Grace Zhuo (Chloe) found out and, worried about her mother, quietly tagged along to Jade Hall.

She was worried her mom would get fooled by Grace Wan's sweet talk.

"No way." Lena shut it down. "Jason Zhuo needs a powerful wife and family behind him if he's going to have a future. Why would I let him marry a nobody?"

"Madam, maybe you don't know what's up with Jason lately?" Grace Wan asked.

"What's going on?"

"He broke the rules, lost his post, and now they're saying he sold off army supplies. If they pin it on him, he'll be stuck as a commoner for life."

"No way!" Lena shot back. "Jason would never do something like that."

Grace Wan put on her most sympathetic face. "Right? I don't buy it either! We've always treated him well—never shorted him on anything!"

But yeah, losing his job is for real.

The whole army knows—he's been punished and sent to babysit the grain warehouse!

Even my sister-in-law's niece—I had to personally vouch for her before they'd let their precious daughter marry in!

Lena frowned. "Let's just put his marriage on ice for now. This is not the right time to play matchmaker."

"That was Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu's idea too. But Jason Zhuo himself asked for it! He wants the family to set up his engagement ASAP—preferably before Kevin Zhuo gets hitched," Grace Wan said. "He's always been so sensible. Now he finally asks for something, how can we let him down?"

Lena thought it over. "You don't need to worry about this anymore. I'll talk it over with the Prime Minister when the time comes."

Grace Wan was caught off guard. Her face changed and she blurted, "Madam, what do you mean? I've already spoken to the Leng Family!"

Lena raised an eyebrow. "You spoke to the Leng Family? About what?"

"Of course I talked about Jason and Annie's marriage. Now you want me to back off? That makes me look ridiculous!"

"Are you saying Jason's marriage can just be decided without me or the Prime Minister?" Lena looked surprised.

Grace Wan fired back, "Didn't you used to ignore all this stuff before?"

Lena paused. "Lady Blue Moon, I always thought you were super reliable. That's why I let you run the whole Prime Minister's Residence! But lately, why are you getting so muddled?"

Grace Wan's face fell. "How am I muddled?"

"Obviously because of what happened with Kevin Zhuo and your niece," Lena said. "Ever since that Sierra mess, I told you to keep Kevin Zhuo in line and stop him from acting out, but look at him..."

Lena shook her head. "Honestly, Kevin Zhuo's marriage is already a disaster. We can't let Jason Zhuo's marriage go down the drain too, right?"
