Scared Out of Her Wits
Princess Mira watched as the eminent monk strode away with effortless grace, and she was completely dumbfounded.
All the merchants who had participated in the auction scattered like birds and beasts.
Even the monk said the ghost couldn’t be exorcised—no one was foolish enough to spend so much money on a haunted restaurant.
"Wait, don’t go! The price is negotiable!" Princess Mira panicked as she saw everyone fleeing faster than rabbits.
"No thanks, I just remembered something urgent at home. I’ll be leaving now!"
"My wife is about to give birth!"
"My old sow is having piglets—I need to hurry home and help!"
"My cat is about to give birth too. Farewell!"
Everyone had completely fled, leaving Princess Mira staring at the empty Suxin Pavilion, utterly at a loss.
With rumors of haunting and even the monk unable to dispel the ghost, Suxin Pavilion was now infamous as a haunted house—no one dared buy it.
Princess Mira could no longer keep up her airs. Every day, she regretted not selling Suxin Pavilion sooner—then none of this would have happened.
She would curse that dead man from time to time—why did he have to die right at Suxin Pavilion’s door and ruin her business?
Meanwhile, the very man Princess Mira had cursed ten thousand times was now lounging in Prince of Qin's Manor, sipping tea without a care in the world.
"Lily, your disguise skills are next level!" Arthur Evans chuckled. "You just keep getting better. The word’s all over town—Suxin Pavilion’s price has tanked and still no takers. Lily, think it’s time we swoop in and grab a bargain?"
Lily Evans smiled. "Let’s wait a bit longer—the price can drop even further."
"Even lower? It’s already half off!" Arthur Evans exclaimed, wide-eyed.
"I say thirty percent off is about right," Lily Evans grinned. Then she called out, "Sean Hayes, come in."
Sean Hayes strode in and saluted. "Princess Consort, what are your orders?"
Lily Evans tossed him a mask. "Here, put this on. Think you can play a ghost?"
"Play a ghost?" Sean Hayes blinked in confusion. Lily Evans whispered in his ear, and he couldn't help but snicker before dashing out.
Lily Evans took a sip of tea, smiling. "Uncle Arthur, give it two more days—I promise you’ll get it for thirty percent."
"Lily, Uncle Arthur trusts you!" Arthur Evans said, practically bouncing with excitement.
Noon.
After lunch, Princess Mira paced anxiously in Suxin Pavilion. Days had passed, and still no buyers—what was she going to do?
With the divorce deadline looming, she still hadn’t scraped together enough silver. She was at her wit’s end.
After lunch, Princess Mira felt drowsy and went to rest in her private room at the top of Suxin Pavilion. But as she drifted off, she suddenly sensed someone by her bed. Groggily opening her eyes, she saw the bloodied man who had died at the door, standing by her bedside, his face and clothes smeared with crimson. He whispered hoarsely, "You killed me, and now I’ve come for your life... Your life..."
Princess Mira was so terrified her tongue went numb. She yanked the covers over her head and let out a shriek.
Lila, who had been waiting outside, rushed in, threw back the covers, and saw Princess Mira's face pale with fear. Mira stammered, "A ghost! I saw a ghost!"
"A ghost? Where?" Lila looked around, completely baffled. There was no one else here—where could a ghost come from?
But Princess Mira insisted she’d seen a ghost. Lila tried to comfort her, saying it was probably just a nightmare.
Princess Mira let out a shaky breath and believed Lila. She thought to herself, it must’ve just been a bad dream.
But the very next day, while napping in the pavilion, the ghost appeared again! From then on, Princess Mira kept seeing that elusive, blood-soaked ghost in Suxin Pavilion. The strangest part? Only she could see it!
Princess Mira was so frightened she nearly wet herself. "I’m never coming to Suxin Pavilion again! Sell this haunted place—whoever wants it can have it!"
