Burning Bridges After Crossing the River
After thinking it over, Victor Tang decided to make things clear so that Shawn Shi wouldn’t overestimate himself and go after Landon Lu for revenge: “I’ve fought him before—he’s a bit stronger than me. And honestly, I get the feeling that he wasn’t even using his full strength.”
"No way!"
Shawn Shi’s jaw dropped in disbelief, thoroughly shaken. After all, the Sixth Young Master’s cultivation was already at the peak of Second-Level War King, and among them he was one of the strongest. If Landon Lu was even a bit stronger, he had to be at least a Second-Level War King, maybe even a Third-Level War King.
How could a master like that be just a minor Special Police Minister? It made no sense at all.
Even though he was confused, Shawn gave up on the idea of seeking revenge on Landon Lu. Thinking back, he realized his injuries weren’t really Landon’s fault. He’d actually had a chance to escape that day, but instead tried to kill Landon out of spite—only to discover his opponent was a tough nut to crack. Instead of venting his anger, he ended up getting himself caught.
Thinking about it now, he couldn’t help but smile bitterly: “Don’t worry, Sixth Young Master. I won’t go seeking revenge on Landon Lu anymore!”
“Good. Focus on recovering.”
Victor Tang breathed a sigh of relief, chatted a bit more with Shawn Shi, then stepped out of the cabin.
“Sixth Young Master, are we heading back to Mesa City soon?” Old Gan asked, bowing slightly to Victor Tang.
“Let’s wait a bit before going back,” Victor Tang sighed. All the foundation and manpower she’d worked so hard to build had been destroyed by a single traitor. She’d even placed high hopes in that traitor, but in the end...
A few days passed in a blur.
In Mingzhu City, Sean Feng sat in a luxury villa, reviewing secret intelligence sent through private channels. A plan slowly formed in his mind: "Landon Lu, you dared offend me. I'll play you to death!"
At 3 p.m., at the 96th Division garrison.
A flashy sports car drove straight in and stopped in front of the military office building.
"Who are you?"
The soldiers standing guard in front of the building stopped Sean Feng.
"Here are my credentials. I'm here to see Commander Daniel Dong!" Sean Feng handed over his documents.
After checking, the guard returned the credentials to Sean Feng.
"Please go in!"
After the check, the guard handed the credentials back to Sean Feng.
That evening, Daniel Dong and Sean Feng left the military office building together, chatting and laughing—a scene that did not go unnoticed by keen observers.
96th Division, Officer Housing Area, Villa No. 3.
Donna Dong parked her car and walked into the villa’s main hall, only to find her father sitting on the sofa, chatting and laughing with a young man.
"Dad, we have a guest?" Donna Dong asked.
"Come here, Donna." Daniel Dong waved her over. "Let me introduce you. This is Sean Feng, son of Marshall Charles Feng. He’s currently serving in the Thunder Regiment as vice-captain of the 9th Squad!"
Sean Feng’s eyes lit up the moment he saw Donna Dong. Deep in his gaze flashed a hint of lust and wicked intent. 'Such a beautiful woman—I have to get her into bed and train her properly.'
"Hello, Donna. If you don’t mind, just call me Sean."
Donna Dong responded politely, "Mr. Feng."
Donna frowned slightly. How could she not see that her father was deliberately creating a chance for her and Sean Feng to be alone? She felt even more uncomfortable—how could her father go back on his word?
"Donna, could you show me around the villa?" Sean Feng said with a smile.
"Sorry, I'm not feeling well. I'll go rest in my room."
With those words, Donna headed straight to her room.
Watching her leave, Sean Feng's eyes flashed coldly. He thought, "This woman has character—makes her all the more worth conquering."
Back in her room, Donna grew angrier the more she thought about it. Finally, unable to hold back, she dialed Landon Lu's number. As soon as he answered, she complained: "Landon, you jerk! Why haven't you come to see me these days?"
"I've been busy!" Landon replied.
"Busy! You only know how to be busy. Do you know my dad brought Marshall Feng's son home?" Donna said angrily.
"What do you mean? Is your dad going back on his word?" Ian's tone suddenly turned cold.
Donna was silent for a moment before saying, "I think he's obsessed with becoming division commander—he's gone crazy. Are you free now? Why don't you come over? It might help Sean Feng give up."
"Sure! I'll come right away!"
Ten minutes later, Landon Lu's flying car appeared outside the 96th Division base, but the guards stopped him and said rudely, "Leave now!"
"I'm here to see Deputy Commander Daniel Dong!" Landon explained.
"To be honest, the order not to let you near the base came directly from Deputy Commander Daniel Dong himself. Leave now, or we'll have to get rough!" the guard sneered.
"Damn! Daniel Dong is really burning bridges after crossing the river!" Landon cursed.
He turned his car around and flew a kilometer away, then called Donna Dong: "Donna, your dad's something else—he actually gave the order not to let me in. Come out and get me!"
Donna agreed and headed out to meet Landon.
