Yin Enterprises is a tiger too powerful to ignore.
The moment Howard Gu mentioned Yin Enterprises, the other party's attitude flipped from arrogant to deferential—what a dramatic change!
That woman was right—anyone working at Yin Enterprises, even the janitors, earn more than ten thousand a month!
Let alone those in other positions!
That's why Cecilia Gu once said that none of her colleagues drive cars worth less than two hundred thousand.
Just working at Yin Enterprises already puts you among the high earners.
"Since you already have a daughter, why are you so obsessed with having a biological child?" The woman smiled and asked Howard Gu, "So, does your daughter agree with you remarrying?"
Even though Cecilia Gu was eavesdropping, she couldn't help but want to applaud this woman when she heard that!
No wonder Dad treats this woman differently—she really is smarter than most people!
Smart and practical women always see things clearly.
If Charles Yin hadn't been holding her back, Cecilia Gu would have exploded by now!
Who could stay calm about something like this?
Hearing what Mr. Gu said, the other party actually stayed composed, not swayed by the promise of millions in inheritance. With a gentle smile, she replied, "Let's talk again when you really get those ten million. If you get it, I won't object to this marriage."
"Really?" Mr. Gu asked in surprise.
From that one sentence, Cecilia could tell just how much her father liked this woman.
The woman smiled slightly and said, "I have something else to do, excuse me."
She picked up her bag, gracefully stood up, and turned to leave with elegance.
Cecilia pretended to be there for coffee, lowering her head and not daring to look up.
When the woman's gaze swept past Cecilia and Charles, it lingered on Charles for a long time.
If she were ten years younger, she probably wouldn't let Charles go so easily.
After the woman left, Cecilia finally looked up, and through the glass, she could still see the woman's graceful figure.
Compared to her mother, who had worked herself into premature aging for the family, this woman was indeed much more glamorous.
No wonder Dad was so taken with her.
But is that really Dad's reason for giving up on Mom?
A wave of sadness welled up in Cecilia's heart.
After seeing the woman off, Mr. Gu was still excited.
He'd gone on so many blind dates, but this was the first time someone truly caught his eye and moved his heart!
Though she was forty, she was well maintained and looked barely over thirty.
Mr. Gu was lost in the joy of finding a suitable partner, completely unaware that Cecilia and Charles had overheard his entire conversation!
Mr. Gu stood up, elated, ready to leave.
Just as he turned to go, he looked up and saw Cecilia standing right in front of him.
He didn't even have time to wipe the smile off his face—it froze instantly as he saw Cecilia, and he panicked.
He had no idea why Cecilia was here!

"Cecilia... you... why are you..." Mr. Gu started, but when he saw Cecilia's red eyes, he seemed to realize something.
Cecilia sat down in front of her father and said softly, "Dad, let's talk."
Hearing Cecilia say that, Mr. Gu understood everything.
It seemed his daughter already knew everything.
Mr. Gu glanced at Cecilia, then at Charles, and obediently sat down.
Caught in such a situation, the father and daughter suddenly didn't know what to say.
Charles remained in his seat nearby, his eyes deep and unreadable.
On this side, Cecilia sniffled and asked, "Dad, what is going on?"
"Don't you already know? Why are you even asking?" Mr. Gu dodged her gaze, not daring to look at Cecilia.
"I want to hear it from you!" Cecilia looked up at her father, her voice trembling with tears. "Why did you do this?"
"Cecilia, do you know how hard these years have been for me?" Mr. Gu finally broke under his daughter's gaze and blurted out, "Do you know how humiliating it is for me to live in the village all these years without a child? How low I've felt?"
"And what about me? Aren't I your child? Even if I'm adopted, I'm still your daughter!" Cecilia shot back. "Dad, haven't you always told me that having just me as your daughter was enough for this lifetime? If you weren't satisfied with Mom and me, why didn't you just divorce her earlier? Why sneak around behind her back?"
Mr. Gu's face flushed bright red!
He opened his mouth, but couldn't say a word.
"Were you just waiting to meet a better woman before confronting Mom and divorcing her? If you couldn't, you planned to keep enjoying Mom's care without guilt?" Cecilia voiced her father's true thoughts. "Did you think that since Mom couldn't give you a child, never asking for a divorce made you noble? Even if you started a new family, Mom couldn't complain?"
Mr. Gu opened his mouth.
Cecilia really had spoken his true thoughts.
But that was something he could never say out loud.
People would judge him harshly for that!
Tears streamed down Cecilia's face, her heart aching.
The father who had loved her for twenty-three years—had he never really loved her at all?
The family she thought was strong and secure had been hiding danger all along...
The happiness and harmony she saw now was just an illusion, ready to fall apart at any moment...
How ridiculous and sad that she'd never seen through it!
"Dad, don't you have anything else to say to me?" Cecilia looked at her father, utterly disheartened. At that moment, the man before her felt like a stranger.
"Cecilia... can you please not tell your mother about this for now?" Mr. Gu stammered, turning wooden again in front of Cecilia.
All the sweet words he'd just said to another woman instantly lost their effect.
"If you always wanted to remarry, why keep clinging to Mom? She's already past forty—her best years are gone, and how many more do you want to waste?" Cecilia's voice rose. "Dad, don't you think you're being selfish? Has Mom ever done anything to hurt our family or you? When Grandma scolded and hit her, you never stepped in! When Uncle and Aunt bullied her, you never spoke up!"
"When Mom couldn't have children, why didn't you divorce her sooner? If you'd remarried back then, your own child could be as old as me!" Cecilia accused. "Dad, I really want to ask you—how can you be so selfish? How can our family be so selfish? Why use up all Mom's value and then just kick her aside?"
"Cecilia, it's not like that..." Mr. Gu mumbled. "I'll make sure your mom has a place to stay! Your grandmother already took your engagement money and said it'll be used to buy a house. That house will be for your mom, so our family won't owe her anything!"
What? Using engagement money to buy Mom a house?
Absurd, truly absurd!
