Lady Vivian Zhu, Take Care

She suddenly turned around and looked at them.

The two had just breathed a sigh of relief, but when she looked at them, their hearts jumped right back into their throats. They were tense all over, looking extremely suspicious.

She started walking back toward them, step by step.

“M-Miss, is there something else you need?” Louis Lin stammered, inexplicably flustered.

“If you know where he is, you have to tell me,” Grace said sincerely. “You know my medical skills—if he’s hurt, I can treat him!”

Louis Lin shook his head. “We really don’t know. Miss, maybe you could try divining again? If you figure it out, please let us know so we can—feel at ease—wait, Miss, what are you doing?”

Grace suddenly grabbed Louis Lin by the collar.

“You definitely know where he is! Tell me!” Grace glared at him, her eyes sharp.

“We really don’t know! Honestly!” Louis Lin pleaded, throwing Quentin Chin a desperate look for help.

Grace didn’t press further. Instead, she pulled out a mysterious little porcelain bottle and asked, “Guess what’s inside?”

“I... I don’t know.” Louis Lin looked absolutely pitiful.

“There are spirit worms inside.” Grace pulled out the stopper and held it up for him to see.

Inside were squirming little black bugs, looking especially disgusting.

Grace wasn’t one to keep spirit worms.

She’d gotten them from someone else long ago, and somehow they’d survived for years without dying.

“If you don’t talk, I’ll dump all these bugs straight into your mouth!” Grace threatened darkly.

“No! No! Quentin, save me!” Louis Lin was on the verge of tears.

He really missed the old days with Lily Bai, who didn’t have a spirit root at all!

“Miss Lawrence, let Louis go! We really don’t know!” Steward Qin pleaded anxiously from the side.

Grace brought the bottle right up to Louis Lin’s mouth.

“Help! Help!” Louis Lin shrieked, terrified.

But now he was just a first-rank spirit user—there was no way he could escape Grace’s grip.

“We do know where he is!” Steward Qin suddenly spoke up.

Grace paused, looking at him.

“But the General said we can’t tell,” Steward Qin said. “The General is the commander—his word is law. Even if you kill us, we can’t say anything.”

Grace took a deep breath. That was the truth.

Last time, Evan Xiao gave them three days to break off the engagement, and it really was exactly three days.

“Miss, could you please move those disgusting bugs away?” Louis Lin’s eyes were red as he begged.

Grace let him go, picked up the stopper, and closed the bottle. She asked gloomily, “Then tell me, is he in danger? When will he be back?”

“No, he’s not in any danger. Don’t worry, he should be back soon,” Steward Qin replied.

Grace nodded. “Alright, I won’t make things hard for you. When he comes back, please let me know right away.”

“Of course! Absolutely! The General said we should treat you as the General’s wife, so of course we’ll tell you first thing,” Steward Qin promised.

The General’s wife?

Grace was inexplicably pleased. She glanced at Steward Qin, smiled, and walked away.

“Take care, Madam!” Quentin Chin called after her. Only when she was out of sight did he finally dare to relax.

“Take care, Madam?” Louis Lin gave Quentin Chin a thumbs up. “Nice one, Quentin!”

“Heh! That’s called wisdom—you wouldn’t get it.” Quentin Chin chuckled, then squatted down and went back to scrubbing the pool.
