Who Took My Rebirth Pills
Cindy Zhu gritted her teeth and fell silent.
"But we can't just let him die for nothing." Wendy Zhu stared at Cindy's belly. "He needs to die for a reason! His death should mean something!"
"So what should we do?"
"Next month is our dear mother's birthday," Wendy Zhu said. "I'll ask His Majesty and the Empress Dowager to let you come home with me to celebrate. After all, Lian'er is nearly at death's door—I'm sure they'll agree."
"And... and then?" Cindy Zhu asked blankly.
"Then..." A flash of malice flickered in Wendy Zhu's eyes. "This child will definitely be lost because of Grace! Even if she isn't executed, she'll have to pay a heavy price!"
...
Grace felt her eyelid twitching all day long.
When she got home, she heard that Consort Cynthia was pregnant.
And it was a boy.
The Empress Dowager and the Emperor were both delighted, and immediately promoted her rank, granting her the title of Consort.
The Zhu family's daughters—one is the Empress, the other now carries a dragon heir. The family is basking in glory.
Visitors came in endless streams to offer their congratulations.
Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu and Minister Zhuo secretly harbored rebellious thoughts, so of course they couldn't feel happy at all. Still, they had to put on cheerful faces to greet all the guests—what a chore.
Luckily, Grace was just a girl—she didn't have to deal with any of this.
All she had to do was go home and dive into her Sanctum to cultivate.
These days, whenever she had free time, Grace was cultivating in her Sanctum.
The Dragon Scale pendant on her chest helped her absorb spiritual energy, massively boosting her cultivation speed.
And as her skills improved, the Dragon Scale absorbed even more spiritual energy.
After all her hard work, she was about to break through again.
Breaking through required the help of Rebirth Pills.
Luckily, she already had plenty of high-level cultivation pills on hand.
She headed to the tower, ready to open the box and look for an Eighth-Rank Advancement Pill.
But as soon as she went in, she froze.
The pill box was already open.
"Huh? When did I open this box? I remember coming in this morning—it was still closed!" Grace stared at the box, puzzled.
All the little bottles and jars inside were still there.
She reached in and picked up a small green porcelain bottle.
Inside were the pills to help her break through to Spirit Master, Eighth Rank.
She carefully poured a few into her palm.
There were only three pills left inside. She'd use one for herself, and save the other two for her father or anyone else who needed them.
But no matter how much she shook the bottle, nothing came out.
She stared in confusion, shook the bottle, and turned it upside down into her palm—only to find it was empty!
Where were her pills?
Where were her Eighth-Rank Advancement Pills?
Some of the ingredients in those pills were incredibly rare—she didn't have any more here.
Besides, she hadn't reached the eighth rank yet, so even if she had the ingredients, she might not be able to refine them successfully.
High-level pills like these are super hard to make if you haven't reached the right rank...
"Where are my pills? Who took my pills?" Grace stared blankly, deep in thought.
No one else could enter her Sanctum except her.
Could it be Beanie?
But Beanie hasn't been back these past two days, right?
Then who could it be?
Suddenly, Grace thought of a possibility and rushed to the lakeside.
Could it be Beanie's doing?
Beanie's magical vine is incredibly agile—it can fish things out of the lake, so it could definitely open her box too.
Sure enough, the Beanie sapling had grown a lot. When it saw her, it frantically used its magic vine to bury the three pills under its roots.
