Chapter 925 Retreat
A dozen Title Archmages cast their spells within a two- to three-hundred-meter radius, all the while dodging relentlessly. For the colossal Ancestral Warden, towering at a hundred and fifty meters, that distance amounted to just two strides.
The first unfortunate soul who was crushed to death became a warning for all. No one dared let the Ancestral Warden close in within a hundred meters. At that range, even though it was a spirit and its massive body made it less agile, it was still enough to pose a fatal threat. Getting caught meant certain death.
Endless fire spears, ice lances, boulders, and wind blades howled in torrents, relentlessly battering the Ancestral Warden. The Warden had abandoned its assault on Leon's alchemical golem legion, focusing entirely on fending off the encirclement by the dozen Title Archmages.
Meteors rained down, blanketing hundreds of meters in a meteor shower. Sometimes, the Ancestral Warden would snatch a meteor midair and hurl it at the attacking mages as if tossing a pebble.
The falling meteors still left visible trails in the sky, but once hurled by the Ancestral Warden, all that remained was a blur. The meteor instantly broke the sound barrier, unleashing a surge of air and a terrifying, roaring howl.
One Fifth-Rank Title Archmage, standing over a hundred meters away, never imagined the Ancestral Warden would grab a seven- or eight-meter-wide meteor and fling it like a stone.
That terrifying speed brought the meteor before him in the blink of an eye. A seven- or eight-meter-wide meteor, breaking the sound barrier, crashed toward him with a force far beyond what any flaming meteor spell could unleash.
What looked like a simple throw was actually imbued with the strength of a Ninth-Rank Sword Saint, making the flaming meteor far deadlier than any Seventh-Rank spell.
The moment the meteor struck, the mage’s Frost Shield and Rune Shield were warped and crushed by the immense force, exploding in a deafening blast. The meteor, now cracked and misshapen from the impact, smashed directly into the mage.
Boom...
With a thunderous crash, the seven- or eight-meter-wide meteor exploded, shattering the mage’s body into fragments along with it...
Instant kill...
But it wasn’t over yet. The Ancestral Warden suddenly erupted, instantly killing two more mages. Their defensive spells were utterly useless, unable to withstand such raw, brutal attacks.
Faced with such terrifying, brute-force attacks, no one dared stand still to cast spells anymore. Everyone kept moving.
Half a minute later, Difo, who had always kept his distance, found himself closest to the Ancestral Warden. Among the dozen Title Archmages, Difo alone was a Ninth-Rank Title Archmage.
Difo was focused solely on destroying the Ancestral Warden, attacking with everything he had. After the Warden instantly killed two mages, the rest began darting around, their attacks weakening considerably.
Combined, the group’s attacks didn’t match the damage of Difo’s spells alone. This finally enraged the Orc Ancestral Warden.
The Ancestral Warden, which had been retaliating indiscriminately against the mages, immediately shifted its attention to Difo.
A rain of flaming meteors poured down like a storm, and the Ancestral Warden reached out, slamming its hand into a speeding flaming meteor.
In an instant, where the Ancestral Warden’s massive hand collided with the flaming meteor, a shockwave erupted, visible to the naked eye. The blast swept across the ground, causing the earth to tremble violently, and a colossal crack stretching over a hundred meters split open the surface.
The flaming meteor was forcibly redirected, instantly hurtling toward Difo. Behind the meteor, a terrifying white tidal wave erupted, stretching over a hundred meters, accompanied by a constant rumble of thunder.
Difo had anticipated this move from the Ancestral Warden, but this time, instead of grabbing and throwing, it simply slapped the meteor straight at him.
Difo’s hair nearly stood on end. Without hesitation, he unleashed a Rune Shield, Elemental Shield, Mana Shield, and even tossed out a scale-like magical artifact.
The artifact resembled a dragon scale, etched with strange patterns. As Difo threw it, a terrifying abyssal aura erupted from the scale.
The abyssal aura instantly coalesced into a massive, ferocious black dragon head, which collided head-on with the meteor.
The flaming meteor’s speed was terrifying, and the force behind it rivaled a full-powered strike from a Ninth-Rank Sword Saint—let alone the meteor’s own destructive power.
The scale Difo threw was forged from the Abyssal Evil Dragon’s scales—a defensive artifact that could block anything short of transcendent power.
The abyssal aura on the scale activated, thick black smoke morphing into a ferocious Abyssal Evil Dragon’s head, which bit down on the flaming meteor.
Terrifying shockwaves rippled outward, crackling with lightning, sweeping across the battlefield. The force of the collision was so intense it emptied the air, even triggering changes in the elemental energies around them.
The flaming meteor exploded in the jaws of the Abyssal Evil Dragon, sending fire and blinding light everywhere. Half of the smoky, conjured dragon’s head was blasted away in an instant.
Difo’s face turned pale, but he let out a faint sigh of relief. If not for the defensive artifact in his hand, that last hit would have left him dead or gravely injured.
But before Difo could fully catch his breath, the colossal Ancestral Warden swung its other hand, slapping another speeding flaming meteor.
Boom...
In an instant, a white shockwave traced through the air, and the meteor crashed into Difo’s defensive artifact before he could react.
The conjured dragon head from the defensive artifact had just been shattered and hadn’t reformed yet. The Abyssal Evil Dragon Scale itself took the full brunt of the meteor’s terrifying force.

Endless black smoke erupted from the Abyssal Evil Dragon Scale, and every strange pattern on the scale flared with a deep, eerie glow.
But in the next moment, all that sinister glow and the volcano-like eruption of black smoke were blasted apart by the meteor’s terrifying force.
Bang...
With a deafening crash, the Abyssal Evil Dragon Scale shattered into fragments, while the meteor—already riddled with cracks—barely lost any momentum and continued barreling toward Difo.
Difo’s face went pale as he unleashed all his mana, trying to dodge to the side. He even triggered a stored Triple Frost Impact from his staff.
The white frost impact struck the meteor, but even three layers of frost barely made a dent.
Difo managed to dodge only six or seven meters...
Keep in mind, the meteor itself was over seven meters in diameter!
The flaming meteor grazed past Difo, barely brushing his shield. Even that slight contact caused every rune on his Rune Shield to flare with blinding light, as if releasing their final burst.
In an instant, the shield was shredded...
But the worst was yet to come. The meteor’s overwhelming force wasn’t limited to its mass; the energy swirling around it was just as terrifying.
Invisible shockwaves slammed into Difo, instantly shredding the elemental arc outside his body. His last mana shield was torn apart the next moment...
Difo’s body was struck head-on as if by a Golden Behemoth, sending him flying backward, blood spraying from his mouth.
While airborne, Difo managed to conjure a shield to block the last remnants of force...
Still in midair, Difo’s face was ashen, his eyes filled with terror. After the flaming meteor grazed past him, it crashed into the ground a kilometer away, detonating with such force that everything within dozens of meters was obliterated—leaving not a trace behind.
But that wasn’t all. Difo could clearly feel that the Orc Ancestral Warden was now targeting him, focusing its suppressive flaming meteor rain on his position.
Now it grabbed another meteor and hurled it at him.
Difo dodged the third flaming meteor with a quick Flight spell, but he had no intention of continuing the fight here.
The Orc Ancestral Warden’s strength was terrifying. Though not transcendent, it far surpassed what a titled archmage should possess.
As he calmed down, cold sweat began to drip from Difo’s forehead. Only then did he realize he was the strongest among those fighting the Orc Ancestral Warden—and also the most aggressive, attacking without regard for anything else.
No wonder the Warden noticed him...
Immediately, Difo began to quietly retreat, drastically reducing his attacks. He wanted to earn more merit, but that didn’t mean he was willing to risk his life against this terrifying Orc Ancestral Warden. Life only comes once—if he fell, he’d lose everything.
Damn it, if I die or get seriously injured, all of Black Tower’s strength will fall to Heron, and Marfa Merlin can keep living comfortably. No way—I have to retreat. I don’t care about the Orc Ancestral Warden anymore...
With that thought, Difo wiped the blood from his lips and decisively withdrew.
But just as Difo began to retreat, the Orc Ancestral Warden strode after him, its attacks intensifying. Two flaming meteors, each eight meters in diameter, were hurled at Difo in rapid succession...
Difo’s face changed completely as he dodged in panic, but was still struck by the force trailing the meteor. His shield was shredded again, his robe glowed briefly before dimming, cracks appeared all over it, and blood streamed from wounds torn open by the razor-sharp currents...
