The Much-Speculated Identity

1/4/2026

Cecilia Gu kept backing down, but all it did was make Helen Jiang push her luck even further.

Rona Muir and Sophie Mo couldn't hold back any longer. They stepped forward, ready to stand up for Cecilia.

Cecilia shook her head at them, then turned to Helen Jiang and said softly, "Yes, my surname is Gu, not Yun. But the Yun family parents are still my parents—that's something everyone knows. Miss Jiang, you really didn't know? I thought the eldest Miss Jiang was a trendsetter and would never miss out on news from Weibo, one of the fastest ways to spread information."

Cecilia was formally recognized by the Yun family in a public ceremony.

Even though they were her godparents, Cecilia was now officially part of the Yun family.

With a light remark, Cecilia fired back.

Helen Jiang's expression turned pale and uncertain.

She was angry precisely because she knew that Eric Jiang checked Cecilia's Weibo every single day!

Any time Cecilia posted on Weibo, Eric Jiang would read it over and over.

And if Cecilia posted selfies, Eric Jiang would download every single one of them.

That's why she was even angrier!

"So you're not really the Yun family's daughter. Don't think you can take Nora Yun's place just because you look exactly like her!" Helen Jiang blurted out.

The moment she said that, everyone's expression in the room instantly changed!

Charles Yin spoke up coldly, "Seems like I need my cousin to handle my family affairs for me?"

Cecilia turned around and saw Charles's gloomy face.

Helen Jiang was afraid of Charles. The moment she saw his dark expression, she immediately acted cute and whined to Mrs. Yin, "Auntie, look how mean cousin is!"

Mrs. Yin quickly said to Cecilia, "Your cousin is still young. As her sister-in-law, don't take it to heart."

"Mom, I don't want anyone targeting Cecilia. Even if it's someone from the Jiang family, it's not okay!" Charles didn't give Helen Jiang any face and called her out in public. "Cecilia is my wife. Whether she's good or bad, that's my business and nobody else's!"

Helen Jiang shrank back when Charles scolded her in front of everyone, hiding behind Mrs. Yin.

Mrs. Yin knew Helen Jiang had gone too far today, so she could only say, "Alright, enough. Today is Ethan Yin's homecoming—it's a family occasion, so let's not fight. Helen, go apologize to your sister-in-law!"

Helen Jiang unwillingly stepped forward, her eyes full of jealousy as she looked at Cecilia. But she had no choice but to apologize, "Sister-in-law, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it just now."

Cecilia shook her head gently. "It's fine, we're all family here."

Only then did Helen Jiang reluctantly step back.

But because of this little drama, many people present became curious about Cecilia's background.

#The wife of the Yin Corporation CEO is actually from a humble background, yet she's connected to the prestigious Yun family of Province Y. And she looks exactly like Nora Yun, the eldest Miss of the Yun family—is this just a coincidence or something more?#

#The young Mrs. Yin recognizes the Yun family as her own—so what happened to her previous family?#

#Nora Yun, the eldest Miss of the Yun family, looks exactly like the young Mrs. Yin—could they actually be the same person?#

In an instant, everyone in the hall was discussing Cecilia.

So many topics, so many speculations.

Cecilia hadn't expected that hiding the truth would have such consequences. Her face fell.

Charles Yin frowned and said, "Cecilia, I'll let Uncle's family know—they need to keep Helen Jiang in check!"

Cecilia shook her head. "Forget it, it's not worth it. There are so many people here—we can't let them laugh at us."

While no one was looking, Xiwei Ran quickly walked over to Huiyin Jiang and whispered, "That Cecilia Gu really doesn't know her place! She's only acting like she belongs because Charles Yin likes her. If she really considered you family, would she have made you apologize?"

Huiyin Jiang's face turned ugly again.

Helen Jiang glanced back at Xiwei Ran. "You're with Ethan Yin now. Cecilia's business shouldn't matter to you, right?"

Xiwei Ran smiled. "Yeah, I may be Charles's ex-girlfriend, but that's all in the past. I don't blame anyone. I just feel bad for you, that's all..."

Helen Jiang looked at Xiwei Ran warily, unsure of what she was really up to.

Xiwei Ran went on, "I'm just giving you a friendly tip, nothing more. Cecilia is trouble—men flock to her! She used to be dirt poor, then set up her own best friend to get into Charles's bed and got pregnant with a Yin family child. That's how she got into the Yin family. Tsk tsk, you probably don't know, but Zixuan Mo from the Mo family is crazy about her! And let's not even talk about the Yun family! Oh, and one more thing: this woman is an expert at playing the victim. She's only smug because she's pregnant with a Yin family child. Who knows how long that'll last if something happens to the baby! If you go against her, be careful—the eldest Jiang will fight you to the end."

With that, Xiwei Ran drifted away.

When Huiyin Jiang looked at Cecilia again, her gaze was even darker.

When Helen Jiang looked at Cecilia again, her gaze was even darker.

But Eric Jiang absolutely could not fall for her!

Absolutely not!

The Yun family felt a pang of sadness as they heard everyone gossiping about Cecilia.

Mr. Yun sighed, "It's a pity Cecilia isn't our biological daughter. But if that child from back then had survived, wouldn't they be about the same age as Cecilia now?"

Mrs. Yun hesitated, looking at her husband. "I don't know why, but I keep wanting to secretly get a DNA test. I just feel like Cecilia is our child."

"Don't say that! That child died young, remember? The doctor showed you personally—the child really didn't have the luck to stay with our Yun family." Mr. Yun's face turned serious. "Cecilia still has her adoptive mother. We can't hurt her feelings."

"If she doesn't want to see us, she must have her reasons. We shouldn't force it." Mr. Yun patted his wife's shoulder. "Even though Cecilia isn't our biological daughter, we've always treated her like one. We've had a tough life—both our daughters left us one after another. Now that we finally have a daughter, let's not ask for too much. As long as she needs us, we'll protect her without hesitation. That's enough for now—let's not think about anything else."

Mrs. Yun finally nodded sadly. "But it's a surprise that Mom suddenly insisted we attend this banquet together. Hasn't she stayed out of family matters for years?"

Mr. Yun was stunned for a moment before slowly answering, "Yeah, it's strange! Mom's never met Cecilia, so how did she know Cecilia would run into trouble at this banquet, and specifically asked us to come help?"

The couple looked at each other, both a bit confused.

Cecilia felt tired, so she took her assistant Xiao Wang and headed to the lounge to rest.

Cecilia felt tired, so she took her assistant Wendy and headed to the lounge to rest.

"That Cecilia Gu is just a fake, pretending to be something she's not! By the way, May Yan, why aren't you out there today? You're Siyao's real mother, after all." A sharp, biting woman's voice came from inside.

May Yan's voice followed, "What right do I have to go out there? At such a lively banquet, all I can do is hide here and watch. That old cripple said if I didn't hide, Siyao wouldn't get his money! I'm doing this for Siyao—when he finally controls the Yin Corporation, I'll make them pay!"

The sharp-tongued woman spoke again, "I heard that as soon as Cecilia got pregnant, the old lady from the Yin family gave her a lot of money. If your Siyao had a child soon..."

May Yan's voice piped up, "Right, thanks for reminding me! That's exactly what I was thinking! If Cecilia could get five percent of the shares just for being pregnant, then Siyao should too! Yesterday Siyao told me he met a pretty girl and was bringing her to the banquet, but I couldn't go out and see... If that girl gets pregnant soon, maybe the old lady will give Siyao five percent of the shares too!"

"Exactly! If someone as plain as Cecilia can get shares, then any girl Siyao picks would be way better than her!" the sharp woman chimed in.

Wendy heard them gossiping about Cecilia and immediately wanted to confront them.

Cecilia stopped Wendy with a sigh. "Forget it, let them talk. It's their mouths, not mine. Let's not rest here—let's find another lounge."

Only then did Wendy, still fuming, leave with Cecilia, heading to another lounge.

At this time, everyone else was outside socializing. No one was likely to come to the lounge.

But when Cecilia entered, she realized someone was already in the room.

Cecilia was about to leave when the person spoke up, "So it's my sister-in-law! What's wrong, not feeling well?"

Cecilia looked closely and realized it was Eric Jiang.

Thinking of how Helen Jiang had embarrassed her earlier, Cecilia wasn't too fond of Eric Jiang either.

Cecilia nodded lightly. "I thought the room was empty. Since you're resting here, then I'll..."

"The lounge is big, and it's a bit lonely by myself. If you don't mind, stay with me? Actually, I have something I'd like to ask you, sister-in-law!" Eric Jiang interrupted Cecilia.
