"Use your brain. Think carefully, brother." John Chou said, walking over to the steps of the small pavilion. He sat down, pressed his hands together, and quietly watched me.

From John Chou's expression, it was clear he didn't intend to tell me directly. I started to think. In both dreams I'd experienced, I was completely passive, just letting the dream unfold, powerless to change anything. In the second dream, I almost lost consciousness.

In this respect, I was powerless, only able to let the dream develop as it wished.

"Brother, why don't you try experiencing another dream? When you figure it out, you'll naturally know how to control the dream. Haven't you already found your own Instinct?"

"By the way, can you tell me what exactly Instinct is?"

I looked at John Chou with concern. His Instinct was called 'Slaughter.' Just hearing that word made me think of how ghosts, or people, viewed John Chou—he was seen as a ruthless, merciless ghost.

"You could say that. Dreams are actually an extension of human desires. Because of social morals and laws, people can't break free from their desires—lust, greed, hatred—these common desires can't be freely realized in real life."

I nodded.

"In real life, brother, say you fall for a woman, but she doesn't like you. If you force yourself on her, do you think society would allow such a thing?"

I immediately shook my head.
