Quinn Shepherd suppressed his unease, shifted his gaze away from Granny Sue, and then saw Butcher standing atop a heavenly star, blades crossed.
Butcher, broad and imposing, stood motionless with his paired sabers.
He next saw Sage Nicholas Tranquil, the mountain recluse, sitting cross-legged on a star with his whisk draped over his elbow.
Then Quinn spotted the Mute Smith, standing atop a fiery star within the Da Luo Heaven Star Domain.
Quinn’s heart clenched so hard he nearly coughed blood. With effort, he shifted his gaze and saw the Imperial Preceptor.
The Imperial Preceptor sat atop the Quake Cauldron, which itself rested on a star within the Da Luo Heaven Star Domain.
Quinn looked away and saw the Weasel Immortal and Fox Immortal, as well as others within the Da Luo Heaven Star Domain—Crippled Joe pushing Apothecary, seated together on a star, with Apothecary’s wounds still bleeding. Grandpa Blind stood with his bamboo staff, head bowed, also atop a star.
There was Grandpa Mark, Buddha-like, Deaf holding his brush, the Skywing Queen with her winged blade, and the Whale King with horns atop his head. All of them stood on their own stars within the Da Luo Heaven Star Domain, manifested in Granny Sue’s palm.
“Where’s Crystal Blaze? Why isn’t she here?”
Quinn anxiously scanned the surroundings, trying to spot any trace of Crystal Blaze.
