Annihilation

"Sigh, that's strange. It was that guy who did it, not me. I didn't do anything at all."

Mr. Oblivion looked helplessly at Quinn Lee. I glanced over and saw that Quinn Lee's body was covered in small holes, with green blood dripping steadily from them. In an instant, his ghostly aura diminished significantly.

Mr. Oblivion seemed to be waiting for something, completely ignoring us. His eyes kept searching for something. With a ripping sound, he tore off his upper clothing, which had already burst open, revealing solid black muscles underneath.

I also noticed that The Dragon had disappeared at some point, and that a large number of buildings in Jialan City had vanished as well.

Looking around, I saw that more than half of Jialan City was gone. The buildings that remained only gave the sense that the ghosts here were gathering at the edges, trying to escape but unable to, forced to huddle near the city's boundary.

"You hit me a bit hard just now."

A rough voice came from behind. I looked over—it was The Dragon, standing right behind Mr. Oblivion. His body was nearly three meters tall. Once obese, he now looked strong and robust, almost like a completely different person. Around The Dragon, a black current swirled like smoke. My heart tightened as I sensed a very ominous power.

Withered. My ghost network around The Dragon felt as if it were a dying plant, that was the sensation conveyed to me.

The Dragon's eyes had turned bright red, and two pairs of crimson horns sprouted from his head, resembling a dragon. He glared fiercely at Mr. Oblivion.

"The aura of accumulated death, huh? This is the first time I've seen a ghost able to wield such power."

Mr. Oblivion said approvingly, and The Dragon burst out laughing.

"You two, don't come any closer. Get out of the way. When I start fighting, I won't have time to worry about you."

With a whoosh, Quinn Lee recovered a bit and flew up. He seemed to sense the ominous nature of this aura and quickly headed off into the distance. I immediately followed behind him.

It was strange—this aura swirling around The Dragon's body was something I had never seen before.

Mr. Oblivion widened the distance between himself and The Dragon. He seemed to know exactly what this power was, and his gaze grew serious.

"Heh, are you scared now? Kid, I'm going to pay you back double."

With a snap, The Dragon swung his hand, sending a meat hook wrapped in black energy flying at Mr. Oblivion. This time, Mr. Oblivion actually started dodging, no longer as composed as before.

Quinn Lee sat quietly on the ground nearby, then looked at me.

"Brother Zhang, you'd better get ready too. This guy is tough to deal with. The Dragon is the manifestation of ghost soul. I'm about to manifest my own ghost soul now."

Quinn Lee said this, then closed his eyes and sat cross-legged on the ground. Resolute slowly floated upward, hovering above Quinn Lee's head. I sat down as well, releasing Deathbane Aura from my hands. My mind kept racing—I would need a weapon far more powerful to deal with this guy.

Of all the weapons I could use right now, the most powerful was the Deathbane Shotgun. If I wanted even greater firepower, the grenade launcher was strong, but I couldn't load offensive rounds, except for the Desire Bullets—I had used them once before when I was barely halfway through.

Gradually, the Deathbane Aura in my hands began to gather. One by one, intricate black components appeared, slowly assembling themselves together.

At that moment, Mr. Oblivion actually started to run away. I wasn't seeing things—he was really fleeing. The Dragon swung both of his meat hooks and chased after him.

"Don't run! If you've got guts, come here!"

The Dragon roared, his two meat hooks crossing and weaving through the air. Mr. Oblivion just kept dodging, showing no intention of meeting him head-on.

A breeze began to blow nearby, the pressure coming from Quinn Lee's body. The green ghostly aura on his surface sprayed out like water, gradually intensifying, while Resolute began to spin above his head.

"It's about to begin."

I muttered, then with a whoosh, Spirit Snake emerged from my body, holding up one hand. The grenade launcher was finally complete, heavy in my grip. With a bang, I set the launcher aside, raising both hands—I was ready to start making the lethal rounds.

I couldn't do it alone—I needed Spirit Snake's help. He placed one hand on mine, and gradually, a shell the size of a fist appeared before me. I began to infuse it with Deathbane Aura.

"Careful with the power, Ethan. If you mess up, you could die."

I nodded and continued to pour Deathbane Aura into it.

At that moment, Mr. Oblivion suddenly stopped. With two swift moves, he dodged The Dragon's twin meat hook attacks, then suddenly dashed right up to The Dragon, raising his fist and striking out.

With a bang, a huge ripple of air spread across the sky as Mr. Oblivion's fist slammed into The Dragon's body.

"Hahaha, you're asking for death!"

The Dragon roared, yanking hard with both hands. Behind Mr. Oblivion, the twin meat hooks flew back instantly. Mr. Oblivion's fist was wrapped in black currents, and he seemed to have trouble pulling it out.

Suddenly, I saw Mr. Oblivion raise his left hand and, with a slash, sever his own arm. He leaped upward, dodging the meat hook attack.

The arm stuck in The Dragon's body seemed to turn liquid, sticky and viscous, and soon disappeared completely.

"You got away fast, but try taking one of my hooks!"

The Dragon swung his twin hooks, and with a whoosh, appeared right in front of Mr. Oblivion. Mr. Oblivion immediately straightened his right leg, kicking The Dragon several times in quick succession.

Bang bang bang—the sound rang out as The Dragon was sent flying by an invisible force, stopping mid-air, looking extremely furious.

"Your aura of accumulated death isn't frightening, but it's troublesome. Looks like I'll have to get serious."

As Mr. Oblivion spoke, his severed right hand grew back. He slowly spread both hands behind him.

"What do you think Mr. Oblivion is, exactly?"

Mr. Oblivion's voice drifted on the wind like it came from the wilderness. I blinked and watched quietly as his body rippled and shimmered like a reflection in water.

The Dragon laughed loudly, transforming into a streak of green light and flying toward Mr. Oblivion, swinging his hooks down at him.

With a whoosh, I stared in surprise—Mr. Oblivion's body, like a shadow, dissolved wherever the hooks struck. The Dragon swung his hooks wildly, and Mr. Oblivion's shadow-like body became completely battered.

"Oblivion..."

With a boom, the world around us seemed to suddenly go quiet. For a moment, it felt like time itself had stopped. I was stunned as I saw a twisted black space appear around The Dragon's body.

The Dragon's body was sucked into this black space, while Mr. Oblivion now stood at a distance, white smoke rising from his fists. Then, with a thunderous sound, flames erupted around Mr. Oblivion's body.

A sizzling sound echoed as Mr. Oblivion stared coldly in our direction.

"Who's next?"

With a whoosh, I shouted—it was The Dragon, falling straight from the sky. He looked completely restored, but his consciousness was gone.

"What was that just now?"

I stared at Mr. Oblivion in astonishment. Black smoke began to rise from his skin, as if he were being scorched, then started to corrode, turning into drops of sticky liquid that dripped steadily down.

"Next up is me..."

Quinn Lee shouted from the side, then slowly stood up. Resolute, atop his head, whooshed into his body. He began to float upward, his lower half already vanished, leaving only his upper body, which was steadily fading away.

"Heavenly Sword Final Form—Regret..."

With a thunderous boom, cracks split the sky around Jialan City, and powerful currents swept through. Mr. Oblivion's condition grew increasingly unstable—his body now looked like a shapeless mud figure.

"What a nuisance, that fat bastard's aura of accumulated death."

As Mr. Oblivion spoke, the rubble and debris on the ground began to surge upward. The force was so strong that even the ghosts at the edge of Jialan City were lifted into the air. I felt a rising power slowly pushing me skyward.

"Brother Zhang, seize the opportunity..."

I cried out, snapping the grenade launcher shut—the round was loaded. I floated upward.

With a whoosh, Quinn Lee transformed into a streak of green light, like a meteor. All around him, I saw countless swords spinning in the air. He himself turned into a deep green sword, charging straight at Mr. Oblivion.

"Before me, all things become Oblivion..."

With a snap, Mr. Oblivion's figure exploded. Instantly, I saw only a black heart, pulsing in midair, flying toward that direction.

A powerful current pushed me forward, faster now—it was Quinn Lee's strength.

A piercing, deafening roar erupted. In an instant, the entire ghost domain turned green—everywhere I looked, it was filled with green light.

I roared and charged forward, gripping the grenade launcher in both hands. This time, I wouldn't fail.

With a whoosh, I reached the deepest part of the green light. Suddenly, everything fell silent—it was Mr. Oblivion. He looked different now: jet-black wings sprouted from his back, his hands were bound by red chains, and he wore a broad smile.

"These chains are to lock away the power that could destroy me. So you... have no chance of winning."

I was stunned—Mr. Oblivion's hands were cuffed, blocking Quinn Lee's sword. Then, suddenly, Mr. Oblivion's hands began to tremble violently, and I felt dizzy.

The buzzing vibration grew louder and louder.
