’ve got to ask Serena Feng for tips later—those two moves were gorgeous!"

The Eastlyn crowd was thrilled, but Princess Yara Valen and Su Wan were anything but. Not only were they worried the two warhorses might fall into Eastlyn’s hands, they also fretted about how the men they cared about might react...

Yara looked up and saw Prince Adrian Dongling’s face full of admiration, his eyes shining. She knew that look well—he’d looked at her the same way when they first met.

It was amazement—and a hint of love.

Yara was so furious, she snapped her own bracer in half. The people around her noticed, but just assumed she couldn’t stand losing. Even though she hadn’t technically lost yet, everyone figured—given Serena’s stunning skills—victory was just a matter of time.
