"Maybe it's just that much of a coincidence." Ethan Yin chuckled softly. "If you don't want Tang De pestering you again, you'd better remember not to slip up."
"What could I possibly slip up about?"
"Still pretending? You're officially the housekeeper at Sunset Manor, but in my mom's heart, you've always been her daughter-in-law."
"I... I am not!" Cherry Miller's cheeks flushed red. "Don't say nonsense!"
"Alright, alright, I won't say nonsense. I'll just speak my heart." Ethan Yin gazed at Cherry Miller with deep affection. "In my heart, you've always been my wife."
Cherry Miller was speechless, turning her head to look out the window, pretending she hadn't heard a thing.
Ethan Yin tried to hold back his laughter, but after a while, he couldn't help it and laughed quietly. "Alright, I'll stop teasing you. Don't be mad!"
Cherry Miller was at a loss for words, no matter if she spoke or stayed silent.
"D City is full of forests, and with all the rain this season, it's the perfect time for wild mushrooms." Seeing Cherry Miller uncomfortable, Ethan Yin changed the subject, trying to coax her into talking. "I remember you really like them. I'll take you to try some later."
"Work comes first," Cherry Miller replied stiffly.
"Alright, alright. After work, we can go try them." Ethan Yin answered dotingly.
Cherry Miller felt that time in the car was dragging on endlessly.
If she'd known, she would've just slept as soon as she got in the car.
Then she wouldn't have to be teased by Ethan Yin like this.
Luckily, Quentin Sheng was a steady driver, and the three-hour journey passed quickly.
Once they entered D City, there were a lot more out-of-town cars on the road.
Most were here for the Home Expo or for sightseeing.
Quentin Sheng and the others didn't go straight to the Expo. Instead, they first went to the hotel they'd booked to freshen up.
After changing into a more formal outfit, Cherry Miller waited in the hotel lobby for Ethan Yin to come down so they could head to the Expo together.
Just as Cherry Miller was waiting, a familiar figure suddenly caught her eye.
Talk about a coincidence, huh?
The person who arrived was none other than Derek Tang, the very one Ethan Yin had mentioned on the road.
Clinging to Derek Tang's arm was a woman with exaggeratedly large eyes, an obviously enhanced nose, and a curvy figure like a gourd. She hung onto him with seductive charm.
Both Cherry Miller and Derek Tang looked surprised when they saw each other.
Especially Derek Tang.
He really had coveted Cherry Miller in the past.
But Cherry Miller was slippery and never played by his rules.
Later, when Cherry Miller lost her Chief Assistant position, Derek Tang completely lost patience with her.
He had been chasing Cherry Miller because her position was worth his time investment.
Now that she was no longer Chief Assistant, there was no reason to waste time on a woman with no value.
There are plenty of beautiful women in the world—so many that with just a wave of a finger, they'd come running.
Why bother working so hard to please a woman with no value?
Derek Tang now was nothing like he used to be.
Back then, whenever Derek Tang saw Cherry Miller, he always played the refined gentleman.
But now—
"Honey, who is she?" Tina Tian, the internet celebrity, noticed her newly acquired sugar daddy staring at another woman and immediately compared herself to Cherry Miller.
Huh, she's short.
Huh, her face is natural.
Huh, she's old!
Tina Tian instantly felt superior.
Derek Tang ignored Tina Tian and walked over to Cherry Miller, greeting her, "Miss Miller, here for the Expo?"
"Yes, it looks like you are too." Cherry Miller nodded politely, as if nothing had happened.
"Did you come alone?" Derek Tang asked.
Before Cherry Miller could answer, Derek Tang continued, "Looks like you did. Tsk tsk, a fallen phoenix is worse than a chicken! You were once the Chief Assistant at Yin Group, but the Yin family was ruthless, demoting you just like that. I heard they sent you off to manage some tiny manor on a hill? The Yin family has hundreds of estates, right? And they stuck you as a mere housekeeper—what a waste of talent!"
"It's fine," Cherry Miller replied calmly. "I don't feel wronged."
"How about this? My company still needs an assistant. I'll pay you fifty thousand a month—come work for me." Derek Tang said arrogantly. "We're acquaintances, so I can look out for you."
Tina Tian was immediately unhappy, pouting and shaking Derek Tang's arm. "Honey, you never let me work at your company! Why should she get to go?"
Derek Tang pinched Tina Tian's chin and said, "You can't compare to her. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania!"
Tina Tian, who dropped out after middle school, had no idea what the University of Pennsylvania was.
Tina Tian pouted, "But I'm younger! I'm only seventeen! She's so old!"
Derek Tang laughed, "Yes, yes, you're still young!"
Only then did Tina Tian look at Cherry Miller with a smug, challenging expression.
Cherry Miller just smiled lightly. "No need. I'm fine up on the hill. Even as a small housekeeper, Madam pays me well enough—more than enough to live on. But thank you for your offer, Mr. Tang."
Derek Tang wasn't really inviting her; he just wanted to put Cherry Miller down and get back at her for ignoring him before.
Now that he'd gotten what he wanted, Derek Tang didn't bother to stick around. "Well then, we'll be going."
"Alright." Cherry Miller stepped aside, showing she wasn't going to stop them at all.
As Tina Tian passed by Cherry Miller, she noticed that although Cherry Miller's clothes didn't have a visible brand, the quality and workmanship were excellent. Jealous, she glared before strutting away.

At the elevator, Derek Tang's phone suddenly rang.
Seeing that the caller was Miss Li, Derek Tang said to Tina Tian, "You go up first, I'll be back in a bit."
Tina Tian immediately grew suspicious. "You're not planning to go back and chat with that woman, are you?"
Seeing Tina Tian jealous, Derek Tang couldn't be more pleased.
Derek Tang, ever the chauvinist, liked women like Tina Tian who revolved around him.
"Are you silly? I don't care for that uptight woman! You're way more fun." Derek Tang pinched Tina Tian's cheek and brushed her off. "Alright, hurry up and go upstairs, I'm just taking a call."
With that, he pushed Tina Tian into the elevator and turned to answer Miss Li's call. "Darling, what's up? ...Ah, I'm on a business trip right now. Mm-hmm, I know, I really want to see you soon too. ...You want to come over? Oh no, no, it's too far, don't tire yourself out. Besides, I'll be back in two days, it's not worth the trip. ...Okay, I miss you too. Once I've made some achievements, I'll ask your family for your hand, okay? ...It's settled then! ...Love you! Bye!"
After hanging up, a mocking smile flashed across Derek Tang's face.
Stupid woman!
But it's exactly because she's stupid that she's easy to control!
Once he married her and got his hands on the Li family's assets, he could have as many women as he wanted. Life would be sweet!
Meanwhile, Tina Tian stomped upstairs in a huff.
Ding—
The elevator doors opened.
As Tina Tian stepped out, she caught sight of a figure and suddenly felt rooted to the spot, unable to move.
Standing ahead was a tall, devilishly handsome man with long legs and seductive, almond-shaped eyes that could make anyone lose themselves.
Ahhh!
Who is he?
He's so handsome!
Compared to this guy, Derek Tang wasn't even worthy of being his shoe boy!
Ethan Yin, waiting for the elevator, suddenly sensed a sticky, unpleasant gaze. He frowned and looked over.
He saw a woman with an influencer's face staring at him like a lovesick fool.
