Beasts in Weakwater

1/19/2026

The moment Evan Chu dove into Weakwater, he was hit by a massive pressure. Even though the Goldscale Coat's barrier protected him, he still felt extremely uncomfortable.

The Weakwater River was so deep that it took Evan nearly two minutes to reach the bottom. Looking around, he saw nothing but utter darkness—blacker than night, the kind where you can't even see your hand in front of your face.

The current at the riverbed was still fierce, making it impossible for Evan to steady himself—he could only move with the flow. In this kind of environment, trying to find the Water Spirit Pearl was unbelievably difficult.

Evan drifted along the bottom of Weakwater, not knowing how much time had passed, until he noticed the current suddenly slowing down—and naturally, his own movement slowed as well.

He remembered the Mermaid King had said that the current in the middle of Weakwater was fierce, but at both ends it was like dead water. Judging by the situation, he was probably entering the dead-water zone now.

He strained his eyes to look around, but it was still pitch-black—no clue where to start. Disappointed, he asked the Sword Spirit, "Luna, it's pitch-black everywhere here. How am I supposed to find the Water Spirit Pearl? Can you use your divine sense to help me?"

Soon Luna's voice came: "Evan, the density of Weakwater is too high—even my divine sense can only probe a few dozen meters around us. This river stretches for dozens of kilometers; I'm afraid I can't do much."

Hearing this made Evan even more disappointed. Just then, Luna suddenly said, "Evan, be careful! There's a monster in the Weakwater heading straight for you!"

Evan was instantly alarmed—this news was just adding insult to injury. In an environment like this, he was basically a sitting duck. But he quickly remembered he was wearing the Goldscale Coat; no matter how strong the beast was, it couldn't possibly be at the Divine Martial Realm, so it shouldn't pose much threat to him.

Soon enough, he felt a massive force slam into his back, making the barrier around him shudder. He was pushed forward several steps before he managed to stop.
