Victor Wu spoke with harsh authority.
Standing there being scolded by him, Leon Yuan’s face kept shifting between pale and flushed, but at this point, Leon honestly had no idea what he was supposed to say.
"Still just standing here like an idiot? Move aside already!"
Victor Wu shouted.
Leon Yuan had no choice but to step aside.
A grown man, reduced in this moment to a scolded schoolboy.
To everyone watching, the whole scene looked especially ridiculous.
"Just do a quick wipe, alright? Tough it out for now—later you can go change. Meeting the director over there is the real priority."
Victor Wu glanced at the bit of cake on Yara Song’s dress.
Actually, the cake mark was barely noticeable—just a tiny smudge. A quick wipe with a towel and you’d hardly see any trace at all.
But Victor Wu’s attack on Leon Yuan was purely out of a desire to make him look bad.
For Victor, humiliating someone who used to be popular but is now washed-up gave him a wicked sense of satisfaction.
"And you—watch your step from now on! If it happens again, I’ll have you blacklisted, believe it or not!"
Victor Wu shot Leon Yuan a disdainful look, his face full of contempt.
Listening to him, Leon stood there without even a chance to defend himself.
As Victor spoke, he suddenly stepped forward, grabbed a tray piled with cake, and flung it straight at Leon.
Leon saw the tray coming—he could have dodged, but this time, he couldn’t.
A soft thud.
Clang!
The cake splattered all over Leon’s clothes, covering him in a sticky mess.
The tray hit the floor with a crisp sound.
Leon clenched his fist, his body trembling.
"Forget it, just leave it like this."
Yara Song glanced at him, saw the cake covering his clothes, and shook her head. Without a hint of apology, she walked right past Leon.
She couldn’t even be bothered to look at Leon again.
If this had been a few years ago, when Leon was at his peak, Yara would never have treated him like this.
"Be more careful next time."
Victor Wu couldn’t resist saying one last thing as he walked past Leon.
The two of them headed inside.
"What a pity."
"He was famous once, after all."
"Guess he just had bad luck."
The rest of the guests followed Victor and Yara inside.
No one came forward to comfort Leon.
Leon grabbed a towel from a nearby table and wiped at the cake on his clothes.
But Victor had thrown so much cake that Leon’s clothes were covered in it.
He wiped and wiped, but the more he cleaned, the dirtier it got.
"Forget it."
Leon gave up, took a deep breath, and forced himself to ignore the stares from the crowd.
He picked up a fresh tray, grabbed some desserts and drinks, steadied his emotions, and finally walked toward Evan Lin and Mia Miao.
Here, I wasn’t sure what you’d like, so I grabbed a bit of everything. Try them first—if you like anything, let me know and I’ll get more for you.
Leon arrived at Evan’s side, set down the tray, and forced a relaxed smile.
He helped Evan with the food because he was worried Evan would feel out of place.
Even though Evan seemed calm, Leon still worried he’d feel awkward or embarrassed about getting food, so he took care of it for him.
"What happened to you?"
Mia Miao noticed something was wrong. Seeing Leon’s messy clothes, her face froze.
"It’s nothing, just got a little messy while getting food. No big deal."
Leon shook his head, pretending to be carefree.
"Maybe you should go change and come back?"
Mia looked worried. “I want to take you to meet Director Gavin Yu later, but if you look like this, it might not leave a good impression.”
Leon hadn’t planned to change—he thought it was unnecessary.
He was already washed-up, and in a place full of stars, he barely existed.
So even if his clothes were dirty, it didn’t matter.
After what happened, Leon just planned to find a quiet corner and stay there, so he wouldn’t have to run into Yara Song or anyone else and embarrass himself again.
"Is there any chance?"
Leon hesitated after hearing Mia’s words.
"Lily Tan is someone I know well. If she can promise something like that, it means she’s absolutely sure she can reach Director Gavin Yu."
"With Kevin Zhou having Master Liang as his action coach, I really don’t see why Director Gavin Yu wouldn’t pick him."
Leon sighed.
He had hoped that changing direction might help him make a comeback.
But before he could even start, someone blocked his path.
You have to at least try.
Mia Miao also hesitated.
She knew they’d probably be looked down on, but this chance was too rare to pass up.
If Leon could land a part in Director Gavin Yu’s film, maybe he could successfully change direction and restart his career.
You should give it a try.
While they hesitated, a calm voice spoke.
They turned and looked at Evan Lin, who was sitting nearby.
Evan was calmly eating dessert.
Evan’s words were casual, but hearing them made Leon suddenly feel much more confident.
Leon didn’t know why, but whenever this young man gave him even a little encouragement, he instantly felt calm.
Then I’ll give it a shot.
Leon nodded. “No matter what, you have to try.”
I’ll go change first.
Mia, stay here with him. If Kevin Zhou and Lily Tan really bring Master Liang over, you should…
Leon seemed to make up his mind.
Just tell Master Liang that everything said before was from me, Leon Yuan.
Leon said this firmly.
But he was risking his entire future.
Given Leon’s situation, Master Liang could easily blacklist him.
Mia didn’t argue—she nodded and agreed.
Evan watched all this quietly, saying nothing—not even offering Leon a word of reassurance.
But if Master Liang really shows up, Evan won’t let Leon take the blame alone.
But Serena still hadn’t arrived.
