Return to Brighthelm Holy City

1/18/2026

Ian Song had begun to suspect and feel wary of Old Spirit, but he kept it all hidden. The Divine Temple was one of the Eight Holy Artifacts—the Time-Space Divine Hall—and possessed supreme power. Even God Emperors would go mad trying to claim it.

He suspected that those who attacked the Star King back then were not just at the God King level; otherwise, Old Spirit wouldn’t have been so cautious and even sealed the Divine Temple.

So, what was Old Spirit hiding his true identity from him for?

Was he afraid Ian would leak the secret?

Or did he have some other motive?

As for soul possession, Ian wasn’t worried—he had the System living in his body, and if Old Spirit ever tried to possess him, the System would teach him a lesson in no time.

For now, Ian still didn’t have the power to force open the Divine Temple. Once he reached Upper Heavenly God, he’d finally have the capital to go head-to-head with Old Spirit. When that time came, he’d probe him again.

If Old Spirit bore no ill will, Ian would fulfill his promise and help avenge him. After all, the Divine Temple had helped him tremendously across all those worlds, and Ian wasn’t an ungrateful person.

But if Old Spirit did harbor malice, then he couldn’t blame Ian for being ruthless. Destroying a full God King would be tough, but taking out a God King’s remnant soul? Ian was confident he could manage that.

Ian Song returned from his tribulation.

The whole estate was filled with joy.

With nearly inexhaustible resources, a God King–grade cultivation method, and the help of gray origin liquid,

Hannah Murong had already cultivated to the late-stage peak of Upper-Rank God over these three years. After consuming large amounts of gray origin liquid, her Divine Soul was exceptionally strong—her combat power was at least several times, up to ten times, that of a normal late-stage Upper-Rank God.

His two masters, as well as Master Heaven-Secrets, hadn’t been neglected either, so they too had stepped into late-stage Upper-Rank God.

Besides them, Nathan Southwind, Ethan Eastcloud, and Noah Northsky had also reached late-stage Upper-Rank God.

The rest had at least reached Upper-Rank God.

With such a lineup, Ian felt much more at ease about heading to Brighthelm Holy City.

So many Upper-Rank Gods working together—even Lower Heavenly Gods would have trouble threatening them.

Night fell.

One was Jade Shaw’s cousin, Taber Hawk; the other was Carter Northcourt.

After several years apart, Taber Hawk had also broken through to the Lower Heavenly God realm.

Thinking of Galen Silverwing and Rhea Redmoon, Ian couldn’t help but worry about them. Several years had passed with no word; he wondered if they’d survived the God-King Tribulation.

The moment Taber Hawk saw Ian, a flash of hatred—and a hint of fear—appeared in his eyes. He still vividly remembered being trapped in that formation.

Carter Northcourt made no effort to hide his hatred, glaring coldly at Ian: "Ian, we meet again!"

Ian just laughed heartily: "Haha, Brother Taber, Young Master Carter, it’s been a long time—I’ve missed you both! How have you been lately?"

Back when he was just an Upper-Rank God, he hadn’t paid them any mind; now, he cared even less. Their hatred meant nothing to him.

“Husband, I can’t believe you’ve managed to gather so many treasures in just a few short years in the God Realm!”

Hannah Murong was full of admiration.

Both men responded to Ian’s greeting with a cold snort.

A few days passed.

A Middle Heavenly God in their group asked with a flattering smile; since both Taber Hawk and Carter Northcourt were heirs of God-King clans, even Middle Heavenly Gods had to curry favor.

After fusing his main body with the Thunder Law Godhead, his combat power soared again—he could match a typical Upper Heavenly God. With eleven Lower Heavenly God avatars, even top-tier Upper Heavenly Gods would be defeated.

Taber Hawk sneered.

After breaking through to the Lower Heavenly God realm, his soul was baptized by the laws of the God Realm and grew much stronger, now approaching the twelfth metamorphosis.

Carter Northcourt chimed in.

At those words, the other Heavenly Gods looked at Ian with undisguised contempt.

Ian ignored them completely and said to Taber Hawk and Carter Northcourt, "Brother Taber, Young Master Carter, I need to go inside and take a mission, so I won’t keep you. Let’s get together for a drink sometime!"

A group of people walked out from inside.

Both men muttered to themselves.

Soon, Ian reached the fifth floor of the Mission Hall. While Five-Star missions were rare in Yushan Prefecture, here there were hundreds—over a thousand in total.

After several years apart, Taber Hawk had also broken through to the Lower Heavenly God realm.

Just as Ian was accepting his missions, Brennan Cliff, an elder, received word that Ian had arrived at Corps Headquarters. Last time, when they went to the Godfall Ruins, not only did Ian survive, but Yuchi Hawk and the others died.

Brennan Cliff was responsible for that mission, so he bore much of the blame. If he hadn’t used a fake God-King avatar to cozy up to a vice commander, he’d probably have lost his elder status by now.

His hatred for Ian deepened, even though he’d already been punished. That was why he hadn’t dared to trouble Ian in recent years.

Now, that kid had shown up in Brighthelm Holy City—and had broken through to the Lower Heavenly God realm. That made Brennan uneasy.

After all, the kid had only been in the God Realm for a little over five years.

To reach the Lower Heavenly God realm in just five years was monstrous. If such a prodigy became his enemy, Brennan would have to eliminate him early—otherwise, once Ian grew up, he’d spell disaster.

Hmph!

Both men responded to Ian's greeting with a cold snort.

"Young Master Taber, Young Master Beigong, who is this guy?"

A Middle Heavenly God in their group asked with a flattering smile; since both Taber Hawk and Beigong Chen were heirs of God-King clans, even Middle Heavenly Gods had to curry favor.

Hmph! Just a kid who knows how to climb the social ladder. If he hadn’t latched onto my uncle, how could he have reached the Lower Heavenly God realm so fast?

Taber Hawk sneered.

That's right—he's nothing but a despicable scoundrel!

Beigong Chen chimed in.

At those words, the other Heavenly Gods looked at Ian with undisguised contempt.

Ian ignored them completely and said to Taber Hawk and Beigong Chen, "Brother Taber, Young Master Beigong, I need to go inside and take a mission, so I won’t keep you. Let’s get together for a drink sometime!"

Like hell we’d drink with you.

Both men muttered to themselves.

Soon, Ian reached the fifth floor of the Mission Hall. While Five-Star missions were rare in Yushan Prefecture, here there were hundreds—over a thousand in total.

After strolling around, Ian accepted ten missions to hunt Lower Heavenly God–level ferocious beasts.

Just as Ian was accepting his missions, Brennan Cliff, an elder, received word that Ian had arrived at Corps Headquarters. Last time, when they went to the Godfall Ruins, not only did Ian survive, but Yuchi Hawk and the others died.
